What a great book! My first by this author but definitely not my last. The twists were twisting. It kept me guessing throughout. I'd definitely recommend.

A good book. Well written and gripping however I couldn’t relate to the character as much as I would have liked to. The twisty ending was good.

Good one.
Iris narrowly escaped her pretty, popular twin sister’s fate as a teen: kidnapped, trafficked and long gone before the cops agreed to investigate. With no evidence to go on but a few scattered memories, the case quickly goes cold. Now an adult, Iris wants one thing—proof. And if the police still won’t help, she’ll just have to find it her own way; by interning at the isolated Shoal Island Hospital for the criminally insane, where secrets lurk in the shadows and are kept under lock and key. But Iris soon realizes that something even more sinister is simmering beneath the surface of the Shoal, and that the patients aren’t the only ones being observed…
Thanks to NetGalley and HQ for giving me an advance copy.

Starting with a 911 call from Iris when her twin Piper is kidnapped, the story starts off well and I had good expectations for the book. Told on dual timelines of past and present we flip from the build up to Pipers kidnap to how Iris is investigating it still years on.

When the shutter island vibes kicked in I was convinced it was going to get better but I waited and it just didn’t. It was just ok. The ending was good although somewhat unbelievable. I hope others enjoy this more than I did.

Thank you to the publisher, author and NetGalley for my ARC In exchange for my honest review

Thank you Netgalley for a copy of Good Half Gone in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely flew through this one, the writing was interesting and I loved the interchanging between past and present. It was a clever story but I knocked off a star because I can't quite put my finger on it but I felt something was missing. I enjoyed the present day chapters much better because understandably the past chapters were quite juvenile. I would have liked to have seen the relationship between the police officer as it came as a bolt out of the blue when she owed a favour - I understand the logistics but seeing the development would have been the cherry on the cake for me.

I did see where the storyline was heading before it was 'revealed' however I did enjoy what the author did with the big reveal and did think it was handled well. I would like to read more from Tarryn Fisher!

I loved this book - I’m a sucker for a psychological thriller. They keep my attention from start to finish (usually) and this certainly fit that bill! It was gripping and filled with twists until the last page and I was desperate to know what happened. As usual, I was rubbish at guessing what was going to happen next (which isn’t abnormal for me!) I also really liked the romantic aspect of the plot too - something a little bit different compared to your usual thriller type book!

Good Half Gone is a dark and compelling read that follows the story of Iris, who as a teenager, witnesses her twin sister, Piper, being kidnapped. The book's dual timeline unravels the events surrounding the abduction and I became really invested in Iris’ determination to uncover the truth of what happened to Piper. Another gripping and compelling offering by Tarryn Fisher

This started off really well, and I was invested into finding out what happened to Piper. It seemed to go off tangent with a plot line that just wasn't credible. I loved it up to that point.

Good Half Gone by Tarryn Fisher promised an enthralling narrative—a tale of separated twin sisters set against the backdrop of a mysterious mental hospital. Initial excitement propelled me into what should have been an emotional rollercoaster. However, amidst the twists, my emotions became entangled, leaving me torn between admiration and disappointment.

Fisher adeptly immerses readers into Iris Walsh's tumultuous world, vividly portraying the pain of her twin's abduction. Iris's determination to uncover the truth captivated me as she navigated the maze of a state hospital. Fisher's hypnotic prose drew me in, yet the narrative lost its way in unnecessary detours, disrupting momentum.

As Iris delved deeper into the mystery, the story's potential faltered. Superfluous subplots hindered the narrative, and the climax proved rushed and unsatisfying. Despite these flaws, moments of brilliance emerged—Fisher's exploration of grief and obsession was hauntingly beautiful.

The bitter ending underscored the untapped potential of a story that hinted at greatness. Despite falling short, Good Half Gone remains a testament to storytelling's power, revealing beauty within darkness.

When teenager Piper Walsh is kidnapped, her sister Iris witnesses it. But due to confusion, and lack of evidence, the case peters out. And it seems that Piper - who was both attractive and well liked - will never be found.

But there is one person who never gave up on the case. Now an adult, Iris is determined to get to the bottom of what happened to her sibling. But after all this time, does she really stand any chance of finding out the truth?

Iris's determination takes her to a dark place - both figuratively and literally. And her internship at a hospital for psychotic criminals leads to an unexpected discovery...

This is a gripping story and a compelling read. Iris' desperation for answers is relatable and the storytelling flows well. Tarryn Fisher has done it again!

This is book is told in a past/ present timeline wow this book was extremely suspenseful with many twists and turns!

I had so many questions whilst reading it like who took Piper?! I found the characters of Piper and Iris very unique! I found the setting in the mental hospital a bit eerie. Overall, an enjoyable book! 😊 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars!
