The Teacher
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Author: Freida McFadden
I requested an audio advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.
Synopsis: Lesson #1: Trust no one. Eve has a good life. She wakes up each day, kisses her husband Nate, and heads off to teach math at the local high school. All is as it should be. Except… Last year, Caseham High was rocked by a scandal involving a student-teacher affair, with one student, Addie, at its center. But Eve knows there is far more to these ugly rumors than meets the eye. Addie can’t be trusted. She lies. She hurts people. She destroys lives. At least, that’s what everyone says. But nobody knows the real Addie. Nobody knows the secrets that could destroy her. And Addie will do anything to keep it quiet…
My Thoughts: McFadden is one of my favorite thriller authors. I will read anything, anytime, every time blindly. I know that I will get a story full of twists that will keep me engaged from cover to cover with the unpredictability elevated, and even when I think all the twists have been revealed, boom we get another. Eve has a good life, she teaches at the high school and is married to a very charming man, who also teaches at the school. Last year, there was a scandal involving a student and a teacher, Addie was right in the middle of the action. Eve knows that Addie is not a person to get close to. What happens when the real Addie shows up? Will the secrets begin to spill over? What lengths will Addie go to in order to keep the secrets buried?
The story is narrated in a dual perspective by Eve and Addie. Eve teaches math and is obsessed with shoes, specifically Louboutin. Addie is a junior at the high school, who is being bullied due to an unfortunate incident the year before. The story opens up with some on digging a grave and I was like yes!! The characters were well developed with depth, mystery, intrigue, and were creatively curated. The author’s writing style was complex, suspenseful, twisty, and brilliant. The characters were built up through the chapters, the plot was delivered in many layers, and the ending was well executed and was just perfect for this storyline. As with most of McFadden’s novels, once I start, I have to go the long haul to the end in one sitting. While some things may be a bit far fetched, I still really enjoyed this novel.
Trigger warning: this story contains a child and teacher relationship that rises to the level of inappropriateness, even being a work of fiction, I know that this may be a trigger for some people. The narrators, Leslie Howard and Danny Montooth, do an amazing job. They have superb voice variation with character distinction. The pitch and flow worked well and I was able to listen at 2x with no issues keeping up. This was a gripping, addictive, captivating psychological thriller that kept me on my toes. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Oh this was good! I read this with my work book club. We chose this because we wanted a quick read-one that we knew would hooks us- so of course Frieda McFadden was thrown in as a contender. We work in education-a mix of teachers and support staff-so The Teacher was a no brainer! I can’t lie, because of our jobs, it gave major ick vibes but Freida McFadden knows how to hook you and her endings are always twist and twist. I really enjoyed this and highly recommend it if you are looking for a quick, entertaining read.

Thank you, NetGalley, for an audio-ARC of The Teacher by Frieda McFadden; narrated by Leslie Howard and Danny Montooth.
In true Frieda McFadden style, this book contains characters that reader loves to hate and plots that make you cringe. However, McFadden has a way of making you want to read on and keep coming back for more. The big twist at the end of this book was a bit too cringey for my taste, but overall it was a decent read.

I liked and didn't like this book. First off this is my first book by this author I have been hearing so much about.
This one starts out with a bang then falters a bit and then swings back at the end. This is another one where its hard to not give anything away. But know the 3 main characters are all very unlikable.
The narration by Leslie Howard and Danny Montooth was very well done.
I would read another book by this author.

I received this audiobook from the publisher Dreamscape Select, Hollywood Upstairs Press and NetGalley for a fair and honest review.

This was another great book by Freida McFadden. I started it on a Friday night and couldn't put it down until I finished it on Saturday. The many plot twists and turns kept coming through the epilogue. I am a little confused by the final twist, did she not know that he was a student at the school?

As a new freida fan I couldn't wait to dive into this audio and I loved every word.. An utterly brilliant book, yet another one of Freida's books that keeps you guessing tight till the end and then.... the twist!
The narrator,Leslie Howard was perfect at bringing the words alive. I couldn't stop listening and Leslie has a way of giving the characters depth and evokes all the emotions from the listener along the way. A great audio that won't let you down.

The only good thing I have to say about this book was that it was a quick read. The writing felt amateur. The plot was cringe. It MAYBE could have been redeemed if it wasn't for the epilogue that was so beyond unnecessary except for a cheap shock. It honestly didn't even make sense. As a friend said, I'm going to throw this book across the room when I finish and she wasn't wrong. I miss the old Freida.

