Great summer romance! Carley is an author I'm always curious to see what she puts out. The chemistry between Lucy and Felix was really fun and this gave me all the summer vibes. A great one to bring on holiday.

I've loved the previous book by Carley Fortune that I read, so I had rather high hopes going in here. They weren't fully met, but they also weren't fully disappointed.

I loved reading about the breezy, warm summer days of Prince Edward Island as I sat in the cold grey of November. Carley really painted a fantastic image of PEI, with all the sights, sounds, and smells of the ocean and of the small town.

I liked the friendship between Lucy and Bridget. It was clear right from the off these were each other's ride or die friend, and it was also so interesting to read about the changes in their relationship as they entered different life stages. However, I did find the secret keeping to be rather irritating, and the reason behind Bridget's secrecy eventually turned out to be an anti=climax.

The romance between Lucy and Wolf/Felix took me a while to warm to, as initially it seemed rather insta-love and that there wasn't much to it than a sexual attraction. As we discover their friendship deepen, I got more onboard.

Be still my beating heart.

This book is a bittersweet, beautifully written story about love, loss, and the fleeting magic of summers that change everything. Set against the backdrop of a charming seaside town, it depicts the essence of youthful nostalgia while offering a touching reflection on how we grow and evolve.

Lucy is wonderfully relatable, navigating the complexities of relationships, self-discovery, and the weight of unfulfilled dreams. Carley’s writing is evocative, painting vivid pictures of sunsets, salty breezes, and the quiet moments that define a summer’s transformative power.

The romance at the heart of the story is tender and complicated, filled with the kind of push-and-pull that keeps you turning pages late into the night. But what truly stands out is the book’s exploration of friendship and personal growth, making it so much more than just a love story.

Carley’s ability to balance light-hearted moments with emotional depth is remarkable. This book is a testament to her talent for creating stories that feel both deeply personal and universally resonant. It’s the perfect read for anyone who loves stories about finding yourself, and love, against the backdrop of endless summer days.

I fell in love with it, and I hope you do too.

A holiday romance combined with fierce friendship, and a will they won’t they theme told across the years….an easy summer read. Lucy and Bridget are two best friends, they have an enviable friendship….Lucy accidentally hooks up with the forbidden fruit….her best friends brother…..an easy read!

I would love to see Carly Fortune try a different formula - its always alternating timeline with present day and flash backs! ( Her next release ALSO has this - but because it is Charlies book I may forgive it)
Every Summer After is still Carlys best book. but this is a step up from Meet me at the Lake. She does do setting, locations and descriptions well but the story was repetitive and I didn't love any of the characters. Felix was a bit too cliche and perfect. I still do think people will enjoy this and I will check out her next book.
Thank you to NetGalley & publisher for this ARC.

Another Carley Fortune book read! No one writes vacation books better than Carley. The atmoshpere and vibe in each of them always evokes a longing to travel, to explore new places, to have free time and relax.

“This summer will be different” is the perfect vacation read, and reading it on the beach, or in a vacation setting in general, was a very pleasant experience. This book now jumps onto the second place of my favorite Carley books.

The gorgeous setting with Prince Edward Island in the background, the Canadian climate, the seaside setting... magic!✨
This book had everything I like: a wonderful theme of friendship, very well-presented characters, a strong and feminine main character, who, in addition, is the owner of a wonderful flower shop. The plot of this book takes place over several years-we have two timelines: past and present. I liked how the feeling between the characters developed over the years, and what stages their relationship went through.

I liked the fact that we could see vulnerable Felix and Lucy, who couldn't quite handle their emotions, but found their way back to each other every summer.

One of the things I liked best was the depth of the friendship. You could feel how important Lucy and Bridget are to each other, and how much their friendship means to each party.
Beyond the romance, this book is also a celebration of female friendship!

