Thank you to NetGalley, HQ digital, and Hannah Doyle for the advance e-copy.
The Pick-Up was a delightful closed door romance with banter, a fake romance, relatable, dynamic characters, and a slow burn. I read it all in one sitting, because I just could not put it down. I was absolutely riveted. The overall feel of the book gave off Bridget Jones vibes with the UK location and pop culture references as well as the constant questioning by the FMC, Sophie, in her head about what is happening around her. The MMC, Joe, was a charming cinnamon roll that you wanted to root for. The plot was fun and although a spin on the common "fake dating" trope, it felt fresh and new due to the unique location (school pick ups) and the main characters being in their 30's and established. I can definitely see myself re-reading this time and again for a good laugh!
This book is for you if you like:

* Cozy, but sometimes overstepping, families

This was a delightful rom-com that had me laughing out loud from start to finish. The author did a lovely job of crafting a wonderfully quirky love story filled with hilarious mishaps, witty banter, and swoon-worthy moments. The characters are lovable and full of personality. Joe and Sophie are both single parents and decide to help each other out by pretending to be in a relationship. Of course they know from the start that it's all an act, but then why do things begin to feel so real?
The plot is lighthearted, combining the right amount of romance and humor. This is a super cute story that will have you grinning from ear to ear when you are done, leaving you with a warm feeling of contentment.

This was a great, lighthearted read with a bit of emotional depth. Two single parents find each other and agree to fake date to help each other out. The progression of their relationship is so cute!
I found "The Pick Up" by Hannah Doyle to be a fun and heartwarming read. The story follows Sophie Rogers, a single parent who, along with another single parent, Joe, decides to fake a romance to solve all of their issues. What starts as a practical arrangement soon becomes something much more as Sophie finds herself genuinely enjoying spending time with Joe.
Doyle's writing is charming and relatable, making it easy to root for Sophie and Joe. The humor and warmth in the story are perfect for rom-com fans who want a light and easy read and the book provides a lovely escape into a world where fake relationships turn into something real. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a feel-good, laugh-out-loud story.
Overall: 3.5
Divorce mom and widowed father meet agree to a fake dating and the rest is history. It was cute, fun and lighthearted. You'll find yourself laughing at times. It feels like a hallmark or lifetime movie in written form.
I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.
I loved this book. It is such a cute and funny rom com with my favorite trope, fake dating. The characters are wonderful! I very much enjoyed the communication between them and the humor. I truly laughed out loud several times reading this. Absolutely didn't want this story to end and slowed my reading pace down towards the end just to make it last a little longer. I look forward to future releases from the author and will definitely recommend. Thank you to NetGalley and publisher for the arc to review. All opinions are my own.

3.5 This was a fun cute romance with fake dating trope. I loved the characters and the banter but found it to be a little forgettable. I was also not a huge fan of the third act conflict but still had a fun time reading. I would like to thank net galley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Sophie and Joe. Sophie is a divorced mother and starting a marketing company. Joe is widow with a son and a professor. Their children go to the same school, they meet while they are waiting on their kids to get out of school. There is an instant attraction. They go out for coffee and decide to fake date. They start dating and their plan is working until it doesn’t. The reason it doesn’t is because they are in love with each other.
"The Pick Up" by Hannah Doyle is a fun, light-hearted romantic comedy that explores the unpredictable and often chaotic nature of modern dating. The story likely follows a protagonist who, after a chance encounter or an awkward mix-up, embarks on a romantic adventure filled with unexpected twists, charming mishaps, and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.
Doyle’s writing is typically fresh and witty, with relatable characters who navigate the ups and downs of love and life in a way that feels both authentic and entertaining. The plot might involve mistaken identities, awkward first dates, or the challenges of meeting someone special in a world where technology often complicates things rather than simplifies them.
"The Pick Up" is ideal for fans of contemporary romance who enjoy stories that blend humor with heart, offering a feel-good escape into the sometimes messy but always exciting world of dating. It’s a perfect read for anyone looking for a light, engaging story about finding love when you least expect it.
A fake romance to make both Sophie and Joe's lives a bit easier, starts to become much more. This story is written with lovely warm characters, the kids even have real personality, and is minus the cringe worthy moments that a lot of these type of stories fall victim to. A great romance read perfect for holidays or just curling up on the couch with.
This book was so cute! It follows Sophie, a divorced single mom that's desperate to be accepted by the PTA moms and to get her younger sister off her back about finding love. She sees an opportunity and comes to a mutually beneficial agreement with the new hot single dad, Joe.
Fake dating tropes are my jam, so I loved it. And it also features a little bit of forced proximity, one bed, and friends to lovers.
This was my first time reading a book by Hannah Doyle and I loved her writing style. I audibly laughed while reading, which doesn't happen often. The story had some witty humor which hooked me instantly.
There is literally nothing that I didn't like about this book.

This story was so heartwarming. It was such a cute relationship over some really wholesome moments. The romance is so pure and they have sun a fun way of communicating that it just feels really relatable.
This is a close door romance about two single parents who fake date. This is such a cute heartwarming story that follows Sophie and Joe. The two come up with a plan to fake date so Sophie can get some play dates for Lila and Joe can stop getting casseroles from the Moms.
I enjoyed this book. It is not a genre I would normally read but I read it whilst on holiday. It was light hearted and a feel good story. It is relatable and a good holiday read.
The Pick Up was such a cute and sweet contemporary romance! While Fake Dating is a trope I love and read often, I don't know that I've ever read one where both the MMC & FMC are single parents, and it was a good change of pace for me.

I enjoyed this funny rom-com. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book! Sophie is a capable and loving single mom whose family wants her to find love again after an ugly and painful divorce. Cue Joe, the single dad she meets at school pick up. All of the moms have big crushes on him. To help each other out, they decide to start fake dating to keep Sophia’s off her back and to help simmer down the other moms. You can guess the rest…
I always want to start my reviews by thanking the author and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book early. Being completely honest, I didn't really enjoy this book. I found the characters not really relatable which made it hard for me to buy in to the story.
