This book surprised me in more ways than one. I expected a cozy fantasy and what I found was a steamy, fantasy rom-com with the best set of characters and the most heartwarming story. The chemistry and tension was beyond amazing and the little bit of angst had me on the edge of my seat. I absolutely adore this book with my entire being.

Fake dating and enemies to lovers? It’s checking all my boxes.

This started out really fun for me and I thought it had. A lot of really funny, laugh out loud moments. However, I did struggle toward the end. Some of the behaviors were just a little more immature and outlandish than what I would expect.

That being said, I’m interested in seeing where the series goes!

This book was such a fun, easy read! How to Fake It With a Fae has everything you want in a fantasy rom-com—sassy characters, swoony fae magic, and a fake dating trope that keeps you hooked. The story follows Ava, a human in desperate need of money, who gets roped into pretending to be the fiancée of a fae prince, Calder. Of course, nothing goes as planned, and their fake relationship starts feeling very real.

Ava is hilarious and relatable, with just the right amount of stubbornness. Calder is the perfect mix of arrogant and charming (because, let’s be honest, what’s a fae prince without a little attitude?). Their banter was so entertaining, and the slow-burn romance had just the right amount of tension.

The world-building is light but fun, making this a great pick for readers who like fantasy without too much heavy detail. Overall, it’s a fast, entertaining read with plenty of humor, magic, and romance.

If you love lighthearted fantasy rom-coms with fae drama and fake dating chaos, this one’s for you!

How to Fake It with a Fae cracked me up! Addison was witty, self-deprecating, and yet still stood up for herself with challenged by fae royalty. The fact that her family owned a bookstore where you could hop into the story of your choosing made me giddy and jealous all at the same time! I hope we get to see it in action in future books because I can see some hilarious scenarios arising from it.

Feylin, her love interest, was everything I love in a fantasy romance - tall, brooding, sacrificing everything for his people, and enamored with his quirky woman. ::swoon:: His one flaw was in what he did to the bookstore. I know she forgave him and its explained why she didn't go nuclear on him, but *I* do not forgive him. He needed to grovel until his knees were bloody.

If you're looking for a quick read with a cast of loveable characters, fake dating, action infused with humor, and enough steam to fog your Kindle, look no further! How to Fake It with a Fae is for you!

Thank you, NetGalley and Ladybugbooks, for the opportunity to read this. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

'Bridgerton meets A Court of Thorns and Roses in this grumpy-sunshine romantic comedy' - A fun read~

Who doesn't love the idea of a magical bookstore, fated mates and an old family feud?

Addison Thornrose, the eldest nonmagical daughter of a family of witches, must marry to save the family's magic. Hiding her predicament is the only way to begin her fake relationship with Feylin - the literal King of the Fey, who has to hide his grudge against Addison's family.

The attraction these two feel for each other must be part of the magical binding, right?!

Lovable side characters and a HEA make this book a warm and fuzzy (sometimes steamy) read.

Expecting this to be a 7 book series, a book for all of the sisters :)

This was a cute fantasy romcom! Def very cheesy and the writing wasn't the best, but it was fun! A quick read if you're looking for something light and silly.

How to Fake It with a Fae is an entertaining, fast-paced read with a perfect mix of romance, magic, and mystery. Amy Boyles’ ability to create engaging characters and a compelling world will keep readers hooked from start to finish. If you're a fan of urban fantasy with strong female leads, slow-burn romances, and a healthy dose of fae magic, this book is definitely worth picking up.
If you're looking for a fun, enchanting read that blends adventure, romance, and a touch of whimsy, How to Fake It with a Fae will not disappoint.
I cant wait to continue this series!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I was really excited to read this based on the cover and the title. I'm a sucker for fake dating and I love romantasy, so this was set to be a winner for me. Unfortunately, I found the book fell flat for me, not delivering on those exciting expectations I had. There were some parts of the story that I found quite fun to read and I was happy to finish the book, however there were enough flaws/issues that I had to justify my 2 star rating I think.

