The description of the book is a little misleading. Addie isn’t the criminal mastermind it makes her out to be. The story starts out very slow and sexual predators aren’t something I like to read about. The characters are unlikeable but they’re supposed to be. The twist wasn’t as thrilling as I would have hoped but I think because of the direction the story took, I wasn’t going to be invested in the ending. This book may appeal to others but the subject matter just wasn’t for me.

Addie has so many lies and rumors going around school about her. She has lost her best friend. She is being bullied by several girls. She is miserable. That is, until her English class. This is the best part of her day!

Well, Freida McFadden has done it again! This book is unstoppable! I love a story that keeps me guessing. All these characters are bad in their own unique way!

Addie, the young lady in this story, has some major issues..and I don’t want to give anything away…let’s just say, she is not who she seems. Then there is her math teacher, Eve. Eve is married to Addie’s English teacher, Nate. These three are intertwined in an intriguing way. And I am not going to tell you how, it will spoil it for you. But honestly, you don’t know where this story is going or who is the worse villain. You will need to read this to find out!

Y’all know I love a production when it comes to audiobooks. The narrators, Leslie Howard and Danny Montooth are a perfect tag team! This could not have been any better!

Need a unique, twisty tale…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today!

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

📚 Review: The Teacher 👨🏻‍🏫 🍎
Happy Pub Day to my girl’s new book!!
I was fortunate enough to get an advanced audiobook copy from @netgalley. I’m a teacher myself, so I was so excited to start this one. I actually put my current listen, at the time, on hold so I could start this one right away. And I’m happy to say my physical copy is coming in the mail today. (Did not arrive in time for this picture 😑) Anyway, all I have to say is Freida does it again. At this point I don’t think she can write a book that I wouldn’t love. Her books are always so fast paced and addictive and shocking. Once you start, you just can’t stop and you don’t want to either. And this book is no exception.
I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to give anything away. But, tons of trouble ensues after a teacher has an affair with their student. All kinds of secrets and lies are exposed and no one seems to be innocent or to be trusted. In true Freida fashion, there are twists that shock you and you never see coming. 😳
I really enjoyed this one. It’s ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨/5 stars for me!! Thank you to @netgalley for this advanced ALC in exchange for an honest review.
Pub Date:: Today!! So get your copy now!! You don’t want to miss this one.

Have you read this one yet? What were your thoughts?

Happy pub day to this absolute WILD RIDE! I binged this almost entirely in one day (as you do with her books) and cannot recommend it enough.

Freida McFadden - your mind is a wild place and I absolutely love it. I think this is one of the best endings to a psychological thriller I’ve read since The Housemaid 😂 as per usual, she drops a twist at the very end that was so on brand I couldn’t stop laughing.

If you’re looking for something good and riddled with morally gray characters but also ridiculous? This is it. I promise it will keep you entertained. When you think you know what’s happening, you probably don’t 😈
The audiobook was very well done and had two excellent narrators that brought it all to life. Voicing a teenager as an adult is not easy but Leslie Howard NAILED it. Quick, easy listen from start to finish. 10/10 recommend.

Thank you @netgalley and @freidamcfadden for allowing me to be an early listener in exchange for my honest review.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Freida has left me with my jaw on the floor once again! This was by far her best written book. The characters, the twists, the turns, the plot, the ending!! I cannot get enough!! Freida, you are a genius and a mastermind!

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select, Mandy Chahal and the queen herself, Freida McFadden, for allowing me an advanced copy of this book!

THE TEACHER review
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

🍎Happy pub day to THE TEACHER! This is my third book by Freida McFadden and I think I finally have a good idea of what to expect from her stories: a bingeable, popcorn thriller with crazy twists and maybe a couple of plot holes. They’re not knock my socks off amazing, but I always have a fun time reading them!

🍎Here’s a summary of the plot:👇
Eve and Nate are both teachers at the local high school. Their marriage has become very routine, and Eve feels like they’ve lost their spark. She’s horrified to find out that a student (Addie) who was involved in a scandal with another teacher last year is enrolled in her husband’s class. Addie has a lot of secrets, but she isn’t the only one…

🍎I felt like it took a while for this one to truly feel like a thriller?? Once the suspense and the twists hit I couldn’t put it down! I binged this one in a single day! I’m truly shook by the ending?! Omg 🤯 Overall, I’d recommend this one if you’ve enjoyed Freida’s past work and if you want a quick, bingeable thriller!

🍎Thanks @macmillan.audio for my advanced copy of this one!

This was another excellent psychological thriller by queen Freida. I love all the twists she can toss in. This one includes an unhappily married couple, a “problem” student, and lots of secrets. If you like psychological thrillers and haven’t read any by Freida—RUN! You’ll be hooked!

