This book has one of my favourite tropes - the fake-dating trope! Throw in the fact it’s also a fantasy read and it’s ticking a lot of my boxes. This was my first of Amy Boyles’ books but I’ll definitely be picking up more. Addie has to return to her home town, within hours of being dumped by her boyfriend, for a family emergency. She isn’t expecting to run into a man in the street on her way to her family’s house, and one embarrassing encounter later, little does she know she’s certainly left an impression on him.

Due to her family’s waning magic, Addie’s in need of a husband, and Feylin’s after revenge, but his thoughts seem stuck on Addie and he finds himself making an offer she can’t refuse which leads to these two spending a lot of time together in his castle, while trying hard not to fall for each other. Feylin is obviously a kind man and it was sweet to see his concern for stubborn, magicless Addie. The development of their relationship was fun to read and I also loved Addie’s relationship with Feylin’s nephew, Rhyals. There is third act drama in this and I felt really bad for Addie for everyone else’s behaviour that led to it. It’s safe to say Feylin didn’t seem so kind and caring anymore and he definitely behaved outrageously, and I’m still not sure I’ve forgiven him. Overall this was a fun read and I’d definitely read more books from Amy Boyles.

I received a free copy of this book. All views are my own.

These days, whenever I find a paranormal romcom type book, I have to go for it. The sub genre has just been pulling me in lately and getting a chance to experience this one early was awesome! Dove in almost as soon as I got the approval. Thank you so much to the author and publishers for the chance to read an early copy.

Both sides out to find a marriage match for different reasons, one to save the family magic and the other to appease a council of fae. Plus a mention of Bridgerton vibes? Sold!

✨fake dating
✨accidental bonds
✨witch and fae
✨grumpy/sunshine
✨secrets
✨forced proximity

Honestly from the moment I picked up the book, it felt like I’d been sucked into the story within its (electronic) pages just like the Thornrose family could drop townsfolk into fictional tales. I mean, I stayed up LATE to finish this one at a little after one in the morning. And I rarely find a book that can keep me from my beloved time for sleep. The banter flowed so smoothly, the setup for the sisters and need to save the family magic believable and engaging, and Feylin’s chemistry with Addie wonderful.

Like the synopsis says, definite Bridgerton vibes in the marriage balls scenario for the town’s well-known family and the fact that the seven sisters are all named alphabetically in order of age. It could be considered silly, but I found it helpful in keeping track of so many characters and who was which sister. Plus gotta love that classic run-in at a ball moment where the two main characters don’t know the name of each other but are undeniably attracted to the other. I couldn’t put the book down!

I will say I did not see that ending in the epilogue coming—well one part of it I did for the next sister’s tale—but dang did it intrigue me for what was to come next.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (4.5 stars)

This book was way better than I expected! It really has everything you wish for: enemies to lovers, love at first sight and some humor. Definately doesn't miss the magic part and has great characters you fall in love with immediately! It was such a joy to follow them along their journey that was full of emotion and some spice!

This story starts with Addison, portraying her as a witch residing on the fringes of witch society and coexisting with humans due to her lack of the expected magical abilities. When Addison's wizard boyfriend breaks up with her right before her Grandmother's funeral, she is compelled to return home. However, upon her arrival, she discovers that her family's magic is waning, and the only solution is marriage.

In an unexpected turn of events, Feylin, a man who captivates and frustrates Addison simultaneously, emerges as a potential resolution to her problems. Their agreement involves pretending to be engaged, both for mutual beneficial motives. Feylin intervenes to support Addie when she faces humiliation from her ex at the ball, leading to an unforeseen connection (the "joining") that forces Addie to relocate to Feylin's castle.

Navigating their fabricated relationship, they collaborate to convince the Fae and witch kind that their love is genuine. However, as time elapses, doubts about the authenticity of their feelings emerge, culminating in an unforeseen event that tears them apart.

The characters, especially Addie and Feylin, possess charm and relatability, drawing readers into their evolving romance. Addie's spirited personality and Feylin's wry humor contribute to the story's appeal.

Overall this was a great story. I will definitely continue the series.

A beautifully charming read from start to finish, this book has everything you could hope for. with enemies to lovers, Love at first sight, Magic, unlocking ones potential, betrayal, confessions, and a good spattering of spice.

Follow Addie as she returns home for her grandmothers funeral, only to be thrust into a limelight she's desperately tried to avoid. being without magic all her life, she wants to do what needs to be done and then leave her hometown forever... she never expected to run into the dashing Fey King... literally... or to puke on his shoes... so when they end up magically bound to one another, they decide to use each other for their mutual benefit feelings were never supposed to enter the equation.

