The title and cover instantly caught my attention.
This was a fun, cute, magical story! It kept my interested and for the most part I really enjoyed the characters!
Tropes:
💫 Fake engagement
💫 Enemies to lovers
💫 Forced proximity
💫 Slow burn
💫 Fae and witches
Spice: 🌶️
The story focuses on Addie and Feylin. Addie is a witch without magic while Feylin is a fae king. Witches and the fae do not get along in this world but Addie and Feylin are both being pressure to marry they decide to team up and help each other out and have a fake engagement. Feylin claims he accidentally bonds him and Addie which means they are not able to be far apart, so she needs to go back to his the castle with him. As the book goes on Feylin and Addie become closer and we are able to see some of their past and how they are both able to grow but both of them are keeping many secrets. The story also had both Addie and Feylin’s POV which I enjoyed.
Some things that I personally did not like was there was wayyyy to much miscommunication between Feylin and Addie. I also think there was a little too much inner dialogue especially for Addie, at times it was really cringy. Also, I found the story predictable and I was able to guess every plot twist.
The epilogue left it open for the possibility of another book that I think would focus more on Addie’s sister. Addie’s sisters were entertaining so I would read another book if there is one!
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for this arc! All opinions are my own.

Cute story line that was an easy quick read. Fun. Light. Main character is a book lover (which I love reading in books! Kind of like inception for readers) . Romantsy but make it funny!

3.5 stars
From the premise, How to Fake it With A Fae sounds like exactly the type of book that I would love and enjoy reading. The whole enemies-to-lovers, fake dating/marriage of convenience is exactly my type of read and for the most part, I did enjoy the book. Addie and Feylin did certainly have some good chemistry and their banter was pretty great. There's also some really enjoyable spicy moments between the two that leaves you wanting more.
However, the writing style, at least to me, felt slightly strange. The opening was pretty great and the first few chapters were so much fun to read, but somewhere in the middle it kind of tapered off, but it picked up again towards the end. So, it made for an interesting reading experience, but also took away some of my enjoyment of reading this book.
However, I won't lie. I quite loved this world and with the way things ended, I am sure there will be more books in this series so I am looking forward to reading those!

This was such a cute, fun, enemies-to-lovers, fake engagement romance. I requested this book for the cover, but devoured it because of the story. The world building was unique, blending a magical fae/witch world with the modern US. Set in Tennessee, the author even added some Southern flair. I adored the characters. Addison and Feylin are so good together. They are both wounded in their own way, but together, they bring out the best in each other. Addison's sisters (who will all have their own stories eventually) are so sweet and supportive. I also really enjoyed the relationship between Feylin and his young cousin, who he is raising. This book definitely checked all my cozy romantasy boxes, and was as magical as the cover is beautiful. I devoured this book in two days, and would highly recommend it to anyone.

this just wasn’t it for me. I was completely bored from the beginning. I thought i was going to like this based on the cover and synopsis.
Unfortunately this was a no go for me.

This book was such a fun read! It was easy and light, but had all the right elements for a cozy fantasy romance. I was hooked from the very beginning and read this in one sitting - literally. I couldn't put it down!
This gave me Legally Blonde meets Bridgerton vibes, which I absolutely loved, mixed with fake dating, fae, and witches. Addison has had terrible luck with dating, but it seems like that's a problem of the past.... until what she thought was a proposal is... yep - you guessed it - a breakup. Humiliated and upset, she's forced to return home to deal with a family emergency. And this is when she runs into Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome.
Feylin is broody and determined to keep love at arms length, but his people need a queen. The magic in his realm is fading and only a queen is able to solve that minor problem. Through a momentary lapse in judgement and a cruel twist of fate, Addison winds up as his fake fiancee.
Secrets, betrayal, tension, and a lot of delicious banter ensue, burning oh so slowly until the emotion is just too much. Without spoiling anything, this is where I deducted half a star. I personally would have liked to see the scene play out differently, but it was heart-wrenching and beautiful in its own way.
This book is the first in an interconnected standalone, and has a HEA. Perfect for fans of slow burn, cozy romance, broody fae, and snarky FMCs.

The book is an easy read, but I think this book will have different rating because if you read it expecting something strong like a big plot twist or something you will be disappointed.
So if you want to like it go with no expectations.
In the first 40% of the book it was fine, then it start to take to different turns.
And after 60% I dnf it, because for me I was expecting a lot of emotions but unfortunately that didn’t happen.

