This was a fascinating read, so much detail and research must of gone into the history of wrecks, gaming pieces and museums. They were all things I had little knowledge about and I really enjoyed discovering about them through the eyes of Lauren, Dave, Phil and Sally.

Some beautiful friendships were forged and it was really touching seeing all the different generations bonding over the finds from the ship wreck.

A lovely slow burn, easy read book, perfect for lazy summer days.

Having enjoyed previous books by this author, was keen to read this, her latest offering. Not as romantic, as her usual subjects, but still enjoyed the content and the characters

I really enjoy books where archaeology is a theme, and this was no exception. It's set in a small village (always a good start where I'm concerned) named for the sea glass washed up on its beach, a magical idea in itself. The village has a tiny museum which is struggling financially. It's also the location for a marine archaeology dive, on a wreck in the bay and the team of researchers soon find themselves making friends and getting involved in village life. The dive is a short-lived project, though - will they have time to make a difference?

Jenny Kane is on my list of authors who can be relied on for a good read. So I was delighted to see a new book from her, and my thanks are due to NetGalley amd the publishers for an ARC.

I love a book set by the sea and this one was no different. I loved the intrigue of who was behind the closure rumours of the museum and fascinated by the unearthing of hidden treasures on the wreck. I've always thought about the on land discovery of artefacts and not considered how they do it in the water.

The characters were likeable (all those who were supposed to be) and you were rooting for them to have their happy ever after.

A gorgeous read that you won't want to put down. The story is located in Sea Glass Cove, where Marine Archeologist Lauren and her team are there to dive for artefacts from the sunken Tudor ship The Visson. Lauren is there to to do a job, she's used to moving from place to place and for that reason she doesn't tend to make friends with the locals, she only has room in her life for her career.
Sea Glass Cove is also home to a small local museum, who are excited to be one of the sponsors of the project, a fact that is news to Lauren. Lauren visits The Museum by the Sea to make peace with the museum manager Phil (Phillipa) only to find out the future of the museum is in doubt, which is made worse when they find out the sponsorship they thought had been pledged was not as thought and there will be no opportunity for the artefacts found to be displayed at the museum. Phil was pinning her hope on the exhibition saving the museum, she can't even afford the rent, local and dear friend Jude has set up a shop in the premises "All at Sea" selling his stunning jewellery made from the sea Glass washed up on the shore, so his rent helps but the local disgruntled council seems to be det ermine to put the final nail in the coffin for the museum.

As Lauren trys to help, she breaks her own rules and starts to realise she thinks of many of the locals as friends, then there's Ollie, Phils brother, there's a mutual attraction but Lauren just can't allow herself to get too close, can she, she will be moving on soon?

Arthur is another lovely local, in the later ages of his years, he has his own collection of fascinating objects washed up on the shore. And his side story is truly heartwarming.

Jenny Kane writes beautifully and it was fascinating to have a story that bit different with the archeology theme.

Phil works in the museum, but it is under threat to close due to lack of funds.
Her brother Ollie runs the local pub.
Apart from Arthur and Jeff, I found some of the characters a bit dull.
The will they, won't they between Lauren and Ollie was unbelievable. Who talks to each other and behaves like that?
Overall, the story was ok, but it took me some time to get into.

What a blast. This book has so many interesting characters whose lives and loves are interwoven in a careful way. The coast and the ship wreck bounty is described so well and the joy about the discoveries from the dive and the treasures thrown on to the beach is infectious. The characters are delightful, best friends, old flames, siblings and old married couples all blur into one kind and caring community. A community that cooks dinners, that picks friend up from hospital, that stands up to bullying local councillors and one that falls in love.

This charming romance story is set in Dorset in the fictitious town of Sea Glass Cove and is about a marine archaeologist, Lauren Sunshine, who is running a dig to uncover what lies in a Tudor wreck off the shore. The dig unearths a chess set, which is nearly complete and revolves around trying to find the three missing pieces, as well as save the tiny museum that is under threat in the seaside town. There are people councillors who want to shut the museum down and no one is quite sure why. The locals and Lauren try and stop it with new friendships being made as the story unfolds some romances too.

There are plenty of local characters who add to the story, both good and some not so good. The characters are likeable and well written and easy to relate to. I did enjoy meeting them as I read and seeing what happened in their lives.

This is a cosy romance with lots of interesting details, Jenny Kane has thoroughly researched the subject and this really added to the story. If you are looking for a warm, comfy romance then you will want to read this one.

Great story and lovely characters. As a lover of chess I did enjoy this story. I loved when it was said "it is not over till the king falls" very clever. It was touching and heartwarming especially when the museum risked closure and so many people came to help to keep it open. I really found it hard to put down. Sea Glass Cove sounded like a wonderful place to live. Excellent read.

A light, easy read about saving a small seaside museum with a touch of romance thrown in. Set on the Dorset coast around the Lyme Regis area set around an excavation of an old Tudor wreck which was quite fascinating. Delightful characters, slightly old fashioned in their way which was refreshing and Arthur was a complete gem all balanced out by a rogue in a local, blustery small town councillor. A generally gentle read which is certainly needed from time to time.

I really enjoyed this book. Whilst I wouldn’t necessarily call it a romance novel, it was still very interesting and I fell in love with the location and also Arthur, he was my fave!

The overall storyline about the museum was quite gripping and I was hoping that something good would come out of it in the end. I also found the whole idea of the excavation of the Vissen very fascinating.

The only thing I would say that was missing would be more romance, as whilst there was some, there wasn’t enough to have me engrossed in their stories.

While this book is long and took a while to get into, I did enjoy the lightheartedness. It was overall an easy read with a fun, unique story. I enjoyed the characters, especially Arthur! Although I wouldn’t consider this up my normal alley of romance books (the romance plot is more in the shadow of the main plot of saving the museum) I did enjoy the quick read.

A really enjoyable story about a small village museum at risk of closure and the locals and marine archeologists there for a dig that try to save it. Such great characters and interesting history. I found it a lovely read. Made me wish I could go sit in a snug by a fire with a pint.

I found this heart warming novel sweet and easy to follow. I enjoyed the story and the cast of characters were likeable and believable. Overall an enjoyable novel that I would recommend.

This is a (long) story of a marine archaeologist meddling with locals to help save a small local museum. Majority of the book is around the finds from the dive site and how to save the museum with lots of talk about chess pieces. I would not consider this a romance book as the romantic story line takes a back seat to the museum. While the book may not have been the most thrilling read, its subtle charm lies in the author's meticulous attention to detail. Despite its unassuming nature, the book offers a unique perspective that may resonate with those seeking a quieter literary experience.