This absolutely lovely and emotional romance really surprised me with how much I loved it! As someone who reads mostly high fantasy, this book read closer to magical realism for me. Normally that would be a struggle for me to get into, but I was hooked immediately! I stayed up until 3 am reading this.

The characters (all of them, not just the leads) are lovable and immediately felt like my old friends. I also just absolutely loved reading about an FMC who wasn't 19; as a woman who just turned 30, I felt very seen in this story!

This story was rich and emotional; it had me laughing and crying and dying to know what would happen next.

Absolutely a 5 star read for me, and I can't wait to read all the sisters' stories!!

Alright so I didn’t really know what to expect from this book having never read anything by this author but the summary sounded fun and it was!

I really enjoyed the banter between our two love interests and their relationship developed realistically over a span of getting to know each other due to forced proximity.

Addison is the eldest daughter of a magical witch family that is slowly losing their magic because they need to marry and Feylin is a fae king who needs to marry due to pressure from the fae lords. Neither one know their connected by more than just having similar needs.

I really enjoyed this cute fake dating/engagement love story and will continue to read the rest of her series to come. If you love funny banter and fluffy love stories this one is for you. Although I do think Feylin could have groveled just a little bit more hehe.

Absolutely loved this book. It was amazing love story that grabbed me from the first page. We all know we want a feylin in our lives. I would like to read more books specifically about addie and feylin, especially such as her adventures as the new Queen. Also how the wizard got stuck in a mirror.

Will be a feel good book that I will go back to.

✨"Magic isn't something you can touch, and often the only way to get at it is to free
yourself, to be who you were meant to be."✨

🔮 Addie is a witch and she is the first among her sisters to have to marry to keep her family's magic alive. The problem? Addie is also the only member of the family who is without powers, which is why she has always been dumped by any boy she has dated thus coming to hide her insecurities behind a mask made of optimism and smiles.
Feylin is one of the Kings of the Fae and is the complete opposite of Addie :he always wears a cold and composed mask , but behind it a wounded person ,with a heart of gold and not fully accepted by his own race.

🔮In spite of the fact that they both have to marry for different reasons both of them aren’t loving the idea...so what could be better than a fake engagement accidentally triggered by an ancient fae magic that forces them to always be close? So take the hatred between witches and fa , a forced closeness and a slow burn and you have Feylin and Addie. I loved the tension , the constant poking at each other and slowly seeing their masks dissolve to reveal two people who in the end turn out to be not so different from each other.

✨This is one of those books full of dancing, magic and secrets that can't help but be a cuddle and get devoured in a day, so I can't help but recommend it to you!

Overall rating: 3.5/5 stars

Pick this up if you’re looking for a whimsical read with a bit of spice!

This book follows Addie, a witch without any magical powers. Her lack of magical ability leaves her stuck somewhere between the humans and the witches, unable to relate strongly to anyone. When Addie’s grandmother passes, it becomes clear that Addie and her six witch sisters must marry to help strengthen her family’s remaining magical power.

When heading home for her grandmother’s funeral, Addie quite literally bumps into Feylin, the King of the Fae, perceived rival to all witches. In a twist of fate, Addie and Faylin become magically bound and engaged for marriage.

I thought this book had a great plot to help progress the story. Once engaged, Addie and Feylin must complete a series of magical trials to prove their marriage is true. For a non-magic person, this certainly proved to be a challenge.

While this was ultimately a fantasy book, I’d consider it to be light fantasy, as there’s not a ton of world building and the characters are very contemporary.

Looking forward to what comes next in this new series! Thank you to NetGalley and the publishing team at Victory Editing for providing me with a digital ARC for review.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and Ladybugbooks for this arc!

This book made me laugh, cry, and kick my legs up giggling!
It was such a magical read, the perfect witchy romcom.

The vibes-Cozy
The perfect amount of spice
Fun and flirty banter.

I will say I didn’t care for the Henry Cavill comparisons or talk in the book. I know all the girls love him but NOT all the girls love him..

Otherwise I truly enjoyed this book

I was promised ACOTAR meets Bridgerton and received neither, unfortunately. The name “Feylin” was a bit much. Like. We all know who that is, right? No bueno.

In terms of the character Feylin, yes. Yes please. Cute as a button.

Addie. Girl. Ask some questions. Please and thank you.

A great example of romantasy. Lovers of this sub-genre will enjoy this story and be hoping for more to come. An enemies to lovers story involving fae and witches. The protagonist Addie will win your heart from the first chapter on and you will be rooting for her to find true love.

