This was a fun read with a serious
but well known, core of how older women are suddenly past their prime in the jobs market, but not men. So far, so good and although I imagine it wouldn't have the same appeal, maybe one of them could have had a more ordinary job and lifestyle? For me it was also overlong, sadly this reader can tire of too many puns and one liners.

It took me a little while to get through this book as it just didn't completely hook me in. It wasn't a bad book, and the way the women got their revenge was creative and amusing. There were a lot of one-liners and puns which felt really forced at times.
Overall, it was OK, but I'm not sure it entices me to read more from the author.

This one didnt do it for me. I thought i would love this book. The premise is great but the characters just didnt do it for me and it was a hard finish.

My first encounter with Kathy Lette was Husband Replacement Therapy which I adored so much I immediately grabbed this when I saw it.
This for me didn’t have quite the sharp wit and didn’t have the same level of humour that I was expecting. I was left a bit lacking and I found the characters not quite as fulfilling and likeable.

Ok I need a laugh so I thought I’d give this a try and there were a few smiles but after getting through about 20% I was overwhelmed by the silly puns, similes and just too many descriptions and throw away lines. Ugh she even has the Australian character say ‘crikey’! It was just so mainstream, upper middle class feminism boring level crap. It seemed really really dated. If all you care about is whether some already rich women get to work beyond middle age, why should I care? There’s so much more that could be said but this is all surface. I can’t even bothered finding out whether they get to enact revenge on the men doing them wrong, ‘I don’t give a shit lit’ indeed!

This is a typical Kathy Lette book - very quick and witty. I think for me though, it's too fast. The puns are meant to be quick and that’s the way the story naturally reads, but I found myself having to re-read a lot to make sense. People who can keep up with her will love this book. Thinking back on the story at my own pace now, I did like how the ladies got revenge and became partners in crime. Thank you to NetGalley for letting me read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

I was not keen on this book , not enough action for me and the jovial writing style quickly became irritating to read. Yes women have sometimes been dealt a raw deal, I have no problem with dealing with them dealing with that and also dealing with them being overlooked professionally but the book is overlong for me . Sorry this one was not for me

This was an enjoyable slice of chick-lit. I did think that all of the one-liners piled up one after another were a little over the top. Overall, a solid read for those who like a little feminism with their revenge.

I wasn't fully sure what to expect from this book and I did enjoy parts of it but overall it wasn't the book for me, I as though I was being lectured to about the main point which was women being pushed around and being treated as second class citizens which as a woman I am well aware of these things and it did take away from my overall enjoyment of the book.
I read for fun and escapism as a lot of readers do and this made me fell like trying to debate someone who won't listen to or try to understand my point of view even if it were the same

What happens when four old friends meet up after many years apart? General pats on the back as they are all successful in their lives. However, all this changes due to some middle aged misogynsts. So, they plan to stick together to take on these men and get revenge. A little of The First Wives Club with a modern twist and Kathy Lette's dry wit sprinkled throughout.

As a fan of Kathy Lette’s writing and sense of humour, I was keen to read this book. The premise of the story piqued my interest: a group of women of a certain age suddenly finding the tables turning on them in a male dominated, sexist world of high flying careers. I enjoyed the plotting of the different revenge plans and how they finally came together at the end, however at times the story felt a bit long winded and almost repetitive and could have been more tightly structured and paced for me. Did I chuckle though? Yes I did, many a time, both at the female characters, who in themselves are pretty much the caricatures of the women they’re supposed to be representing, and at the storyline. Kathy’s trademark humour is certainly plentiful throughout!

Unfortunately I didn’t quite gel with this one however it’s definitely a me thing! I’m definitely not the target audience and maybe at another time I’d have enjoyed it more however I just found the humour a bit off and didn’t connect to the characters. That being said I’m sure many people will find themselves within these pages and enjoy it!

As a woman of a "certain age" I loved this book ! I laughed out loud, enjoyed the "revenge" factor and cheered for all the characters.. This is a fun read that all women can relate to but especially those of us over 50. The premisis is three talented educated successful women are dismissed from their respective careers simply for their age. They all vow revenge on this mysognistic practice and the fun begins. I love the fourth character that joins them from their University days and her bravado in seeking revenge as she also was dismissed from her career by ageist men. The characters are rich and relatable. They are smart savvy women on a mission and this reader loved every page.

This book is a joy to read and the author reflects so well the truth of todays society for older women. I feel she wrote this for all of us that are treated with agism by mysognist ideals and left behind for younger generations. Well done to the author ! I hope this will be turned into a series as I would love to read more of "The Revenge Club". This would be a wonderful book to movie.

The Revenge Club does so many things right, but sadly missed the mark for me on a few too many things too. It appealed to me as some light-hearted chick-lit, with a bit of feminism and fun revenge thrown into the mix, but it all just felt a bit too light, and everything was conveniently wrapped up at the end in a way that we know life does not tend to do.

Matilda, Jo, Penny and Cressy are all women at the top of their game; so imagine their surprise when they start to be personally overlooked and professionally pushed aside by less-qualified men. Only they're not going down without a fight. Society might think the women have passed their amuse-by dates but the Revenge Club have other plans. After all, why go to bed angry when you could stay up and plot diabolical retribution?

The main character, Matilda, actually greatly annoyed me, with her personality being centered around her bad humour and self-deprecating digs. It was all a bit too much (without actually being much at all): the puns, the down-with-men-woe-is-me, the unrealistic premise, and the focus on injustice rather than combining getting even with getting better. It was draining, and reading became a bit choresome.

Ultimately I did enjoy when the revenge played out, because justice is always satisfying, but in all I couldn't recommend this one - even as a bit of don’t give a shit-lit (Lette's own phrasing!)

Well that was a fun read. Men watch out, revenge is so satisfying! Enjoyable, emotional and entertaining.
This book tell’s a wonderful story of friendship and how men underestimate the absolute power and glory of women.

A story about the women who have reached a certain age and are then discarded by a misogynistic society for being unfu*kable, hormonal and generally too old.
It is also the story of four women who decide to fight back against the men who have taken their youth, jobs and self respect.
Being a woman of a certain age I could relate to this book, at times it was a little over egged, but generally I enjoyed it. Laugh out loud funny at times, other times there were too many cheap shots.

Kathy aptly named her very own favourite genre ‚I-dont-give-a-shit-lit‘ and uses the mature heroines of their rather misandrous Revenge Club to sing the praises of lifelong female friendship, loyalty and sisterhood, at the risk of sometimes verging on pun-derous pun-tificating. Highly recommended!