The Teacher unfolds through various perspectives, maintaining a brisk pace and weaving a captivating plot. The prologue immediately immerses readers, setting the stage for an exhilarating rollercoaster of unexpected twists that keep you on the edge of your seat. Just when I thought I had the story figured out, I was proven wrong! The narrative moves at such a rapid pace that you'll find yourself rapidly flipping through the pages. While some might argue the plot's unrealistic nature, its undeniable enjoyment and entertainment value make it a worthwhile read. A true page-turner, the epilogue delivers a jaw-dropping twist that left me speechless.

The story revolves around the main characters, Eve and Nate, a teacher couple, and Addie, a troublesome student at their school. I couldn't help but harbor a dislike for each character – a sentiment that added an intriguing layer to the narrative. The characters, with their questionable motives and credibility, make it challenging to discern who is telling the truth and who is lying. Yet, this uncertainty only fueled my intrigue.

Anything written by Freida is a must-read for me, and this one was no exception.

Well, the queen of twists hits it out of the park again!

Thanks NetGalley & Dreamscape Select, Hollywood Upstairs Press for the ALC!

The narrators Leslie Howard & Danny Monmouth have done a fantastic job in making this audiobook a riveting experience! I thought their voices were perfect for the characters.

Brief synopsis -

Eve is a math teacher at Caseham high school, where her husband Nate, also teaches English. She is disconcerted to find the notorious Addie in her class, who is known to be troublesome, untrustworthy and a liar. Both Eve and Addie have secrets of their own that nobody needs to find out.

Review -

Alternating between Eve and Addie’s POV, the plot sucks us right into it. Freida knows just how to create intrigue and nail biting curiosity around the story she expertly weaves around her characters.

Setting her thrillers in various organizations such as a workplace/office (#TheCoworker) and now in a high school with #TheTeacher, McFadden seems to have done a lot of research to understand the inner workings of these places, the dynamics and all the elements at play in these institutions and she cleverly employs them all in her plot construction.

By mid-way there is enough tension about what next and how things would unfold, that you are sure to be bitten with the ‘just one more chapter’ bug, as you end up finishing the book even before you know.

Be ready for all the mean girl conspiracies, wicked manipulations, juicy revenge tactics, cruel mind games, unbelievable twists and turns that are sure to come your way towards the end!

That said, you would really derive the whole satisfaction only if you are willing to suspend your disbelief to some extent. This is the case with so many thrillers right?

So if you are a thriller fan, I would highly recommend you run towards the newest by Freida!

A high school teacher is married to another high school teacher. The husband, Nate, is adored by his students and the wife, Eve, is generally disliked. Eve has a good life, except for her husband not wanting anything to do with her to the point they schedule their mandatory romantic encounters only once a month. The other problem she has, is a girl named Addie is a student in her math class. Addie is trouble. It was only last year where she was accused of having an affair with another teacher, and got him fired. Eve is certain Addie could be coming after her husband yet & will not let that happen.

Meanwhile Addie swears what happened between her & the teacher from last year was innocent. They never had an affair. Nate, her English teacher, decided Addie is a fantastic poet and gives her a little extra attention to get her to refine her poetry skills. Addie loves being treated so kindly since after the scandal, everyone seems to judge her & be mean. There's even a popular girl who seems to pick on her more than she should. Addie really can't stand the mean girl and if she had her way, she would end her.

I don't want to give the story away so I will stop there. The second half of the book is definitely more exciting than the first. I'm going to be in the minority here, but I didn't really like this one at all. I didn't like any of the characters. I didn't like the plot. I didn't like the twist in the epilogue. The female narrator annoyed me on this one, although I absolutely loved the male narrator. He is why I bumped it to 3 stars. He did very well and his voice was pleasant to listen to. I love Freida, but this just was not for me.

As always, I will continue to pick up everything Freida writes. This book does not change my admiration for this author. I would recommend you check it out for yourself.

** I did receive an ARC of the audio book in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you to #Netgalley & the publishers.

When Freida McFadden releases a new book, you do anything you can to get your hands on an early copy.

If you're anything like me, and I am sure you are, you also hang on McFadden's every word.

After binge reading The Housemaid and The Housemaid's Secret, multiple times anticipating the release of The Teacher, it was FINALLY mine.

Mine, all mine...

I think McFadden might just break the internet with this one.

I have read and obsessed over every last one of her books, each time a new one releases, I swear its my favorite but I am absolutely, positively sure this time that The Teacher, is definitely my favorite (for now) .

Check out this teaser :

Eve has a good life. She wakes up each day, kisses her husband Nate, and heads off to teach math at the local high school. All is as it should be. Except…

Last year, Caseham High was rocked by a scandal involving a student-teacher affair, with one student, Addie, at its center. But Eve knows there is far more to these ugly rumors than meets the eye.