First off thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Addison is a magicless witch and she’s been having a horrible day. Her boyfriend decides to call it quits, a family emergency pulls her home and before she can even make it a few steps through her hometown she pukes on a handsome strangers shoes. It couldn’t get worse from there right? Wrong. After running into the handsome stranger again he comes to her rescue and announces their engagement to spare Addie not only embarrassment but to help her family. However, this stranger turns out to be Fae and the king to boot. But Feylin the stranger has his own problems swirling and together him and Addie have to navigate this engagement and their growing attraction towards one another. Can a magicless witch and a Fae King fake it till they make it? Or will they blacken like a dead rose?
This book was a fun and cute read! I was instantly drawn in by the bright colors of the cover and the title. I’m always drawn to books with fae and/or witches and the fact that this is a romance made it all the more alluring. Even more so I found myself drawn to these characters in a way. Cheering on Addie and Feylin as they interacted and rolling my eyes at their mishaps.
However, there were some things that made this fall flat for me. For one it felt a little too instalove for me. Without saying too much, the speed of things was really fast paced and not in an action packed way so to speak. But I felt there was a lot of jumping from one issue to the next without really much context. Furthermore, I felt that the lore and world building behind all the magical rules and beings could have been explained in depth a little more. Instead it felt very glossed over and made it seem like we should already know the rules. I get that there’s supposed to be some build up to certain reveals but there was no explanation as to why things were the way that they were. I also have a love hate relationship with the miscommunication trope, and the way it was used here could have been avoiaded simply if the there was communication between the characters. Granted I know this is why it’s called miscommunication but with how quickly everything went down between the witches and fae so much could have been avoided between a third and act breakup with Addie and Feylin. Also, the big reveal didn’t really have any build up. I would never have guessed that the ‘villain’ was who it was because there were no clues and they appeared only three to four times on the page.
But despite these things this book was still a cute read. I enjoyed Addie’s ability to pick the perfect book for a person and at times the book gave off Beauty and the Beast vibes! (Spoiler: the library scene!) I am curious to see how the rest of this series will pan out. It seems each book will focus on a different one of Addie’s sister’s, and since there are a total of 7 girls we will be in for a ride. Especially with how this book’s epilogue ended!

I was instantly interested in this book by the cover when I saw it on Netgalley and the description made me request the ARC.
Addie is a witch with no powers and Feylin is a grump fae king. Addie might not have magic, but her family owns a magically book store that allows you to literally jump into the story. Addie and Feylin accidentally end up engaged and bound by an ancient spell at the ball her family threw to marry off Addie and her sisters to save their magic. Their pairing was not easily accepted as the fae and the witches don’t like each other and Addie and Feylin are two very different people. This book follows the story of their fake engagement while Addie is forced to live in the fae castle with Feylin due to the spell. They both face ups and downs throughout the story, but eventually both find out the truth and find their HEA.
The story kept me interested throughout the whole book. Addie and Feylin were good characters with their own pasts and struggles. I loved how it was set in modern day with modern technology. Most fantasy’s are set in very different times so it was a nice change. It was a little slow moving at times, but not to the point where I ever became uninterested. I usually don’t read many slow burns, but I didn’t mind the slow build up in this book. It made sense for the characters and their story. The epilogue leaves the story open for a continuation so I’m interested to see where this goes next. Definitely check this book out if you like any of the main troupes or a modern day set fantasy.

I LOVED this story! It felt so unique and fun. I loved Addie’s problem, Feylin’s problem, their problems together, the suspense, and the happy ending! The information revealed about the big secret was revealed in a great pace to keep the book intriguing. Feylin’s acts of love were PERFECT I literally cried when they were at the tailor’s. So many bits of dialogue and inner feelings were so beautiful and perfect. The author captured actual emotions in her writing and I felt just as joyous, heartbroken, and loved as the characters did. The only thing I didn’t love was the very very end in the epilogue (won’t display so it isn’t spoiled!) but it reads like it is set up for a sequel. I’m definitely interested to see what happens next, and the next story may make me love the very end as well!

Excellent read. Really enjoyable. Exquisitely written with relatable and likable characters and beautiful world-building. 100% would recommend to all of my friends and fellow book lovers.

This was such a fun, cute, quick read. Addie is such an interesting character to follow, a witch without magic, but who is still expected to marry for the family magic to continue. I felt so bad for Addie, living the best life she can without magic and then it all comes falling down with a few words. Enter Feylin, an arrogant Fae King who wants all the revenge.
This book made me laugh a lot, especially with all the funny cultural references throughout. I am so excited for the next book which I really hope is about Blaire.

this one didn’t do it for me guys i REALLY tried but i couldn’t dnf halfway through 💔 (i should’ve).
also the ending confused the hell outta me and now i’m concerned there may be more….

