I've been trying to read more poetry lately and the synopsis of this one intrigued me as I wondered how much of this book would be relatable to me and I would say that more than half of them were. It was painful to read but I think that for me it was the painful realisation that this is something that I relate to, rather than a bad kind of painful, I recommend this book to anyone who loves poetry or anyone who wants to get into reading more poetry. The writing was beautiful as well as the illustrations throughout.

A collection of poems that touch your soul in different ways, it is a roller coaster of emotions because the feelings that the author puts on paper are very easy to identify. Thiere are multiple moments when this books just feels like a comforting hug.

5 stars

I loved this collection. It hit home many times and it felt comforting. There are many themes within this work, which is kindly pointed out by Jasmine J. at the start. We explore depression, trauma, grief, abuse, love, loss, feeling hopeless and helpless. Stunning. And the kind message from Jasmine J. at the end was also a nice touch and showed care towards the audience.

Poetry really is a healing thing when you feel validated in your own dark thoughts and feelings. And this collection really did something for me with my own current feelings and very long battle of struggling.

Would definitely get myself a physical copy to annotate some that hit me. Happy to have read this and find a new poet to look forward to!

I honestly picked this book for the title and it did not disappoint. This poetry collection covers themes including depression, domestic violence, and grief. Though beautiful, it is definitely not for the faint of heart. It’s very much giving Rupi Kaur vibes. This will leave you feeling so seen but also in tears. I will absolutely be keeping my eye on this author in the future!