This one had my attention right off the bat - nothing like digging a grave to start a story. I’m a teacher, so of COURSE I’ll love a McFadden book about a teacher.
Fast paced, well written, but this storyline was just not for me. I had hopes it wasn’t going to go where I thought it would, but oh it did and more. Yes, the age of consent was stated in the story, but I was just very uncomfortable. Looking back there wasn’t a whole lot in the story and the twist at the end just made it…. More uncomfortable.

McFadden always knows how to grab the readers attention and this one starts off with such a fun guessing game. A grave is being dug - who’s doing the digging? Who’s being buried?
This domestic suspense and psychological thriller is incredibly fast paced and so addictive, you can easily finish it in a sitting!
It’s just bursting with an abundance of drama-rama and it’s got such an intriguing love to hate ensemble! It’s a popcorn thriller with all of the entertaining secrets, lies, reveals and scandal. Parts may be super cringe and disturbing but I couldn’t look away! 😳
McFadden has made a name for herself as the queeeen of unexpected twists, and I promise you won’t see this epilogue coming 👀

The Teacher was my first audiobook from NetGalley! The Teacher by Frieda McFadden is a gripping mystery thriller that kept me engaged as I walked and listened from start to finish. Narrated brilliantly in the audiobook format, the story follows a series of chilling surprises. McFadden masterfully crafts a suspenseful plot filled with twists and turns that will leave readers guessing until the very end. The characters are well-developed and relatable, drawing listeners deeper into the narrative with each chapter. The audiobook narration enhances the overall experience, bringing the characters to life. Overall, The Teacher is a must-listen for fans of the mystery thriller genre. She kept me guessing until the end as always!

Well thought out and kept me reading throughout the entire book. Sometimes her's are hot or miss but I liked this one

This book was… interesting? Not the best book I’ve read by this author but also not the worst. I was a little thrown off by the ages. Not a fan of grooming.

Another great book by Freida McFadden. I was not expecting the crazy twists in the story. My mouth dropped a couple times while listening to the book. I really liked the narrators.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.

Thank you Netgalley and dreamscape select for the audiobook ARC in exchange of an honest review.
This is my first ever Freida McFadden book and she is definitely is quite good at writing mystery thriller. This book kept my attention from the very first page till the end. The ending was good, the last twist was not exactly shocking but nice twist to the whole ending. Just makes you think again about the characters in different light altogether.
I couldn't stop myself from remembering a book similar to the main theme in the book and it actually made me hate Nate more than I might have otherwise. I'm not saying out loud the name of the book as it will give away spoilers. And I'm avoiding those in my entire reviews.
Overall a good listen, fast paced and very engaging.
Audiobook rating- 4.5 stars
Book rating - 4 stars

I honestly had no idea where this was going. I was fully invested and loved the twists at the end.
I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.

She 🤯 my mind again with that ending! So entertaining with all the twists and turns you want with a thriller. I thought the audiobook was very well done and easy to follow along. The epilogue took it from 4.5 to 5 stars. 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻

*Please check trigger warnings before reading/listening - There are some heavy themes throughout The Teacher*
The Teacher by Frieda McFadden is a quick, tense story. Duel POV and the narrators bring Eve, Nate, & Addie’s characters to life. I stayed on the edge of my seat until the very last moment. Excellent book and audiobook!

Two married teachers, two different personalities and one naive student. Love, affair, manipulation and sex mixed together get a murder, revange and passion. Love will make overlook things that are right in front of you.

Freida, aka Master of Plot Twists, has done it again! With a cringe-worthy story line, and some very unlikeable characters, this audiobook didn't take me long to listen to at all! It has short chapters, is fast paced and packed full of suspense, everything I love.
The narrators, Leslie Howard and Danny Montooth, really brought the characters to life too! Such a fun read. And that ending!!
Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Select for an ARC of this audiobook.

I really enjoy Freida McFadden’s books but lately all of her new stuff is not hitting home for me. The heavy topics of mental health and sexual predators can go sideways very fast even in a fiction book. In this case, I was truly grossed out by the behaviors in this book. None of the characters were likable, there was zero character development either. I could’ve almost given benefit of the doubt to Eve, until the epilogue came. I was just so disappointed with this one.
