You May Now Kill The Bride by Kate Watson is a darkly humorous, twist-filled mystery that adds a sinister edge to the traditional wedding story. The novel follows the chaotic lead-up to a wedding, where the bride, the maid of honor, and the other wedding party members all harbor secrets, betrayals, and hidden motives. When murder strikes, it turns the celebration into a deadly game of deception. Watson skillfully balances suspense, wit, and unexpected turns, crafting a thrilling, fast-paced read. Fans of mystery and dark comedy will enjoy this engaging, high-stakes tale of love, lies, and murder.

This book was an ok read but seemed to lack any real depth or substance. It was an easy read but missing the mystery and suspense element.

A good wedding thriller book
But also funny aswell
Characters who are truly awful
But make it a great read
Thanks NetGalley

This book was great fun!! I read it in the summer which was the perfect time to read. Would highly recommend for those looking for a twisty read

Unfortunately this one wasn’t for me, it just dragged on and I got half way through before it was a DNF.
I’ve given it a 3 as I’m trying to be fair as I don’t know how it ends

This is a fun twist on a whodunit, as a bride-to-be is killed at her hen party, and it soon becomes clear that one of her best friends was likely involved somehow!
We follow each of her friends as they deal with the aftermath and each other, as more bodies start to drop…
This was a fun read, and had some genuinely funny moments. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a “cosy crime” read.
My thanks to the author, NetGalley, and the publisher for the arc to review.

A fun read with murders galore. Enjoyed it and will read more from the author in the future based on this.

As five friends join together at a hen party to celebrate the marriage of one of them a murder occurs, and the reader is taken on a rollercoaster ride of murder and mayhem. Old secrets are uncovered and skeletons in the cupboard has thoroughly rattled much to the discomfort of many of the characters. This book certainly put a smile on my face at times, as the worst of each character came to the fore. They were certainly quite an unlovable. An easy read with some very novel murders. Many thanks to NetGalley, and the publisher for the ARC of this novel in return for an honest review

This sounded like such a great concept but it didn't quite deliver for me.
First of all, none of the 'friends' feel particularly distinct and it almost takes you a while to differentiate who is who and one from another.
And I wasn't necessarily rooting for any of the characters either.
The humour also didn't quite work for me.
It was a quick, easy read and I did like the flashbacks but it wasn't my favourite and didn't really live up to my expectations.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my copy of this e-arc
I really wanted to love this book but I felt as every corner the women were all secretly pitted against one another for them to fail at somepoint.
They seemed as though they didn’t really like each other and it felt quite predictable what was happening

A bachelorette party in the weekend supposedly isnt? But at You May Now Kill the Bride, this mean the bride to be choked to death and all of the bridesmaids are suspected.
Kate Weston is new name for me. I think she gave us very interesting premise on this cozy thriller. Her narrative is actually entertaining with satire and darker sense of humor. I am not always in tune with that but really appreciate her efforts to make this book light, twisty fun and page turning. The characters are unlikable but I think it is author's intention. And the plot actually brimming with potential to become stronger.
Overall this is a fun reads and easy to follow mystery.
Thank you Netgalley and Headline Publisher for providing copy of this ebook. I have voluntarily read and reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Expecting Publication : 23 May 2024

I've only ever read one other Weston book before, a YA one, and unfortunately, I preferred it over this. I felt like this one just took too long to get started and it was drawn out in places certain things could have been cut.

I was drawn to You May Now Kill The Bride by the fun title and cover, and I thought the synopsis was interesting. However, I was disappointed by the execution in several ways.
First and foremost, I thought this was going to be a mystery novel with some humor sprinkled through it, but this book was actually just a lot of drama and b*tching between "friends", and once in a while a dead body shows up. Although all friends have their own secrets (which makes the story a tiny bit mysterious), the main focus was always on the drama.
Secondly, I wasn't a fan of the writing style. It was written in 3rd person, and it wasn't like you were in one person's head, no, the thoughts of ALL characters were shown. It was honestly very tiresome to discern who was thinking what and who the "she" was the sentence was about.
Thirdly, the characters fell flat for me. I didn't like any of them and didn't connect with them. This could be due to the writing style.
Another thing I didn't like was the amount of drinking (alcohol) and smoking. It felt very unnecessary for the plot to include it that much. There was no point in them being drunk for a good chunk of the book.
Lastly, I found the ending very unsatisfying. I don't wanna spoil anyone, so I'll just leave at that.
If you love to read about a lot of drama and b*tching between women in their thirties, then you might want to give this book a shot. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it. I'm sad I didn't like this one more.
*Thanks to NetGalley and Headline for an eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

