This was a very exciting thriller with so many twists and turns that I was constantly wondering who I could trust and kept guessing right up until the end. The pace seemed to be a bit uneven at times and I thought that there were a few small plot holes but it wasn't enough to stop my enjoyment of this story.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the chance to read this ARC.

A book full of twists galore and a real case of who can you trust.
I wasn't sure where the story was going but i soon found out.
Well written characters and a tense and engaging storyline.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.

Great psychothriller book! It is based on a podcaster whose mom passed away and her trials through life. So many twists and turns! Really enjoyed this one!

Thank you, NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada, Doubleday Canada for the copy of Known To The Victim by K.L. Armstrong. If you’ve read the Haven Rock series or anything else by Kelley Armstrong, you already know the writing will propel you through the story and the characters will be interesting. I loved the story and the podcast aspect that was still integral to, but never took over the narrative. If you’re looking for a great thriller beach read, you can’t go wrong with this one! 4 stars.

An absolutely outrageous and thrilling ride from start to finish. I truly could not put this book down and finished it all in one day.
I was fascinated by the premise, but it really hooked me right from chapter 1. And kept me on my toes all the way till the end.
It was filled with so many twists and turns I began to second guess everything. Which I couldn’t even be upset about since it is exactly what the story wanted me to do. And then it kept me from guessing the conclusion until I finally got there myself. A quality I always love in a mystery/thriller book.
Armstrong always excels at mysteries, and any reader who enjoys a thriller should pick this up!
I cannot thank the publisher and Netgalley enough for letting me access this one a bit early. 5/5

I loved reading this book! I love her books, and I was looking forward to this one, the idea of a woman whose mother was killed, by partner violence, to have her brother, who helped her, be accused of that, well, that's a stressful time!
I really felt badly for Amy, she's built her career on talking about violence against women committed by their partners. Then her brother, who helped her, is having someone go to the police because they think that he committed a crime against his girlfriend, and his deceased wife, yeah, it's complicated.
This book went in a totally unexpected direction. From what happened just before, it gave a hint of where it was going, but I wasn't expected that, and what it added to the story was so fantastic! I had to know what was going to happen next!
When certain information came to light, I wasn't sure what to think. It was really suspicious, but on the other hand, I didn't like what it meant, and there could've been an awful reason. But oh, that ending was really great and so clever!
Loved reading this book and I can't wait to read more by whatever name she writes, K.L or Kelley Armstrong!

So much misdirection and so many twists. I didn't want to put this down, I just had to see where it was going. Makes you wonder who you can trust. Thank you Penguin Random House Canada and NetGalley for my arc.

I can't believe this is my first Armstrong book under this name. I absolutely adore her writing and don't know how I have missed her writing under this name. I can say, without a doubt, this will not be my last. I loved this. It had everything I love in a really good mystery that keeps me on my toes, and more importantly, turning the pages. This was so much fun, interesting, and a great read. I will be searching out her others now for sure.

Amy's mother is murdered by her boyfriend. She withdraws from life until her half-brother, Oliver saves her. Years later, she is the host of a true crim podcast that focuses on crimes against women by their partners. Oliver is accused of the unthinkable by his partner and Amy sets out to prove her brother's innocence.
A very fast paced, exciting thriller. No boring pages. It's not a romance but a psychologic suspense with lots of twists. The book is very well plotted. An intriguing book. Really enjoy it.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

Gripping book. Amy has a podcast, Known to the Victim, that deals with predators. Those men that seem average or so very nice. Those we can't identify, or perhaps don't want to identify because they are nice and seem like they could never perpetrate domestic abuse, gaslighting, control. Who wouldn't be the kind of person to murder those they date or are married to.
So what happens when her own brother is accused of murdering his wife. He'd been absolved of the crime, but what if he wasn't innocent? There are so many twists and turns. Like Amy, I wound up second guessing every clue and reveal. Every action. Everything that seemed to indicate Oliver might not be as innocent as he seems. As nice as he seems.
I won't say much more as you need to read this to feel the raw depth to this story.

Amy Gibson goes into a terrible depression when her mother is murdered.
Her half brother, Oliver takes her in.
Eight years later, she has her own podcast, "Known to the Victim", and is studying.
At one of her live shows, a woman stands up and hurls accusations about Oliver.
Amy employs a private investigator, Dean Castillo to find out who the woman is.
This is a fast paced, extremely suspenseful thriller. I was gripped from the first chapter, and could not put the book down!
The characters are well developed, and I liked the way Amy accepted Dean's initial behaviour.
I recommend this book and it gets a solid 5/5 stars from me.
Thanks to Netgalley and Doubleday Canada for the opportunity to read this book.