Addie can’t be trusted. She lies. She hurts people. She destroys lives. At least, that’s what everyone says.

But nobody knows the real Addie. Nobody knows the secrets that could destroy her. And Addie will do anything to keep it quiet…

From the New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden comes a chilling story of twisted secrets and long-awaited revenge.

Freida is back with another typical Freida punch. This one was twisty and had me hooked until the end. I'd probably put this one up high on my list for Freida books.

The narrators did a great job too. It kept me feeling involved and I may have binge listened to it in a day.

Buckle up for a fun ride!
I ate this one up. I just couldn’t wait to see where the story was going. Definitely a dark page-turner. The Teacher was so messed up in such a fun way. When you’re in the mood for a great escape, you can always count on Freida. Her plots can be pretty far fetched and things wrap up a little too nicely, but as far as brain candy goes, this one was a blast. Short chapters and multiple points of view along with some twists (of course) keep the pages turning quickly. Don’t take this one too seriously, just have some fun with it.

A new book from Freida McFadden is a drop everything, pause your life moment.

A married couple who both teach at Caseham High. Eve teaches Math and has a passion for designer shoes. Nate teaches English, loves Edgar Allen Poe and poetry.

Addie is a student, last year she was involved in a scandal involving a teacher, this year both Eve and Nate will have her in their classes.

Freida is the Queen of fast, easy flowing twist-after-twist-after-twist style thriller. The Teacher is the absolute pinnacle of this style, a cover-to-cover nonstop thrill ride.

You know Freida’s style, but this book has darker themes, you might not expect, sexy, sultry even sleazy but Freida pulls it off perfectly, her writing and characters only enhanced by the excellent narration by Leslie Howard and Danny Monmouth.

Brilliant voice acting brings the characters to life, prepare to be manipulated with some of the most villainous villainy yet, plus some morally grey areas and evil intentions.

If you are the kind of reader who doesn’t get why Freida’s books fill the bestseller lists then this won’t the one to change your mind, everyone else is going to love it.

This might be Freida’s best yet, simply a state of the art thriller.

Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Select

The Teacher is a fast paced thriller that will make you want to keep reading more and more. It also has such a powerful message about the vulnerability of teenagers. What I really enjoyed about the book is that each chapter had me hooked and I wanted to keep reading. I honestly didn’t like most of the characters but to be honest, Eve and Addie grew on me by the end!
As always, the twists and turns and shocking reveals were there as they always are with Freida’s books! I was given the opportunity by Netgalley to review the advanced reader copy and I was also given the opportunity to listen to the advanced audiobook and I will say that the narrators did an incredible job and made the story very enjoyable. The quality of the audiobook is really great. Thank you Netgalley, Dreamscape Select, Hollywood Upstairs Press for sending this audiobook for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Audiobook Review:

The Teacher by Freida McFadden
My rating:
4/5
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nathaniel and Eve, husband and wife, are both high school teachers. They are going through a bit of a rough patch in their marriage and it only gets worse when Addy, a student at the high school starts to develop a crush on Nathaniel.

Freida McFadden always delivers a book that is fast paced and entertaining. I find myself always wanting to finish her books super quickly because I need to see what twists will be at the end!

I will say while she usually stumps me, I figured out the twists in this one pretty easily. I am not sure if it is because I recently read one of her books, but the twists didn’t shock me in this one compared to others.

There was a couple things that I didn’t expect, so the ending was still satisfying but I found the story to be pretty straight forward so I didn’t give it a 5 for that reason. I also felt like the ending was quite abrupt and left me wanting a little bit more.

The audiobook kept me engaged and I really liked the two narrators. This was told in the perspective of Addy and Eve, so you can hear how the story plays out on both sides.

I would definitely recommend this one for a fun, quick thriller.

Thank you netgalley and Dreamscape for the ARC! This will be published Feb 6th, so you won’t have to wait long to read it!!!

This was a twisty roller coaster of a ride that had me hooked from page one. Just when I thought had the whole thing figured out, Freida McFadden expertly turns the whole thing on its head!

Another AMAZING Freida McFadden book. As usual with their books, I am always trying to outsmart them because I can never guess the twists in their books. Ever.

And of course this was no exception.

This book follows Eve, Nate, and Addy. Eve and Nate are married and Addy is a troubled student who has been having issues in her life for the last year. The three of them find themselves involved in a crazy situation and Freida takes us along for their journey!

The narrators in this book were fantastic - I was glad that we got to see POV at times from all three of the characters so that we could truly understand what was going on in their minds.

Can't wait to see what Freida puts out next.

Thank you to Dreamscape and NetGalley for an advanced listeners copy of this book!
