Talia and Tabitha are twin sisters living next to each other in a small NY town. Tabitha lives a lavish life with her husband Grant and their son, Cole.
Talia and her husband, Zach, are not as well off but are happy living close to Tabitha.
When a well known author, Anne, rents the house next to Talia, both sisters go to greet the new neighbor with cupcakes from their bakery. Tabitha immediately has reservations about Anne and thinks she has ulterior motives. Talia doesn't feel the same and looks forward to making a new friend.
When Anne begins to act strangely, Tabitha becomes even more wary of the new neighbor and doesn't like Talia having a relationship with her. Anne is definitely hiding something.
I felt that this book had the potential to be much more fast paced, but something about the writing style made it drag a bit. The story itself was really interesting but didn't pick up much pace til halfway through. I appreciated that the ending was nicely wrapped up, even though the whole plot was a bit farfetched.
Thank you to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

"Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer."
this book was so suspenseful! it's been a while since i've read a thriller and let me tell you, i was HOOKED from the very first page. the novel was filled with secrets and lies, and although i had theories on what would happen next, i wasn't right. i didn't see any of those plot twists coming and i was shocked when i found out the truth. i loved the short chapters and how well the writing flowed as the story progressed. the only thing i didn't really like was the fact that i couldn't connect to the characters, but that is probably because they are older than me and at a different life stage, so they weren't that relatable to me. but that's actually a good thing because i don't need the drama they went through. if you're looking for a fast-paced and thrilling mystery, then i highly recommend reading this! i look forward to reading more books by this author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and the opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This was a page Turner for sure, but some of it seemed a little too predictable and I thought the end was a little bit absurd and everything got tied up a little too easily. That being said, I did enjoy this book and it kept me coming back to see what happened next !
This book is incredible. It had me hook line and sinker from first chapter. I really liked the characters and got to know them well easily. Pace through the book was good and I couldn't wait to find out what happened. A great read overall.
Identical twins, living next door to each other, and working together, in a seemingly idyllic life... or is it?
Tabitha and Taulia, owners and operators of the local cupcake shop are deemed royalty in their small east coast town. Life is good and everyone seems happy until a well known mystery writer (Anne) moves in next door to Taulia. Something about the writer seems off, but neither woman can really identify why. Anne seems very cold and standoffish to the twins' husbands and Taulia especially is supsicious of her attitude. As things unfold, we see a plethora of manipulation and darkness as some characters plot to satisfy their greed and selfishness.
The second half of the book went VERY quickly. While not a traditional thriller (particularly as it relates to the scale of crimes), this was a decent (if implausible at times) story and things were well described. I didn't guess the ending either which is always a bonus. :) 3.5 stars, rounded up.
Thanks to NetGalley, Storm Publishing and Sally Royer-Derr for the ARC copy. Scheduled publish date is March 4, 2024.