Didn't enjoy this as much as Every Summer after. Was still a good read though and I will continue reading books from this author

Read if you like:
-Female Friendship
-Best friends brother
-Dual timeline
-Her POV
-Summer Romance

This Summer Will Be Different….. yes yess it will be. Because truly when I tell you this book was better than the first two😍😍

I absolutely loved how the author uses the dual timelines to create emotional and sentimental connection between us as the readers and between Lucy and Felix!

I loved loved Felix, Lucy and Bridget… they all had such great depth! My favourite moments had to be when they were all making meals together 😍 such a cute vibe!!

I enjoyed how this book explored the complexity of relationships. The struggle between desire and loyalty. Showing you a strong FMC deciding what she wants and going for it. Also having good people, a village that have you back and want you to succeed!

Adored this. Such an epic and beautiful love story. I read it in a day because I couldn’t put it down! Lucy visits Prince Edward Island to stay with her roommate’s family but before she gets to their house meets a handsome stranger working in a diner who she spends an unbelievable night with. Afterwards she is shocked to discover he’s her roommate’s brother - who is explicitly off limits. Several summers follow with lots of longing and secret fun before life starts to get serious and the two have to face the reality of their island flings.

Such a tender and deliciously gradual love story. I love the dual timeline. I love that while there’s absolutely insta list between Lucy and Felix, their love develops at a sweet and slow pace. And the island setting is just perfect, you feel totally wrapped up in it and the way of life there. Just a perfect and lovely romance, with a gorgeous epilogue.

What to expect

- best friend’s brother
- secret/forbidden romance
- holiday romance/flings
- mild spice

I enjoyed this one, Carley Fortune always makes for a good read, easy and enjoyable - if a little predictable. But the characters were lovable and I raved through it.

If you're looking for a summer read, I have a feeling this might already be on your radar but if not, it's definitely one to pick up particularly if you're a fan of the likes of Emily Henry and Abby Jimenez.
Despite this being my first Carley Fortune book I thought it was a quick and easy read.
I liked the dual timelines and the setting was brilliant. Who else would 100% up for visiting Prince Edward Island after reading this?
However, there were a few frustrating parts too and the ending felt a bit anticlimatic.
But I will definitely be keeping an eye out for what Carley does next and potentially going back and reading her earlier books.

Thank you NetGalley for my advance copy of this book. This was my first book by Carley Fortune and I was excited to read it as I’d heard so many good things about the author. It did not disappoint. I could not put it down. I was really rooting for Felix and Lucy and I really enjoyed the multiple timelines within the book. I would recommend it to others and I will definitely be reading other books by this author. A solid 4 star book for me.

This book was cute but not my favorite Carley fortune book. The love interests didn’t have too much chemistry and it was just ok for me

This is my first read by this author, and I will definitely be back for more.
I read this on holiday and absolutely loved it. The characters were fully fleshed out, with flaws and all. The romance was gorgeous, and what really stood out for me was the setting.
I didn't know much about Prince Edward Island going in, but now I feel like a piece of my heart already lives there, and I'd love to visit one day.
Absolutely recommended for a romance with heart and soul, along with gorgeous writing.

Another great read by Carley.
I always worry when the 1st book I read by an author blows me away as the next book has a lot to live up to but I didn't need to worry here!
I also enjoyed it as it was based on Canada & brought back memories of my time living in Toronto.
Lucy visits Prince Edward Island one year & meets a handsome local who she then finds out she should stay away from. Her visit is an annual one so how will this pan out?!

I’ve heard great things about Carley Fortune’s books, and wasn’t disappointed when I picked up This Summer Will Be Different.

Mainly set on picture perfect Prince Edward Island, where Lucy’s best friend Bridget’s family lives. Bridget sets Lucy one rule the first summer she visits the island: not to fall in love with Felix. However, the pair quickly fall for each other - without realising who the other is!

Lucy and Felix's chemistry is undeniable, but their complicated relationship, intertwined with the lives of their friends and family, means falling in love isn’t easy.
A perfect slow burn, summer romance read about the importance of second chances. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 stars.
