Sunday afternoon was spent with this sweet and enjoyable novel. I did finish it one day it was so good!
I.do love a wonderful second chance story.
The setting was lovely and the characters and animals were pretty cool. The animals were what made it special in my opinion.
The descriptions in this beautiful novel made me feel like I was there.
What I liked was the friendships that were made throughout this book. Having friends is pretty special especially if they help and support you through your time of grief.
I can't imagine going through what Jude is going through. How hard that must be! I found myself rooting for her until the end!
The family dynamics were what kept me turning the pages of this novel.
5 stars for a sweet and fun read. I highly recommend!
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I enjoyed this book so much! I really felt I was along the side of the characters and I was pulling for them! I would definitely recommend this book!
After the tragic death of her husband, Jude Fitzgerald sells her house in Oxford, puts her belongings into storage and moves to Anglesey. She and her husband had spent their honeymoon there, years ago.
Jude's journey is approximately 2 years, and we see her go through various seasons and struggles in the cottage she is renting. After a rough season, the little cottage becomes a type of refuge for Jude, allowing her to heal and look forward to a different future, while still treasuring her past.
Jude meets new friends and forges new relationships. There is a slow build up to romance, but it is sweet and realistic.
I love the addition of the small animals and the life-like friendships that are made in this book. It really made her feel like I was part of the story.
Thank you to netgalley for allowing me to review.
Jude Fitzgerald loses her husband and decides to move to a cliff side cottage on the isle of Anglesey, where they spent their honeymoon. very good book.
Not my usual preferred reading, I picked it on a whim because the second chances intrigued me. Excellent read, start to finish. Giving hope to those who have loved and lost their soul mate. I felt like I was there, on the beach, coming to terms with what was next in life.
Huge thanks to the publisher and NetGallery for the advanced copy in return for an honest review.
A story set on the fabulous island of Anglesey, described so well by the author who obviously loves the area. Jude Fitzgerald needs to find her own way to deal with her grief after the death of her husband. She rents a small cottage where she and her husband had their honeymoon, somewhere that brings back memories and a place to hunker down while trying to find the strength to carry on. Really well written, I loved the friendships that Jude made on the island, as well as her old friends who still supported her, even if they didn’t agree with the way she hid herself away.I liked the way the Welsh language was written into the dialogue, as well as R S Thomas’ poetry. A really good book to curl up with, to immerse yourself in and to make plans to visit the island. Recommended .
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book.
4* A beautiful book cover with a moving plot.
Deep in grief and seeking to find peace after the tragic death of her husband, Jude Fitzgerald sells her house in Oxford, puts her belongings into storage and moves to Anglesey where years ago she and her husband spent their honeymoon. Arriving in late autumn with only her cat for company, the holiday cottage Jude rents for the coming winter, whilst in a magnificent beachside location, is only suitable for summer living, it's damp, heated by a wood burning stove, and the roof leaks. Even with horizontal rain and howling gales, the cottage becomes Jude's sanctuary, enabling her to face the future whilst treasuring her past memories.
At the start of spring and the arrival of warmer weather, life in the cottage becomes more comfortable. No longer needing a refuge, Jude is drawn into the community by her new friends.
High class writing with an excellent description of the location, the believable and likeable characters all result in a thoroughly enjoyable book. Recommended.

Secrets at the cottage by the sea i by Caroline Young is my first book by this author.
Even though this is the second book in this series I found myself liking the book very much. I love the characters and how enjoyed their friendships.
It was an easy read and will definately be looking to read the first book.
This is the second book I've read from the author, and, like the first, I truly appreciated the description of Wales and the liberal use of Welsh phrases. It added a wonderful element to the story. The author made it easy to slip into the story, and I felt like I was involved. For me, I appreciated (and envied) Jude and her relationships with her friends. They felt real, thought-out, and true.
I enjoyed this, and look forward to the next installment.
I received a complimentary copy of the novel from the publisher and NetGalley, and my review is being given freely.
Welcome to Wales. What a delightful novel. I did not read the first of this series. Interesting and intriguing couple. Lots of wonderful characters and critters to add flair to the tale. A slow but charming story that eventually gets to a happily ever after. Lots of angst along the way. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

This is a tale of a journey of a young woman traversing grief and new beginnings. Jude has a long 2 year path to finding her happiness. She forms a lot of different relationships and friendships with people. At times it’s a very heart wrenching read. It’s a very thought provoking read. It’s cleverly written. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
