One of the best summer books I've read for a long time I have always been a fan of Sarah Morgan’s books and this doesn't disappoint.

Thank you NetGalley, HQ and Sarah Morgan for this EARC in exchange for my honest review.

Sarah Morgan is my auto buy author! For years I have devoured her books, and The Summer Swap is another great one!

Here we have our main characters meeting, discovering how their lives are intertwined and blossoming a beautiful friendship. Unexpected friendships between Cecilia and Lily, provide support and a listening ear, allowing them to accept their pasts and move on for a happy future.

A good mix of second chance romances and family dramas - The Summer Swap is the perfect beach read. Loved everything about it! Showing that we can find love and happiness whatever our age!

A nice and easy summer read, however not my favourite by this particular author.

Let's start with the good stuff: I always enjoy Sarah Morgan's exploration of different relationships and friendships, not just focusing on the generic romantic connections. In "The Summer Swap" we meet several different dynamics, from parent-child, multi-generational and a romantic rekindling. I love the setting - the Cape seems like somewhere I'd really love to visit and I got heavy summer vibes throughout.

The let downs: I wanted more from the characters! I felt I only got a very surface level appreciation for each of them, and their relationships. There might have been one relationship too many to do them all justice (sorry Lily & Todd, you've gotta go).

Overall, an easy beach read that you can pick up & put down while on holiday, and sometimes that's just what you want!

I have always been a huge fan of the well-known writer Susan Morgan. Her stories are always mesmerising and leave me feeling inspired and uplifted.

Once again, this talented author has created a captivating tale that had me hooked. The writing is flawless, perfectly balancing plot advancement and emotional depth. This book is ideal for anyone seeking a cosy read to transport them to another world. From beginning to end, I savoured every moment of this new release.

I highly recommend reading this story about second chances at love and life.

4.5* rounded up, think it could have had a better title.

I always love Sarah Morgan’s books, she’s an author that I go for, without even reading the blurb. Tales of 3 women who aren’t in a good place - for a variety of reasons, and finding the space to explore their dreams rather than do what society or their families expect of them.

I think the daughter’s story was the least developed But i enjoyed them all.

I really enjoyed this book. There were so many twists and turns; and the fact that the tale is told from different perspectives, from people of different ages and totally different sides of the story made this even more interesting, especially when all of the dots were joined together by the various characters - from the family links, to the art (the twist at the end with the art and Jeff was not expected), and the relationships from childhood from Todd and Hannah and Lily.

This was a holiday and an escape book and a family drama all in one.

Must read - I love Sarah Morgan's books!

Sarah Morgan has done it again with another fabulous novel with The Summer Swap. I just couldn’t put it down and for me her books just keep getting better. Cape Cod, romance spanning three generations…you must read The Summer Swap this summer!

This book is set in Cape Cod- descriptions of which make it sound beautiful. The story follows 3 main female characters- dealing with personal issues like Grief, marital problems amd major life decisions. All the characters were likable and enjoyed their journey and personal growth and resolutions.
Really enjoyed this book

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this interesting book

cecilia, kristen and lily all have come to the end of their tether, this is their story....

cecilia is overwhelmed and when she runs off to the cape without telling her family she needs the distance and solitude that she will hopefully find there

kristen is cecilias daughter but her life is complicated, things need to change but how... with her father gone and the birthday party she was organising for her mothers birthday and a celebration of her fathers life... she cant understand why everything is falling apart and with her mother running off things are about to get awkward...

lily a would be artist but a miserable trainee doctor, her life is a mess so shes hiding out at the cape trying to put her life into some sort of order after walking away from her medical career, she needs this time for herself to find her art and what she wants to do with her life, can she make a career out of it but at the moment she is drained from it all

cecilia, kristen and lily have a journey to take and here is their story... and what a journey of discovery it is....a lovely book that needs to be read in quiet and contemplative silence with a glass of wine or two....

