In Freida McFadden’s new book, a teenage girl has had a terrible beginning to her school year, but finds comfort in a new series of activities and the attention of a very special teacher…

I listened to the audiobook version of this novel, and as I was listening, I knew I was making incredulous and disappointed faces for the last, what, 45 minutes of the book?

The heck I just read??

So Addie is a “troubled teen” and rumors surround her and her relationship with a (former) teacher. Other students think she either had a relationship with her former math teacher, or didn’t stand up for him when he was accused of molesting her. Either way, a cloud follows her around and is tormented relentlessly, by one girl in particular. She finds comfort in her English teacher, who happens to be married to her most hated teacher: the dreaded math teacher! Weirdness and tomfoolery ensue.

I can’t really say much more about the plot, cause the whole book is a spoiler. If you like twisty psychologically messy books, you’ll probably like this. I found it to be ok, but McFadden asks the reader to stretch incredulity to unreasonable lengths, and I kind of felt cheated at the end. That said, I did listen to the end, so make of that what you will 😆

I received a free audiobook copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

I was super excited when I received a copy of 'The Teacher'.

Reading too many Freida's made me guess the ending right, but there were other twists which I couldn't figure out. But, definitely a edge of your seat fast paced thriller read.

I always find a Freida McFadden book to be a fun escape. She has a quirky, dark sense of humor I enjoy. The plot is always well thought out and the character development is excellent. This story was no exception and it was paired up with such impeccable narrator’s. Leslie Howard is a favorite voice actor of mine with her melodic voice and pitch perfect expression. Danny Montooth voiced Nate and was terrific. As always, I’m looking forward to the next book. As the kids say, I’m a McFan!

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select and the author for an ALC of The Teacher.

No matter what I'm reading or doing at the moment, a Freida book becomes available....I'm dropping it
For the next 8 hours or so, don't bother me!
Luckily, it was an audiobook, so my family got their dinner 😂

The opens with an "unknown" digging a grave in the middle of nowhere.

Then it flashes back where we meet Eve and Nathaniel Bennett, both teachers at the same high school.
Eve is worried about having Addie in both their classes this year as she was caught up in a scandal that rocked Caseham High the year before..

Addie is a 16-year-old troubled and misguided plain Jane teenager. She's bullied by the popular kids and shunned by her former friends.

This year, all three lives will collide in this gripping thriller!
I totally advise you to go in as blind as possible to get the full effect of this fantastic book.

Frieda has definitely put out another fast-paced, addictive thriller that is impossible to put down.
The characters are well executed, and none of them are likable, which makes it even more engaging!

Short chapters make for easy reading/ listening, drawing you in even more. As per usual, you may need to suspend your beliefs and just enjoy the book for what it is - a fictional book that true fans will find engaging and reading late into the night and talking about the next day.

Oh! That final twist and the epilogue will leave you reeling! 🙀

🎧 narrated beautifully by #lesleyhoward and #dannymontooth. Their voices were perfection for this book.

"The Teacher" by Freida McFadden was a really captivating read. The story revolves around Eve, a high school math teacher, her husband, Nate, an English teacher, and her student, Addie, who is involved in a scandal. The author does a great job of exploring the theme of trust and deception, making me question each character's intentions and actions.
The book's story is made richer by the way it tells the same events from the point of view of different characters. We get to see how the lives of Addie, Eve, and Nate are connected and how their actions impact each other. Addie's character is fascinating, as she has a troubled past and sometimes behaves in ways that are hard to understand. The person narrating her and Eve's story, Leslie Howard, did a great job because I felt very connected to Addie or Eve, even though they can sometimes be unsettling.
McFadden's book was so fascinating that I couldn't put it down. The story is full of surprises and suspense, and the author's writing style is captivating. It transported me to Casham High and its secrets. The book digs into some serious issues like grooming, sexual assault, and gaslighting, but it does so sensitively and honestly that it encourages reflection. I appreciated how the author took the time to explore these topics in depth, which made the book even more thought-provoking.
If you enjoy books that keep you on the edge of your seat with interesting characters and a gripping story, I strongly suggest reading or better listening to "The Teacher." It's a book that will keep you hooked, and you won't want to put it down. Additionally, the audiobook version is fantastic, thanks to the brilliant narration by Leslie Howard and Danny Montooth, who make the story come alive.

The Teacher🍎
By Freida McFadden🔪

I devoured this book! Freida is the queen of thrillers. She never lets me down. I was hooked from page one to the very end. I thought this was a little different from her usual style, but it was still absolutely amazing. The characters, the plot twists—basically, everything was gold. The ending was phenomenal, too! Add this to your TBR now; you won’t regret it!

