I loved this book kit. It had so much information on the book. This novel wasn't on my radar till I looked at this kit
Now I'm so excited for The Mayor of Maxwell Street. As I love this type of read, this instantly made it to the top of my tbr. Great job on this kit!
Wonderful toolkit for book clubs. This goes wonderfully with the book and allowed the book club to really enjoy the book discussions. Thank you.
Wonderful interview with the author! This will be great for a book club or any group reading The Mayor of Maxwell Street. Thought-provoking discussion questions along with everything needed to make a book party. The drinks and food look fabulous and don't forget to dress the part. A playlist to set the mood and one has everything needed to go back to the 20's in style. Thanks for the free book club kit!
This is a great tool to use along side of the book. I can’t wait to use it with my book club. This guide is well thought out and the questions will help bring up some great discussions.
I misread and thought I was downloading the book. This kit looks like a lot of fun and useful activities. But I do plan to read.the book when I get a chance.
Thanks so much We Are Bookish and NetGalley for the download.
This is an extensive 19-page PDF in color. A complete book club kit with an author interview, discussion questions, recipes, bookmarks, and more. I am excited to use this kit for my book club in March. It will be a nice addition to my usual homemade discussion and information packet.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a digital ARC. All opinions are my own.
It was not clear to me that this was only the book club kit and would not include the book itself, so I am unable to provide substantive feedback at this time. I would recommend packaging this with the book to get the best feedback. I look forward to reading the book in the future.
This is an excellent tool to use when discussing the book. I look forward to using the questions provided to enhance our book club meeting and using the recipes provided to really place ourselves in the storyline.
Very well put together and convenient guide to be used along with the book. I have never used a guide previously but I definitely will now
A perfect lot for any book club reading or going to read or have read this book. Very well put together with everything you'll need.
Having just finished ‘The Mayor of Maxwell Street’ I was pleased that We Are Bookish had produced this Book Club Kit.
I was especially interested in the interview with Avery Cunningham and the background to her writing this powerful work of historical fiction.
Among other extras there was also a playlist and recipes along with ideas for how to enhance a book club meeting.
Thank you "Netgalley" for the Book club kit. the kit was very well organized! There was a. Interview for the author and discussion questions which were pretty cool. The bookmarks were amazing as well.
A highly recommended book club kit for a fabulous book.
Thank you, We Are Bookish, for this great resource!
Opinions are mine.
I misread and thought I was downloading the book. This kit looks like a lot of fun and useful activities. Will tell my book club about this opportunity. The book sounds awesome.
I just ordered my copy of the book thru BOTM and now NetGalley have a book club kit! I’m here for it! Now I can use it on my platform!!!
This is set to be our April Book Club. The kit was a great addition. Our library plans to buy 4 copies
I downloaded this to read along with my copy once it arrived. Just at a glance I already love how fun and useful it will be. I’m a big fan of playlists too so that section made me exceptionally happy!
Thanks so much We Are Bookish and NetGalley for the download.
This is an excellent resource! I just got the book and am hoping this will be our next book club pick so I can utilize this kit. I haven’t looked through the whole thing (to avoid spoilers) but it looks very well put together and I’ll update once I use it. Thanks for putting this together!
Such a great book club kit. Very well formatted and amazing topics for discussion, thank you so much for providing this kit.
Thoroughly enjoyed the book and when I saw the Book Club Kit, I had to get it. If your book club is reading this book, then this kit will help you prepare a fun and immersive experience for your group. The author interview gives you a little behind the scenes about writing the book and characters. There is a content warning about the challenging topics in this story. There is a good selection of discussion questions. I haven't tried them yet, but there were cocktail and food suggestions that pair nicely with the 1920s. There are several specialty, book cover themed bookmarks you can print out for your meeting. I was nicely surprised by the suggestions to create a 1920s themed experience from dress to dancing to speakeasy ambiance. The author created a fantastic playlist with 12 songs of the era that you can play on Spotify. There were also suggestions about What to Read Next. I would agree that Wild Women and the Blues by Denny S. Bryce pairs nicely with this book for 1920s Chicago and The House of Eve by Sadeqa Johnson pairs nicely to explore the class divides and the Black elite in 1950s Washington, DC.
If you are planning to read The Mayor of Maxwell Street with your book club, I would highly recommend this kit to enhance and enrich your experience discussing this amazing book.