This is one strong life teaching read,
It’s all about finding your true self as the characters discover. Cecilia who is learning to cope after the death of husband Cameron, who was a big name in the art world. Her daughter Kirsten who lives in the shadow of husband Theo who is a well known surgeon. Then there is Lily (the star of the show) who is hiding away after having dropped out of medical school, only to be discovered by Cecilia who is familiar with Lily as she was her granddaughter Hannah’s best friend until they had a fall out when Hannah failed to understand Lily’s true feelings for giving up on medical school. So the characters are intertwined, can they manage to teach one another new life skills? Aiding each others recovery.
I guarantee once you start reading you won’t be able to put it down.
My favourite character was Lily who seemed to take the circular route to find herself.
Well worth all stars.

It’s that time of year again when I dive into a Sarah Morgan summer novel, and I was excited about this one. The Summer Swap focuses on two women — Cecilia, recently widowed at 75, and Lily, recently having left medical school to become an artist — who meet at a seemingly abandoned cottage on the shores of Cape Cod.

Switching between these two characters, we get to know them and their families — and how they intertwine. There is also a scattering of chapters from the point of view of Cecilia’s daughter, Kristen, with whom she has a tense relationship. Kristen is also the mother of Lily’s long-time crush, Todd, and her previous best friend, Hannah. And the there is the matter of a missing painting, The Girl on the Shore…

I love Sarah Morgan’s books, and this was once again written with Morgan’s warmth and empathy. Her books really are pick-me-up-reads and guarantee a happy ending. Sadly, this one missed the mark a bit for me — I think it was Kristen, to be honest, because every time the chapter changed to her arc, I lost interest and found it a real slog. I loved the relationships between Cecilia, Lily, and Todd, and also later characters in the novel, such as Seth.

The setting was evocative and wonderful, and I really enjoyed the refurbishment of Dune Cottage and the concept of places full of memories. The plot was somewhat predicable but reassuringly so, and I could see some of the twists coming but didn’t mind them at all because the characters made this so very engaging.

I did read this in two sittings and I did enjoy it, just not as much as other books from Morgan. That’s on me, though, and I would still really recommend this as a great beach read or feel-good selection depending on what you need.

I received an e-ARC from the publisher, HQ, through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Furthermore, in the interests of transparency, I know the author via Facebook.

I started reading this, got about 20% in and gave up because it just wasn't drawing me in. Decided to give it another go and literally read it in one sitting. Ended up loving it!

The Summer Swap is the perfect multi-generational story.

This is a touching tale about familial expectation, love, forgiveness and forging a life that makes you happy. Whilst focussed on those poignant topics faced by women in various stages of life, Morgan still manages to keep it light-hearted and an effortlessly enjoyable read.

The setting of Cape Cod is perfect for the Summer season, and will have you wishing for your own beachside villa with plenty of beautiful coastline to explore.

Great read, particularly for those who appreciate a little more depth in women’s fiction.

I don’t think I have ever encountered a family, where each member was in the middle of a crisis- a life changing crisis.!
In some respects I found this book too full of emotion, too many heart searching decisions to be made, too many emotional pathways to be taken.
However, the setting was amazing and the cabin description made me want to stay there. The characters were easy to visualise but perhaps a little stereotypicable.
Overall it was an enjoyable story and a great escape.

4.5 stars
Cute family story. Perfect for a summer read. The setting was like I was on holiday loved it would recommend.

I don't know how she does it with such regularity, but Sarah Morgan never fails to hit the spot with exactly what you need in a holiday read. Believable plot, relateable characters, warmth and intrigue and this time, reassuringly, a couple in their 70s who manage to reignite their relationship after about 50 years. I cannot recommend Morgan highly enough.

I’ve been transported to Cape Cod with Sarah Morgan’s new uplifting read, The Summer Swap. With the sound of the wind and the sea it’s been very easy to imagine life at Dune Cottage.
I’ve loved meeting Cecilia and Lily - both of them at a point in their lives when courage is needed to decide the best route to follow. Relatable and likeable, both women have felt alone in their world but upon meeting at the cottage, this changes for the better. Both of them on the road for new beginnings.
Sarah Morgan always writes such great stories, full of the best parts of humanity and love, and I can’t wait for the next from her later in the year