3.5/5
Synopsis: A witch makes a deal to be fake engaged to a fae king..this was basically a fantasy book in rom com form!
Pros: I thought it was pretty cute! I’ve read some other witchy books (ex hex etc) and I enjoyed this way more!
Cons: However, this was pretty cheesy. I didn’t think it was exceptionally written, but I still enjoyed it!
Thank you to NetGalley for this arc! Check it out when it’s released Feb 25!
Ps…this is going to be a series of seven books following each witch sister which is fun.

Thank you to Amy Boyles and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book!
This book was so freaking good that I just want to be transported into this world to live amongst this cozy chaotic fantasy world that this author has created.
The premise of this book gives such strong Bridgerton vibes but really in the best way possible. Addie and Feylin's entire dynamic is so freaking sweet. I will say I didn't get the enemies-to-lovers vibe from this. Mainly because only Feylin thought that they were enemies. But, even then he never really treated her with any sort of malice, he was really sweet to her for the most part.
I cannot recommend this book more! If you love a good cozy romantasy 100% you have to read this.

Addie is through with men. She's had her heart broken more than enough for her lack of magic. As if being a witch with no magic wasn't embarrassing enough to make her want to move away from home, now her boyfriend has dumped her because of it. When her grandmother suddenly passes, Addie is forced to go home and accept her family responsibilities. As the oldest sister, she is expected to stick around, get married, and run the magical bookshop that her family owns. What she doesn't expect is to puke on a fae hottie and get swept up in a magical fake engagement.
I thought this book was super cute. It made me chuckle several times. Addie is very relatable and Feylin complements her nicely. I love a good fake relationship moment and the forced proximity addition here is perfect. A magical tether is such a good opportunity for humor and it was used well. I enjoyed the book and the romance between Addie and Feylin. Was it fairly predictable? Yes. Did I still do the happy dance at the end? Yes. I will probably continue this series to see what is in store for Blair.

This story had me hooked from the start. It is just the right level of fantasy for me, light-hearted and not complicated to keep up with. Addie is a witch who never gained her magic and has decided to live with mostly humans until her grandmother dies. She is magiced home but upon arrival barfs on the shoes of a handsome fea, Feylin. For a variety of reasons, she and Feylin decided to have a fake engagement and end up living together at Feylin's castle.
As their fake engagement plays out, they both discover the importance of accepting yourself for who you are and forgiveness. This book had a fun and hopeful feel throughout and appears to be the start of new a series. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
If you’re looking for a cute, funny and slightly spicy romance, this book is for you! It has interesting tropes such as fake engagement, forced proximity, grumpy x sunshine.
Unfortunately, this book wasn’t for me. I love rom-coms with clumsy characters who find themselves in impossibly absurd situations but it was a bit too much of that for me. I found Addison annoying at times, especially her lack of communication!!
I preferred Feylin, at least until the end when he does something I find unforgivable to Addie (and she isn’t even mad at him, it’s not realistic).
I enjoyed the world building, it had some interesting concepts (like the magical bookstore where you can literally visit your favorite book, that’s every reader’s dream!!), but I honestly wished for more. The author just explains enough for the sake of the plot and doesn’t dive deeper into the world despite the huge potential. In my opinion, the story could have used more descriptions and more depth.
This book wasn’t my cup of tea, but if you’re looking for an accessible romantasy book that goes straight to the point and has funny banters, you might enjoy it!

4.5 ⭐️ Thank you to netgalley, ladybugbooks and the author for this amazing eARC.
This was such a fun and pleasant read. The perfect palette cleanser and fantasy mixed in with classic rom-com vibes.
The opening reminded me of Legally Blonde (which I adore). The MMC is described like Henry Cavill (literally, swoon) and the FMC is an adorable witch. They end up having to enter a fake relationship in order to appease their families and communities.
Some of the twists were predictable but for the most part this book is really unique.
I’m assuming the upcoming books will follow more of the witches and I’m really looking forward to the storylines left open in the epilogue!

Overall 3.5⭐️
Thank you NetGalley, Victory Editing, and Amy Boyles for allowing me access to this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Initially I was drawn to this book because of the title and the cover art but after reading it I can say I truly enjoyed this cozy fantasy. It didn't have a large epic plot but it was a nice romcom style romantasy that I think fit into the cozy fantasy genre that has emerged over the past few years.
I would recommend this book to my friends who enjoy fake engagements, bookshop romance, enemies to lovers, witch x fae romance, forced proximity, and spice. I was in a reading slump after finishing a long and dark fantasy series and this book helped to get me out of the slump. It was not too serious of a book but had funny banter and clear character chemistry that wasn't an instalove or very short enemies to lovers plot. I really enjoyed the book and I am excited for others to read it!
