Thanks NetGalley for an advanced copy of the audiobook of The Teacher!

I’ve read most of Freida McFadden’s work because I always find her books to be quick, engaging, and full of great and unexpected twists.

The Teacher was no exception. For the first part of the book, I was a little disappointed because I thought the story followed a very safe formula, and while the main characters were married teachers, I felt the story spoke more to a domestic suspense trope. However, as the story progressed and more and more twists occurred, I was definitely invested to find out how the story would play out. And that FINAL twist - literally had me saying “WHAT” out loud.

In the end, the title absolutely made sense and the overall plot developed beyond that initial “safe zone”. All in all, another twisty and entertaining book from Freida McFadden!

I think I read a different book than everyone else. This was so unbelievable and not realistic in the slightest. I read a few of her backlist and I thought I’d give her one last chance. It was over the top and none of the characters were likeable. This book just gave me icky vibes.

The narrator was awful. It sounded so fake. I would have rated it higher probably if I read it instead of listened to it.

Freida McFadden delivers yet another tale filled with addictive twists and an overall entertaining experience in "The Teacher." As a seasoned reader of McFadden's work, I'm always prepared for a thrilling ride, and this book did not disappoint.

Narrated flawlessly in the audiobook version, the story revolves around Eve and Nate, a married couple who are both teachers at a local high school. Addie, a student at the same school, is entangled in a scandal that sent shockwaves through the community the previous year.

The lure of "The Teacher" lies in its web of secrets, lies, and revenge. McFadden skillfully weaves a tangled narrative that keeps readers hooked from start to finish. The twists and turns are enticing, unveiling a story that explores the depths of obsession and the consequences of hidden truths.

The choice to present the story from multiple character perspectives adds a layer of welcome complexity. While the characters may not be the most likable, their flaws contribute to the book's overall entertainment value. It's a tale that skillfully blurs the lines between right and wrong, leaving readers questioning the motives and actions of each character.

I particularly enjoyed the immersive experience of the audiobook, with the narration enhancing the suspenseful atmosphere created by McFadden's writing.

A special thanks to Dreamscape Select, Hollywood Upstairs Press, and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of "The Teacher" in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

If you're seeking a thrilling read that unravels the complexities of human behavioru, "The Teacher" is a must-add to your reading list.

Thank you netgalley for the audio version of this book for free in exchange of my review!
This is my first ever Freida McFadden book so I had some high expectations for the twists in the book. From the first chapter I was invested in finding out what happened and this book was HARD to put down!! Some of the twists at the end didn’t make much sense at the end and not at all what I expected but I was still very entertained throughout and would definitely recommend if you live thrillers but check triggers because there are teacher student relationships.

I want to start by saying I usually enjoy Freida McFadden’s books. The Teacher just had themes I have issues with. This book was not for me but hopefully other readers. The audio narration was great.

I appreciate the review copy for this audiobook! I am fairly new to the Freida McFadden world, having just gotten this audiobook and the House Maid to read, so I am commenting without any prior connection to this author's work.

This was a very difficult story to listen to. As an educator I was wildly uncomfortable with a lot of the plot, the grooming, the lack of any realistic support for very public bullying, and the lack of any single likable character. Credit to the voice actors who really made this world live and immersive with their narration, the narration of the slick male teacher was so spot on that my skin crawled. If this is how high school is for students today I am truly sad for those so overlooked and hurt and used, so lonely and filled with hurt and anger.

So loved the talents of the narrators, tremendously disliked the book itself. Somewhere in here I must give a star rating so please voice actors, know your talents came through and this was just a book that was cringey uncomfortable to me and with twists that I saw coming or that just didn't seem to honor the book, characters, or the reader. 3 stars because the voice acting should be acknowledged for it's strengths.

Freida McFadden does it again with The Teacher. The following facts are true, Eve and Nate Bennett are married. They are both teachers at Caseham Highschool. And they both have Addie in their class. Between dealing with a school scandal and hiding their rocky marriage, Eve becomes increasingly skeptical of Addie and how she is linked to almost all aspects of her life.

