I came to this book after encountering several enthusiastic reviews from early readers, and I stayed with the book because of its greatest character by far: Suki, the family dog. Suki is awesome, but the humans? Well, they leave something to be desired, for sure...

Readers get to know Cassie first and best because the early chapters are told from her perspective. It's immediately apparent that her husband, Jon, is terrible. Because this is so obvious, it didn't matter to me WHAT - if anything - he'd done in his past. I wasn't looking for a villain or answers because I'd already gotten enough info immediately. The most mysterious part of the book is what the heck Cassie was still doing with this creep. None of this is spoilery at all. He's a terrible husband and a jerk of a person from the jump.

The intended mystery surrounds the introduction of additional characters, namely Amy. Cassie clearly makes bad choices on her own, so while it's refreshing that she's making new connections, working outside of the home, and socializing, readers can't be surprised to see that some of the folks she immediately engages with are also - as the kids say - sus.

This mystery/thriller is entertaining enough, but the characters are so unlikeable that it makes it tough to root for anyone, including even the discovery of whatever truths might be out there.

This was an ok thriller for me. It started kind of slow but still interesting to keep me reading. I was not a big fan of the characters, with the exception of the German Shepherd - Suki.
I liked the different POVs so I could learn each side of the story but I would also enjoy having flashbacks to their high school years to get a little more background on their past.
Overall 3.5 stars from me.

Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for a copy of an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC in return of an honest review.

Life on Cherry Tree Lane is seemingly perfect for Cassie, Jon and their toddler son, Teddy. Cassie is excited to start a new job in their new area, Jon’s childhood home. In need of a dog walker, Cassie immediately befriends Amy after meeting in the park. The minute Amy enters their world things aren’t as perfect as they seemed.

A psychological thriller that’ll have your heart racing. Personally I didn’t like Cassie as a main character and was often annoyed by her, but the twists and turns had me hooked until the end.

Thank you to Maria Frankland, Bookouture, and NetGallery for allowing me to read and review an advanced copy of I Let Her In.

I was so happy to receive this advanced copy because I fell in love with Maria's writing style when I read Last Christmas during the holiday season last year.

This book was no exception to that writing style!

This book had me hooked from the blurb (which gives nothing about the story away).

Like any great psychological thriller, this is full of twists and turns that keep you guessing from the prologue to the epilogue.

Because I read so many psychological thrillers, I was able to predict the final twist, but that did not change the experience of the reveal. It was awesome.

I loved the suspenseful tone that the book created. During the climax of the book, it was super tense and I found myself completely enveloped in the story.

I enjoyed the triple POV as it allowed the reader to get into the minds of our leading ladies. So much information is uncovered through each of these POVs that the story never gets dull.

I absolutely loved the character development of Cassie. As to be expected when someone you considered a friend kidnaps your child...

This book was great. I was hooked from the beginning. I’d forgotten how much I love domestic thrillers and this was a great reminder. I tore through it in just a few days.

It’s slow burn, as they say, but well-paced and entertaining all the way through.

I do think a dual timeline situation would’ve strengthened the storyline and added some depth to the characters. Just my opinion. On another note this book would make a great mini-series.

This was my first Maria Frankland book but I'll definitely be checking out her others. Highly recommend.

4.4 rounded down to 4.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the arc.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for the book #ILetHerIn by #MariaFrankland. This book is full of regrets, revenge and secrets surrounding a decade old murder. Was the right person punished? Why all the secrets? The non stop action kept me on edge until the very end and plot twist. Loved it and highly recommend.

Thank you for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
This book was easy to get straight into from the first page, and was an absolute page turner from then on in.
If you're looking for a one chapter a night at bedtime book, this won't be the one for you!
The plot had all the necessary ingredients for a great domestic thriller, twists, turns, intrigue and surprises aplenty.
The ending was very clever, and I'd never have guessed it,
I did feel that it was wrapped up into a neat little package minus the bow on top, but who says every present has to have a bow?

“I Let Her In” by Maria Frankland is a gripping psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

The story follows the main character, Cassie who moves to a new neighborhood with her husband, Jon and young son, Teddy, in hopes of starting fresh. However, things take a dark turn when her new friend, Amy, kidnaps her son and reveals a sinister secret that Cassie never knew existed.

Maria does an excellent job of building tension and suspense throughout the novel. I love how she kept me guessing about Amy’s true motives. The pacing is perfect, with twists and turns that left me shocked and wanting more.

Overall, “I Let Her In” is a thrilling and captivating read that will keep you hooked until the very end.

Maria has written a compelling story that will keep you turning the pages late into the night, and I mean late, lol. I seriously lost sleep because of this book! I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a thrilling and suspenseful read.

I Let Her In by Maria Frankland

The twist is just mind-blowing! I love this kind of domestic thriller, like being watched, perfect couple from the outside and something about the neighborhood.

This is the thriller that hits all the thrillers should be. I was just hooked from the beginning.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for my copy.