I was most intrigued with the brief synopsis I was provided with this book, and let me say, the synopsis pulled at me like gravity. I, like Eve, am a high school math teacher. I, like Eve, have witnessed the effects of a teacher/student relationship that may or may not have occurred where I taught. What this book provided was so much more, though! I loved the plot. I loved the character development. I love Freida McFadden! Yet, another five-star for Freida! Also, the narrators to all of Freida McFaddens books have always been spot on. This was an exciting listen!

Oh Freida McFadden, you've done it once again! Hooked right from the start, this book had me powering through the short chapters in urgency so I could see what happened. It was a fairly simple plot but I still managed to have my jaw dropped at the ending. The audiobook execution was on point. Tense, exciting and well written. I loved it!

A story that I didn't want to put down!

Step into the world of Casham High where the lives of three people - Eve, Nate, and Addie - intersect in unexpected ways. Eve and Nate are both teachers at the high school, but their marriage is threatened when Nate starts showing extra attention to Addie, a struggling student who has been caught up in a scandal and is now a target of bullying. Meanwhile, Addie is trying to keep her head down and avoid any more trouble, but it seems like fate has other plans in store for her. Will she be able to stay out of trouble and overcome the challenges in her life, or will she be dragged down into yet another school scandal?

This was my first taste of this author's writing, and it left me hungry for more! This was an absolute page-turner, filled with countless plot twists, some predictable and some unexpected. Nevertheless, I was completely captivated from start to finish, and would highly recommend it to anyone in search of a thrilling and unforgettable read!

***Thank you to NetGalley, Freida McFadden, and Dreamscape Select for graciously sending me the audiobook to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***

THE TEACHER ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. What a thriller! This book hooked me the very first chapter and left me speechless til the literal last page. Eve is a HS math teacher, married to another teacher at the same school. Addie is their mutual student who has been socially ostracized because of a scandal from the year prior. Told from their POVs, their lives intertwine way past the classroom. In true Freida form expect short chapters that will make it impossible to stop reading, and also expect twist and turns along the way!

Eve has a great life, husband, and job. Is her life as perfect as she makes it appear?
Addie rocked the high school last year with a scandal. Addie finds herself as Eve’s student this year.

As with any Freida book, you expect multiple twists. I was absolutely shocked by the twists that didn’t come until the last chapter and the epilogue. This is a must read!

Thank you to Freida McFadden, Dreamscape Select, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My goodness! What an amazing rollercoaster ride! I am used to Freida books having twists and turns but this one had some OMG moments! The ending threw me for a loop I was not expecting! I can't say enough about how good this book was.

Thank you for the opportunity to listen this ARC!

Freida McFadden is the queen of psychological thrillers! The twists in this book were superb. And the major twist at the end was so unexpected! As a teacher, I love reading books about teachers and this was a great one!
This story follows 2 women, Eve, a high school math teacher who works in the same school as her husband, and Addie, a high school student who is under scandal after rumors went around last year that she was having and inappropriate relationship with a teacher. When the teacher, and Eve's mentor, was forced into quitting, Eve developed a grudge. This story takes place the next school year when Eve find out Addie is in her class and her husband's class as well. Will Addie try to ruin her life next? Will she go after her husband.
In this book, no one is who they seem and as the story develops you learn more and more about each character and the lies they are keep hidden.
Totally a must read!

The queen of thrills is back following The Coworker with her latest dazzling wild standalone game of cat-and-mouse psychological thriller, THE TEACHER. If you are a fan of the author, like millions of others like myself, you drop everything when you see a Freida McFadden new book.

Holy Moly! She shocks, she surprises, she entertains.

With her wildly imaginative mind, she dazzles her fans again. You can expect deceit, revenge, secrets, unreliable narrators, and a roller coaster MIND-BENDING adventure.

The author grips you from the Prologue with the opening line: "Digging a grave is hard work." So we know we have a dead body, we assume, or why dig a grave?

Right? Maybe...

There is a lot of drama between students and teachers at the local high school. Meet math teacher Eve Bennett, age 30, married to older hunky hubby, and fellow teacher Nate Bennett. He has always fancied himself a poet. They teach at Caseham High School.

Eve knows she is out of her league with Nate, but she is younger ✔ and loves designer shoes, 👠especially Jimmy Choo stiletto pumps, Christian Louboutins, and Louis Vuitton. So she has good taste and loves high heels since she is only foot two. She is OBSESSED with shoes and stashes them away from her hubby's prying eyes. You must have some outlet with a hubby like Nate.

Plus, Eve likes the shoe salesman, Jay, at Simons's (wink, wink), if you know what I mean. 😉

Her hubby talks about filling the house with children, but she is unsure they will achieve that on their current intimacy schedule. Three kisses per day, sex once a month, and Nate is always the one who drives (the car that is).

Told from alternating tension-filled POVs: Eve (wife/teacher) and Addie (16-year-old student). Eve is concerned when she learns that Addie Severson, a student who allegedly had an affair with a math teacher, Art, who resigned the year earlier —is now in one of her classes.