This was a jaw-dropping thriller, to the point that I was cutting my husbands hair and I had to stop while listening to the Epilogue so I didn’t buzz his entire head when the multiple twists were revealed. I loved the multiple point-of-views and the fast-paced nature kept me thoroughly engaged. That said, I think there were a few plot holes and questions left unanswered. Also, Eve’s shoe obsession seemed a bit random to me but overall it was an incorporated well throughout the story. In terms of the audio aspect of this book, I wish Nate was a different narrator throughout the entire book not just in the last part. When the narrator changed, the impact of his words felt more intense to me. Other than that, I thought it was very well done and it was a great audiobook experience!

A big thank you to Freida McFadden, Dreamscape Select and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. Be sure to check out The Teacher which publishes February 6, 2024!!

It's "Darkness there, and nothing more" for one of these protagonists! I love books with unreliable narrators, morally gray characters and a scandalous love interest. This book definitely lives up to that hype and more. I fully admit that Freida's books can be hit or miss for me but this one was definitely a hit. This book has more twists than a soft serve.

Wonderfully done mystery thriller that will keep you cringing and guessing right to the very end. 4.5 stars

Many thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select, Hollywood Upstairs Press and Freida McFadden for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.

This psychological thriller had lots of promise, but was just icky all around to me. Student/teacher relationships are just gross and I knew that he had definitely had a relationship with another student with it being so easy for him to get with Addie. Addie was a troubled girl and he took advantage of that. The fact that no teacher stood up for Addie with the ridiculous bullying she was experiencing was ridiculous. The twist at the end was definitely not expected, but also weird how it wasn't teased early. Overall, it was a good listen, just not my favorite Freida McFadden book.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a Freida book, and i was super glad i was approved for this audio.
A couple (who are teachers) have a seemingly normal life (Eve and Nate) you quickly find out their relationship isn’t eveything you think it is. A new school year, and a girl named Addie who doesn’t have a great reputation for some stuff that happened with a teacher last year. Crushes become obsessions and secrets and all the things.
This is a dual POV from Eve the female teacher , and Addie, then later on turns into a triple POV when Nate joins the party. I’ll admit i wasn’t quite sure where this book was headed, but then things take a turn and head downhill really quickly. And in true Freida fashion you think you’ve figured everything out and she drops a bomb on you by the end. I’m definitely giving it a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 stars for really keeping me on my toes. I couldn’t give it a 5 because there’s always a weird Ick factor for me when it’s a teacher student relationship (especially when you have kids not far from the age of the girl in the book 😆) but honestly i really enjoyed this one a lot. Thank you @netgalley for approving me for this arc in exchange for my honest review !

Rating: 4.5/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

This story starts out with someone burying a dead body - do I have your attention?? The Teacher is a wild ride of obsession, jealousy, secrets and lies. The Teacher is a told in a dual POV through Eve and Addie. It’s jam packed full of drama and these characters are easy to hate.

This is a fast paced, suspenseful and addicting read that will have you flying through the pages. I finished this one in one sitting because I was so baffled and just really had to know what the hell was going on in these characters heads. There are a ton of twists in this book, some you will see coming and some you will not. McFadden knows how to take an already twisty ending and at the last second go “hold my beer” and just completely blow your mind in the last second. These endings will never get old for me.

There are some trigger warnings for this one, and not even going to lie, some super cringy parts. I dont want to say what in fear of spoiling the story, so if you must know please dont hesitate to ask me.

I listened to this one and the narrators Leslie Howard and Danny Montooth were phenomenal. I was completely entranced with how they told this story and I am highly recommending the audio.