3.5 stars, took a while to grab my attention, quite predictable but overall I did read it and enjoy it. Some dark humour which I really liked, felt it needed more mystery I had a good idea who the murderer was quite early on.

This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year, so thank you to Headline for granting my wish on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!
I really did enjoy the story. All of the secrets and the drama as they unfolded had me hooked, and you can always rely on Kate to have a few laughs in there as well, even when people are literally being murdered. I enjoyed the Eastenders references, and the book as a whole did make me feel as though it was something straight from the soap.
However, this book made me realise I don't think I like third person. I'm not sure why, maybe because there are so many characters, and we're going straight from one to another, but I struggled a bit to get stuck in at first. I will say, though, that when it got going and I got used to it, I did really enjoy it.
Overall, it was a fun read with lots of secrets between lifelong friends, and I'm glad I got the opportunity to read it. Thanks again Headline, and I can't wait to read Kate's next book! Not long to go!

YOU MAY NOW KILL THE BRIDE is a funny, gripping tale of childhood best friends with secrets desperately trying to hide them as various wedding related events end in death.
This is a book that escalates from one (by the rest of the book's standards) tame murder to full on mania. It's hysterical at times, the situations so outlandish but absolutely in keeping with how fast the book dials everything up. The stakes are high and the body count higher as the friends try to keep one bridezilla from rampaging, careers from crashing and burning, and secrets from spilling.
There are all sorts of secrets which I really wanted the answers too. There are the group secrets and the individual ones, a knotty web tying them together and giving them plenty of motives. I really enjoyed how it all came together.
I liked that these women weren't the most likeable, their friendship continuing because it was so long and built on secrets. Saskia left them behind when she married rich, Farah is a nightmare bride, Lauren is hung up on a man and very passive, Dominica is a bit too intense at times, Tansy never thinks about anyone else. It's a portrait of female friendship forged long ago, the complex feelings of someone always being a part of your life but not necessarily liking who they've become.
The men take the back seat in this book, most of them sleazy and taking the women for granted. I never suspected any of them, they were secondaries and most of them not smart enough to pull this off (or too squeamish to handle things like vaginal eggs). They'd just throw money at the problem and "boys club" their way out of the situation. This is about the women and who's turned on the others and why.

Kate Weston has such a wicked sense of humour that I adore. I loved Murder on a School Night and knew I had to pick up her adult thriller debut. This was tongue in cheek, twisty and terribly enjoyable.

Five women, friends since school, are attending a hen party. When one of them is murdered, everyone is under suspicion. What follows is a tad farcical, more hen parties, more murders. Can they finally uncover the truth and stop the deaths?
I really enjoyed the more comedic elements of the book (I laughed out loud at the Blackpool bike section!), and enjoyed the sarcastic interactions. Some of the twists I guessed, others were a bit less obvious. Overall a fun read, but the reader needs to be clear on the genre - you are not getting a serious thriller, more a comedy murder mystery!

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were engaging and I had no clue who the killer was.
The friendships felt real - in the way that you feel tied to childhood friends whether you like them as adults or not.
My only stumbling block was the jump in narrative perspective that often left me a step behind whose perspective I was in.
A great read that I will definitely be recommending.

With a title like that, I was always going to read this. Thanks so much to Headline for granting my wish on NetGalley for this book.
What a fun and entertaining read. This did make me laugh many times. I really enjoy a murder book laced with humour. None of these characters were particularly likeable and any of them could have been the killer. A bride to be murdered at her hen do… tell me more.
Definitely kept me guessing, changing my mind throughout as to who was the killer. A fun popcorn thriller, worth the read.