Of course, Addie says nothing happened, but her classmates bully her, and the staff does not know who is telling the truth. Then the worst happens: Addie is also in Nate's class, and they bond over poetry. He even invites her to join Reflections, the poetry magazine meeting.

Eve has a terrible feeling about this girl. Let the games begin...

Addie also has a BIG problem. Kenzie Montgomery is the most popular and beautiful girl in their junior class. She is a bully, and no one ever stands up to Kenzie. She ruins Addie's everyday life.

Addie is excited her English teacher (Nate) loves Poe as much as she does. Addie is a troubled girl and the daughter of an abusive alcoholic who finally drank himself to death. Addie never accused Art of anything, but his reputation was ruined. She used to hang out with Hudson, but now he is one of the popular kids.

Things heat up. Demands are made. Fear, lies, secrets, and anxieties rise to the surface, gaslighting at its finest. Infatuations. Obsessions. Affairs. Addictions.

The author keeps you glued to the pages with the triangle tension of Addie, Nate, and Eve. Addie is trying to get over a scandal and bullying. Meanwhile, Eve has to deal with her marriage problems. TRUST NO ONE.

Freida's star power shines with each book and her signature style of fast-paced storytelling, dark humor, witty characters, short chapters, and the unexpected TWISTS and jaw drops! That final twist is Killer!

Holy Cannoli, THE TEACHER has it all! You will laugh out loud as you go back and forth with love/hate, waiting for the final ball drop and knife twist. I always love her Epilogues! Please do not take this one too seriously; it is FF and meant for fun and wow factors.

As always, THE TEACHER is highly entertaining, a standout, clever plot, and humor—blurring the lines between right and wrong. Another winner by the queen of thrills! Wickedly delicious.

I read the e-book and listened to the audiobook narrated by the fabulous Leslie Howard and Danny Montooth for a highly entertaining listening experience. You will laugh out loud. I always buy her audiobooks and adore Leslie!

Be sure to get some sleep before starting. You will not be able to put it down. I finished up at 5 am. I would love to see Eva in future books and check up on her shoes! I cannot wait for The Housemaid is Watching, coming June 11, 2024!

This is a fast paced ,loopy, cringey psychological thriller with an epilogue that pulls you into it's crazy hemisphere.

The cast of characters are highly unlikeable but I couldn't stop reading...kind of like the car accident you shouldn't look at yet you can't help yourself. The entire plot is a huge dumpster fire, which is a big part of what makes the story hard to put down.
The downside is that there are some huge pot holes in the story and truly unbelievable scenarios.
However, the surprises and twists are enough to make you gasp....and McFadden leaves the biggest jaw dropper for last!
A solid 3 1/2 star but rounding up to 4.

🫶🏻 ARC #13 of 2024
📚 18/100

I went back-and-forth on this book 🙈

I liked it. I didn’t like it. I liked it. I was annoyed by the FMC. The I was like okay. What. OMG.

And just like every other, @fmcfaddenauthor book.
In the end, I loved it!

Do you give an author credit for making such an annoying character, but then loving the book in the end? Solid four stars!!

I absolutely loved the ending. When I can guess what’s gonna happen, and the ending is what I predicted, I tend to rate it lower. BUT I didn’t see it coming and that’s always my freaking favorite. You always do it 🫠🫣🫢🤯

I have also never tagged narrators before. I feel like @lesliehowardnarrates and @dmontooth did a phenomenal job!!!

I will absolutely be buying this book to add to shelf! Thank you so much @netgalley @dreamscape_media and @fmcfaddenauthor for this phenomenal audio ARC!

Nathaniel, Nathaniel... do we all believe that you could only hide so much behind that Poe loving façade? Yes, we do. Your students love you, but it would be good for you to make sure your wife still loves you too. Otherwise, who could help you?

Eve, my dear... you are a teacher like your beloved husband. Maybe listen to both sides of the story. Maybe don't judge your students based on one thing one person said. You are a female too and it's men's world. everyone take their word over yours. Maybe don't trust them this much, huh?

And Freida, m'lady! You are walking all over us with your twists and turns. We are getting slapped left and right. I cannot get over that little name play you did at the end. This was the first book I read by you, but I'm hooked. Keep them coming in!

Freida McFadden has crafted another addictive, shocking, entertaining and twist filled book. I always know that I am in for a thrilling reading experience when I pick up one of her books. I listened to the audiobook version of The Teacher and thought the narration was fantastic.

Eve and her husband Nate are both teachers at a local high school. Addie is a student at the high school where Eve and Nate are employed. Last year she was involved in a scandal that rocked the school. This year, their paths will collide in this gripping book!

I loved the twists, turns, and reveals in this book. Oh, what a tangled web we weave! What a fabulous tale of obsession, secrets, lies and revenge! I enjoyed the character's POV's. They are not the most likeable bunch, which made this book even more entertaining.

Thank you to Dreamscape Select and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