Freida has done it again with The Teacher!!!! This is so good! The audiobook is well done. I couldn’t stop listening until I was done. I love it so much I want to read it with my eyes too! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The highly anticipated unputdownable psychological thriller audiobook was indeed impossible to put down! I listened to the audiobook version narrated by Leslie Howard and Danny Montooth. They both did an excellent job bringing the characters to life. Leslie Howard voiced 4 Freida McFadden titles to date; The Inmate, Ward D,Never Lie. And The Teacher. I love when Authors use the same narrator.
This twisted tale has lots of surprises, twists and whaaaaat! moments. Husband and wife Nate and Eve are a loving couple working at the local High School. Or are they? Nate is a poet teaching English. Eve has an addiction to shoes and teaches Math. The unlikely paired couple have dark secrets at their favorite spots. Nate at school in the dark room and Eve in the storeroom at the shoe store.
Enter the high school outcast Addie. Once Nate and Eve get entwined with Addie’s life theirs will forever be changed.
Freida McFaddens “McFans” will love this book and turn some of us into fans too. This was my first Freida book. I will be adding more to my TBR pile.

Loved this one! I listened to the audiobook and the narrators were wonderful- different voices for characters, portrayed ALL the emotions, could not have been better! Somehow I’ve missed reading any of Frieda McFadden’s books up until now. She’s an author that I’ve heard great things about but just hadn’t gotten around to reading. Oh my goodness, have I been missing out!! I loved this one—twist after twist. I will be adding all of her books to the front of my TBR list! Also, make sure to listen to the acknowledgements at the end, very cute.

Thank you Freida McFadden, Dreamscape Select, and NetGalley for the audio copy of The Teacher.

I didn’t read the blurb on this one because, well, let’s face it, it’s Freida and I’m gonna read it no matter what. This one was no different than her other ones for me in the fact that I couldn’t put it down and absolutely loved it! I loved and disliked most of the characters throughout this one but it was such a good read and I did not figure out the twists!

The Teacher by Frieda McFadden

First of all, I want to send a huge thank you to @Netgalley for granting me access to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. Frieda McFadden has quickly become one of my favourite authors and I was beyond excited when I was given the opportunity to read this one in advance.

Frieda McFadden never seems to fail at delivering a fast paced thriller with unexpected twists. While I felt a lot of the story was predictable, I was hit with an unexpected turn once again. Similar to a previous book by this author, where she references turtles a lot (if you have read it, you know what book I mean), this one references shoes a lot. I cannot say that I enjoy the repetitiveness, but it gives insight into the the character. This was not one of my favourite books by this author, but she will continue to be an auto-buy author for me.

3.5/5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.5

Freida McFadden does it again! She is truly the queen of twists at this point, and this book was no exception. "The Teacher" is a psychological thriller that you won't be able to put down, with cliffhangers at the end of every chapter. The premise is a lot darker than Freida's other books, which I actually felt like made some of the twists less far fetched.

The story is centered around 3 main characters- Eve, Nate, and Addie. Eve and Nate Bennett are a couple who teach at a high school in a loveless marriage. Addie is a loner student at the school who is bullied by her classmates after they blame her for a teacher being fired due to speculation surrounding an inappropriate relationship. But Addie has a lot more secrets than that... & so do the Bennett's....

Personally, I am obsessed with any form of literature that ties in Edgar Allan Poe and specifically The Raven, so this was a big fit for me.

This book had the most jaw dropping twist in the epilogue. I was truly too stunned to speak given everything else I had known throughout the entirety of the story.....

A twisty psychological thriller with a stomach-churning student/teacher relationship, teen obsession, school bullying, dysfunctional marriage, alcoholic father, death of parent, infidelity, and other discomforts. This was an icky story that bothered me throughout. I was listening when I was alone in the office at work and a couple times my coworker walked in and could hear Addie's ramblings through the speaker. He finally asked what the heck I was listening to and I said, "weird husband and wife teachers, husband is grooming a teenage student, wife is extra mean to her, she's getting tormented by another teen, and has no friends." He laughed at me. I admitted I was ashamed to be listening to this audiobook. There was a good twist at the end but I didn't find any of the rest entertaining. I'm sure readers who enjoy edgy. boundary-pushing stories and unlikable characters who exhibit a total lack of morals will be excited by this. Not my thing but I did finish it and wanted to know how it wrapped up.