This was a fast pace page turner book!!! It was so good a solid 4.5 for me. If the ending wasn’t so rush I would of given it 5 stars for sure. The book had the right amount of twist and turn and characters that you can relate to but the ending feels incomplete so let’s hope for a sequel to this.

If you are a Frieda McFadden fast you will LOVE this book

***I Let Her In by Maria Frankland***
Coming soon! March 19th 2024

I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced copy of this book and it did not disappoint. This is my first read by Maria Frankland and I found the storyline to be both compelling and intriguing.
***As a United States born (and raised) reader, I did find some of the language in this book to be somewhat tricky or cheesy at times. However, I fully attribute this to growing up in the United States rather than a fault of the author as certain words, phrases and nuances do not directly translate or sound natural despite being English.***

I loved the way that the author switches point of views through this book. She does so in a way that makes it very clear whose point of view you are currently reading, but also moves the story line forward. For a thriller/mystery, this book had a unique storyline and the characters were very relatable. This book had many underlying storylines, but the most relatable one for me was the storyline built around Cassie’s lack of confidence and need for closeness that caused her to desperately trust others quickly.
If I could change one thing about this book it would be the character of John. John is a peculiar character, but lacked the charisma that other characters often described him as having. John’s character was not like-able at any point in the story, which in my opinion made the ending less impactful. It also in my opinion took away from the plot twist, because as I reader I did not pity his character at any point. I also found his interactions with Cassie to feel somewhat cheesy and not genuine throughout the story. In short, I struggled to buy into his character and felt that some further character development could have been helpful.

Overall, I am very pleased with this book and definitely recommend it to others who love thriller, suspense, mystery and a good plot twist. I look forward to reading more books by Frankland in the future.

It was so scary.

First I will say I did thoroughly enjoy the book, the characters were well thought out however extremely frustrating at times.
Cassie is married to Jon who inherited his family home after the death of his estranged mother to be kept for their son Teddy.
Jon is seemingly a very successful man who is well off and likes people to think the best of him - he is very controlling of his wife who he feels should be perfect and look perfect for the benefit of his reputation. I very much disliked every part of his character.
Carrie - the perfect wife - just wants to be a normal mum and make some friends near their new home. Having gotten herself a new job (against Jon’s wishes) she now needs a dog walker - she finds Amy, a nice lady she met at the park.
I couldn’t help but feel sorry for Amy, she seems down on her luck, very jealous of all that Jon and Carrie have. Amy however does have her downsides - almost stalker like of the home, taking Carrie’s cast off clothes and abusing their trust in the home.
The plot was very fast paced and I was eager to find out why Amy seemed so obsessed with the family.
Overall I felt it was very well written however there were parts that were quite frustrating - why not install a security camera instead of just an alarm system - saying that though the story would have been quite different if they had.
The book leaves you thinking - can you really know a person?
An easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me. A quick read for any thriller fans.

I really enjoyed this book. I switched back and forth between the audio and the print copy.

It's a fast-paced , plot driven domestic thriller that was absolutely gripping from start to finish.

I was instantly caught up in the tangled web Miss Frankland created for our main characters, and I was on the edge of my seat for all of it.

There were several reveals and multiple surprises. I guessed a few but was so engrossed in the story that I barely noticed, and that ending I didn't see coming!

Thank you to Netgally , Bookature and the Author for the advanced copy. My review was voluntary.

2.5 stars // This book started a little slow for me and I struggled to get into the “thriller” aspect of it. Cassie is constantly paranoid that someone is stalking them and her “perfect” husband is never believes her and gaslights her. Once Amy comes into the picture, I started to get more intrigued on how this story was going to come together. Amy clearly had some motives for getting close to Cassie. The plot did start to pick up once it came out how Amy, Becca and Jon are all connected to Jade’s death ten years prior. I felt bad for Amy knowing she was wronging convicted for a murder she didn’t commit. Jon is an abusive and controlling husband who definitely got what he deserved in the end, but I was disappointed that Becca got away with murder because it was her who actually killed Jade.

Pretty basic thriller. I didn't enjoy the writing style very much. I didn't connect with the characters either ( probably because of the writing).

Cassie, her husband Jon, and their son Teddy moving into Jon's childhood home after he's inherited it. Cassie was glad to leave her old home behind her. At times, she felt someone was watching her. She is hoping the move to the new home will bring her friendships and a new beginning. Yet next-door neighbour Becca is sullen and rude from the outset.
Cassie 's only hope for friendship is Amy, who she meets in the park. Can Amy be trusted, or has she got an ulterior motive to befriend Cassie?

Oh boy, Cassie is so desperate to make friends that she literally lets in a stranger to her house. I think I would be a little bit more wary.

I Let Her In is told in different POV, which added to the story. There are not many characters, so it makes it easy to follow. Though I have to admit, I didn't really like either of the main characters. Cassie is weak. Jon is controlling, which really infuriated me. How did he manage to get away with it for so long?

I really thought I had the story sussed out halfway through the book, but the ending still took me by surprise.

This was an easy read, and I definitely will read other books by this author.

Thank you to netgalley and bookouture for the advanced reader's copy.