I loved the cover and the premise was interesting! This book started with an Elle Woods style breakup and I found it fun, the last few pages definitely felt abrupt and shocked me out of the story for sure. Overall, a fun book that I found enjoyable, if familiar, with one sharp twist at the end that I honestly didn't expect would happen. 3.5/5

Think Encanto meets Beauty and the Beast.
"How To Fake It With A Fae" offers the reader a charming twist on the classic romance theme.

Addie Thornrose is a witch whose powers haven't manifested, but she absolutely loves books and can choose the perfect book for everyone. She should be taking over the family's magical bookshop one day. However, Addie can't do magic, so she works at a regular bookshop until she is summoned home and arrives from the portal feeling sick and vomits onto a stranger's shoes.
Her family's magic is at risk and it needs Addie and her sisters to marry to strengthen their family's magic. Her Aunt gets planning a ball for Addie to find her a suitor as she is the eldest of the Thornrose girls.
Following an unpleasant run in with her past, Addie is ready to leave the ball when she bumps into Feylin, the King of the Fae, who, of course, just so happens to be the stranger whose shoes she vomited on.
Feylin comes to Addie's rescue when she is humiliated by her ex, but his actions cause them to become "joined" and Addie immediately has to move in to the castle with Feylin. Her family are wary, and rightly so, as Feylin has a huge secret he's keeping from Addie, but she is also keeping a secret of her own...
As they navigate their new "relationship", they must work together to convince the Fae that theirs is a true love in order to be accepted, but, as time passes, both Addie and Feylin question whether they are faking it at all, until something happens that rips them apart...

The plot weaves family dynamics, unexpected engagements, and the complexities of true love, creating a captivating narrative.

The characters, particularly Addie and Feylin, are endearing and relatable, making it easy to get invested in their unfolding romance. I love Addie's sassy nature and Feylin's dry humour, as well as Addie's relationship with her sister, Blair.

Addie's unavoidable proximity to Feylin (cue some hilariously awkward scenarios!) adds a delightful layer of humour to the story and the anticipation of each ceremony and the underlying mystery surrounding Feylin's true intentions keep the reader engaged throughout.

Boyle skillfully introduces the Thornrose family and hints at potential future stories for Addie's sisters in the epilogue, leaving readers eager for more magical adventures. The promise of Blair's story, hinting at an enemies-to-lovers plot, adds an exciting prospect for future installments, which I'd definitely read.

Overall, "How to Fake It with a Fae" is a lovely, cozy read that successfully combines magic, romance, and humour.

Fans of fairy-tale-inspired romances will appreciate the enchanting world Boyle has crafted, making it a delightful addition to the genre.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for this ARC.

Ok cards on the table I thought the cover looked interesting but when I started reading this was horrified at how it started because it felt like it was heading to instant lust/love without any real substance. Plus I really wasn't in the mood for something very light and frothy panned out with lots of saucy scenes. So imagine my delight as I carried on reading and the author crafted a story of two people learning about each other and in spite of preconceived ideas actually falling in love !
This whilst not perfect was an entertaining read. I loved the idea of a magical bookstore and I think that should have had slightly more page room because the whole idea of the families magic disappearing was clearly connected. Honestly everyone needing a husband like yesterday wasn't really explained enough and that's where this book loses a star. There's a lot we are not told until the end about the Witches and the problems with the Fae. No spoilers but it's a good thing this couple truly learned to love each other because frankly this wasn't amusing or funny and actually kind of tragic. I very much enjoyed the romance between the couple and sincerely hope the next sister doesn't have to wade through too many secrets.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

In this enchanting tale, our main character, a magic-deprived witch, navigates a life of rejection and heartbreak from magical suitors. Enter the Fae king, with a personal vendetta against her witchy family. Despite their mutual disdain, a fateful encounter sparks undeniable chemistry, leading to an unexpected proclamation of ownership. Amidst witty banter and tension, this story unfolds into a journey of self-love, acceptance, and healing. A feel-good read with well-crafted characters, leaving me eagerly anticipating tales of the other sisters.

I've read. a lot of Amy Boyles work, she has many other series. This was the first 'open door' book of hers I have read. As a writer, her work engages you in that just entertaining enough way. How to Fake It With A Fae is the start of a series of books about seven sisters - a concept I love. I'm excited to read the rest of the journeys of the sisters, and I loved their alphabet names too.
Addie and Feylin are interesting characters, and ultimately I enjoyed their ending.