I'm not sure about this. It was a fair domestic thriller. I knew what was going on the entire time so that takes away from my rating. While I was reading this, I had such a better plot worked out in my mind. It was a story of twin sisters who aren't as close as they seem. The ending was a little disappointing as well. Not sure if I will read this author again.
What a fantastic read. It kept me gripped and I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen. Will definitely recommend this book.
A spellbinding domestic thriller that will leave you questioning the very nature of trust. Gripping, intense, and utterly compelling, this was a seriously good read.
The secrets next-door starts out as a very intriguing story in a dual POV with a set of twins Talia & Tabitha. They run a bake shop together and they live next-door to each other. So one would assume they must have the best relationship. They get a new neighbor and the sisters become a little obsessed with figuring out who she is and what she wants.
Initially, I was hooked on this book, it was interesting and mysterious. There were some moments in this book I felt were too jumpy. By the middle of the book, I was kind of losing interests because there was some circling and the characters were a little dull. But towards the end Sally starts to hit some very important points, some crazy events happen causing a storm of truths to unfold. The truths about everyone’s past and that helps the story finish off strong with some surprises.
Thank you, Storm Publishing, Sally Roger-Derr and Net Galley for giving me this opportunity to review the book in advance. To be released 3/4/2024.
Thank you Netgalley & Storm Publishing for an eARC ♥️
Anne, the new neighbor, moves onto a picturesque suburban street, and the nosy neighbors are 👀, watching her every move. Talia and Tabitha, the queen bees of the block, swing by with a sweet welcome gift, but Anne's not buying it. She's got her own secrets hidden behind a poker face. 🤔
As you dive into the story, the tension builds like a slow-burning fire. You start wondering who's hiding what, and what's really going on behind those perfectly manicured lawns and closed doors. 🚪 It's like a game of cat and mouse, where everyone's trying to keep their skeletons locked away, but Anne's not afraid to play dirty. 💪
And that ending?! 🤯 Mind. Blown. I did NOT see that coming!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Identical married twins, Tabitha and Talia live next door to each other and own a bakery. They do everything together. When a mysterious woman, Anne, moves in next door to Talia; Tabitha instantly distrusts her. She also becomes jealous of any time that Talia spends with Anne. As the secrets and lies build up, the shocking conclusion reveals all the long held secrets between the three women.
I had a hard time writing a review for this book. I did not consider it a true psychological thriller. Maybe a mystery, but not a thriller. For the most part it was slow paced and the author often over described clothing, furniture, etc. to the point of repetition and I thought it was just to add to the word count.
For me this was just a slow mystery with a decent ending.
Thank you Netgalley and Storm Publishing for an early copy. These comments and review are my own opinion. 3.5 stars rounded up.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
I also listened to the audiobook version of this.
Really great read about a complicated relationship between twin sisters Tallia and Tabitha.
Talk about a surprise ending and some major surprises. Everything makes sense at the end and is tied up in a perfect bow that makes sense.
Great book.
Thank you for the advance copy, I really enjoyed the book and did not for a second think the ending was where it was going at first. The writing style was easy to read and I was gripped from the beginning. I felt like it did turn quickly towards the end which was a shock. The characters were believable and I felt like I wanted to know more about them.
This audio was done really well. The prologue locks you in and makes you want to keep reading as you try to figure out what is going on with all of these characters. So many twists and turns and honestly i didn’t seen the way things unfolded coming.
It flowed, was faced paced and enjoyable. I enjoyed the dual POV of the sisters as well.
I would have loved to see some chapters or an epilogue from Anna’s POV and just to have some things explained more than we kind of got left unanswered based on her mindset of why she did certain things, but overall was an enjoyable read.
Twins Tabitha and Talia are thirty something twins who live in Little Beak, New York and run a cupcake shop together. Tabitha’s husband, Ben, comes from a wealthy family and has helped Talia and husband Zach financially, enabling them to move next door. Tabitha, the elder of the two, is the most assertive. She is also possessive of Talia, who enjoys friendships with other people – something Tabitha dislikes.
When writer Anne Graveley rents the house next door to Talia, both sisters begin to take an interest in her activities, some of which cause them to become suspicious of her.
Written from both Tabitha and Talia’s POV, this is a slow read, not helped by the amount of information the reader is given about the central characters. At times I felt there was a little too much description going on, and this tended to slow the pace of the novel. In contrast, the prologue, which detailed the drowning of a young girl, promised a great read, but this did not materalise.
There were times when I nearly gave up on this book and also occasions when I skipped paragraphs. Having said that, about 60% in, the story began to pick up and after one scene between Anne and Talia, things began to fall into place. I have to say, I didn’t find either of the sisters particularly likeable. I also felt this particular story lacked depth – although the plot was interesting, the delivery felt flat. However, that is not to say I wouldn’t be interested in reading something else from the author in the future.

I flew through this book, absolutely dying to know what would happen next. This is captivating. A seamless ride with unexpected sharp turns I did not see coming.
New author to me. I can't believe this book. I loved it. The book had me hooked from the second chapter on. The way this story was trending, was fantastic. The twists and turned were so good. I couldn't guess what was going to happen at the end. This book surprised me with a twist I never saw coming! WOW
Great read Sally and I can't wait to see what you come up next. This book keep me guessing at every turn.
Magnificent read. I can't tel! You how much I loved this book. You sure had me fooled!
I received an advanced copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This a new author for me and I really enjoyed this book. The plot was well written and flowed seamlessly without inconsistencies or plot holes. An intriguing, engaging thriller with a touch of humor thrown in.
The plot kept spinning wildly throughout…couldn’t put it down!
Highly recommend and looking forward to reading more by Sally Royer-Derr.
I love fast-paced, page turning whodunnits! And The Secrets Next Door by Sally Royer-Derr was exactly that. I read this book in less than 48 hours, which is FAST for me. I needed to know how this book was going to end!!
Here are a few things I enjoyed about The Secrets Next Door: (1) multiple points of view, (2) short chapters, (3) unreliable characters and (4) plot twists I didn't predict. I thought the author did a great job wrapping everything up at the end. Some authors rush the ending leaving the reader confused, and I did not experience this. I am definitely recommending this book to my friends!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the eARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

On a leafy, suburban street, curtains are subtly twitched to watch the new neighbor moving in. Anne gets exactly the welcome to the neighborhood she expects: a basket of homemade cupcakes delivered by the woman next door and her best friend. One wears a curious smile while the other studies her every move. When Talia and Tabitha leave, Anne throws the treats in the trash.
She knows what to expect from the new neighbors. Talia with her perfect husband and pale-peach sweater sets, and Tabitha who reigns as queen in the close-knit community. That’s why she chose this house.
But they don’t know what to expect from her.
And if they get suspicious, well they can’t uncover Anne’s secrets without spilling their own…
Loved this one so much.
Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for giving me an advance copy.