Firstly, I found the characters very immature and a little annoying considering the age they were supposed to be. I didn't really feel the chemistry between the FMC and the MMC, and I found the sex scenes between them very cringey. I didn't find that the magic system totally made sense either? The FMC's family's magical powers are draining and the only way to restore them is by marrying off the daughters.. but I didn't get how that would help?

I think the final nail in the coffin for my rating was the conflict and resolution in the third act. It wasn't miscommunication, it was no communication at all which led to some very BIG and quite serious actions, which I thought were then forgiven and forgotten far too easily.

Based on all this, I don't think I am likely to continue with this series going forward.

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC! 1.5 ⭐️

How to begin this review….. I was disappointed to say the least. I had a hard time really enjoying this book because I honestly felt like the author didn’t have any original thoughts when it came to the story line. We have a fake fiancée trope, the entire first chapter is pretty much copy and paste from Legally Blonde, our FMC has a magic mirror (Snow White) and the biggest thing about her is that she loves books and owns a bookshop (Beauty and the Beast), 7 sisters named in alphabetical order (Bridgerton), and their house shape-shifts to accommodate a large gathering (Encanto). I’m sure there are more similarities to other stories but that’s just a few I picked out to make note on.

Something that else feels very unoriginal? A Fae King. What’s his name you may ask? Feylin. Must’ve been hard to come up with that one….

Moving on to some quotes that gave me the ick:

“My girlie parts throb right on cue” gross

“He murmurs in a voice that makes my girlie parts throb” we’ve now used that description twice and the first time was too many.

“Her voice tender but loaded with worry like a baked potato from Cracker Barrel” okay?

“Even in death, Nana’s got serious drip” …..?

2 things I’ll mention that were strange and were just laughable at this point - guard books. Like guard dogs. But their books. I think it was supposed to be serious but I was just laughing. And then instead of brooms, the witches ride cast iron skillets. So. Moving on.

2 days after Feylin destroys her literal entire family’s livelihood, she just decided to forgive him because her sister said he did it because he loves her. This was so ridiculous and unrealistic. Everything was crammed in at the end. This book could’ve been much longer, but thank goodness it wasn’t.

How the author decided to go about writing the ending of their joining was disgusting and in my opinion could’ve been done very differently. I probably would’ve stopped reading at this point, but I was 77% of the way in and just wanted to see how it ended at that point.

And lastly, something that won’t bother some people, but others may feel this way too - I don’t like when fantasy books are set in a normal, already existing world. Basically this story takes place near Nashville. When I read fantasy, I want to be able to fully imagine a made up world that doesn’t already exist.

Needless to say, I didn’t like this book and I’m not going to recommend it to anyone else.

This really wasn't for me and I DNF'd it.
Honestly I'm a bit baffled as to why past me requested this book (unless it was a netgalley glitch??) as I categorically cannot stand Fae books yet here it is, on my kindle and in my netgalley shelf to review.

So I gave it a go in the hopes it was a sign from the universe that this would be the fae book I liked... but it was not.
Sorry.

This was a cute, cozy, enemies-to-lovers romcom centering around a witch at a bookstore. I loved the regency setting look forward to checking out the rest of the books in the series!

Thank you so much to the publisher and to NetGalley for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

I'll be immediately interested in anything enemies-to-lovers, but throw in some fae mystery and I'm all in! This is a great read (if perhaps not the most unique or memorable) -- the build up is great, but the last half of the book and the will-they-won't they drama was my favourite bit.

This book was just the sweetest. It has everything you need. It’s just one of those books that make you happy. Addison is sweet and optimistic despite not having magic. When her Gran dies and things go bad to worse she still puts on a brave face. That is when she’s not piling on the shoes of the gotten man she has ever laid eyes on. Feylin is angry and stubborn and holding a grudge on a certain family in town. Feylin and Addy have an instant connection though both try and deny it. This book has a sweet romance, hidden secrets and lots of sexual tension. I can’t wait to read more from this series!