When Amy Gibson's mother is murdered by a boyfriend her mother dated briefly, she goes to pieces. In addition to everything else, she also drops out of college.
Amy's downward spiral is halted only after her half brother Oliver rescues her from this difficult situation, and helps her put her life back together.
But eight years later, there is a shocking development. By now, Amy has set up a true crime podcast and garnered quite a lot of attention by focusing on the crimes committed against women by those closest to them.
When, to her horror, allegations are made against Oliver by his partner, Amy is determined to prove his innocence. The thing is, is her half brother entirely as blameless as Amy thinks he is?
This is a compelling read. The pacing is a little uneven at times, but the narrative is well written, and the reader is gripped as events unfold. It gets 3.5 stars.

The first half of this book had me HOOKED! I was enjoying everything about it. It had mystery and intrigue and I could barely put the book down. And then, all of a sudden, it started to change. It was subtle, but it was losing me. It got to be too much like an episode of a mystery/crime tv show. Regardless, I was invested in the story and didn't give up hope. It started to climb again towards the end, so overall I am happy with the story and will definitely recommend it to others.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced ebook copy in exchange for my honest review.
3.5 stars rounded up to four.

The first thing that grabbed my attention about this book was the true crime podcast. I love books that have this trope. It was fast paced and I couldn't put it down. Highly recommend.

This was a good psychological thriller that's filled with twists and turns. The book follows Amy, who is a true crime podcaster. She starts the podcast after her mother is murdered by a man that she briefly dated. The podcast focuses on victims who have known their attackers and tries to help people see warning signs of abuse. But while she's been warning others, Amy has missed the warning signs about someone in her own life.
This book had me hooked from page one with its wonderful plot. It's fast-paced, but at times, I needed to step away from it because it made me feel incredibly anxious. At times, I just wanted to yell at Amy that she was being stupid, and I would get frustrated and put the book down. It ended up taking me almost two weeks to read it, and even though I enjoyed the book, I was kind of annoyed with the characters throughout.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own. This was a good psychological thriller that's filled with twists and turns. Thank you to Netgallery and the publisher for this ARC. The publication date is the 25th June. This book has me second guessing all characters as to who was the killer was! It was twisty plot that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the chapters.
Overall, a great book that keeps you gripped to the very last page. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 stars! 😊

Known to the Victim - K.L. Armstrong. Coming June 2024, this is a Perfectly Fine Thriller (PFT ™️) which I expect will perform nicely with a summer release. All in all, this book had some reasonable twists and characters that were generally easy to buy into. The storyline is a particularly interesting one given the sheer volume of internet sleuthing that follows on the heels of every major or mass market crime in this day and age, and the author does a nice job balancing the delivery of her clearly defined message with keeping the story entertaining.
Good:
- Armstrong’s prose is excellent and her dialogue generally reads like real life
- The storyline is highly realistic
- Twists are plentiful and pretty good. Not great but good.
Not good:
- Couple of pretty big plot holes that don’t make much sense. Main antagonist’s motivation is sus at best.
- Dialogue, while realistic, sometimes tiptoes into overly sensitive behavior by the main characters which makes those portions slightly cringy.
This is a good beach book and a fast read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 / 5. Thanks to the author, netgalley, and the publishers for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Amy Gibson's mother was murdered by her boyfriend- this is something that defines her life and caused her to drop out of college and cut off her friends and family. Oliver, her half brother, saves her by providing a home and support, holding her up, when no one else has.
It's 8 years later and Amy has her own true crime podcast that addresses crime against women from their partners. Suddenly her brother Oliver's partner is making allegations and Amy isn't sure what or who to believe. She knows she owes everything to her half-brother, but what is he is guilty?
This twisty thriller will keep you guessing and wondering and looking at EVERYONE. It's a great story and perfectly executed! #penguinbooks #knowntothevictim #klarmstrong

I’m a huge fan of this author’s work under a different name, and so I was curious to read her under this name. I loved how the mystery unfolded—is Amy’s brother possibly the killer people say? Or is he the big brother she has come to depend on, being falsely accused. This book had twists and turns, but not so many to make it confusing. I read this in one sitting, it was so good. I highly recommend reading this.

The main character is Amy Gibson, who is working on her doctorate and also has a popular podcast about domestic violence, "Known to the Victim". Amy's whole life changed after the murder of her mother by a man her mother had dated. Her podcast is not just for entertainment, but about educating women about the signs that might mean that they are in a toxic, controlling relationship. One surprise was that it may not be a romantic relationship; it can be a friend, a coworker, an academic adviser, and male or female.
This book is extremely well written and the plot is excellent with just enough clues piling up to where I thought that the author could not possibly be going in a certain direction. But she was. As a woman, I found it deeply disturbing, but if I had any daughters (or if my son was a reader), I'd want them to read this book.
I received an e-arc from publisher Penguin Random House Canada/Doubleday Canada, and vountarily read and reviewed this book.
