I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The guide is spread out monthly over a year which was a nice surprise as it helps break up the information and increases the likelihood of the reader forming the habit (since it takes 66 days to form a habit on average). I thought that presenting offline heroes is a great idea to help promote digital health to kids more, especially using people they may look up to like Billie Eilish as well as those who did amazing things like The Everest Twins. I liked the monthly checklist and the exercises throughout as well as the sketches provided.
Thank you, Tanya Goodin for creating such an important book. As a mother of a teenager, I am going to purchase this at the earliest opportunity. Split into months, it takes the reader on a journey of explaining how to find a balance in the digital world. I loved the journal style pages where the reader can set goals, log information and record success. This is a powerful and informative book. Thank you!
Thank you for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
In my opinion this easily digestible, informative and non judgmental guide for teens should be in every school library. It’s practical and interesting, I particularly enjoyed the Offline Hero sections, reading about these inspirational young people gladdened my heart. I learnt things from it too, almost ashamed to say I had not encountered the term ‘clicktivism’ and the section on mental health and the inadvisability of doom scrolling hit home hard.
As a Mum to a tween age girl, I've found navigating through this part of her life really challenging, especially with the challenges of whatsapp, snapchat and roblox! this guide is full of hints and tips to encourage a healthy relationship with technology and hopefully protect our children's mental health.
This was a fantastic books for teens in how to manage their digital lives and there are even tips some of us older “teenagers” can utilize as welll. ;) great guide. Highly recommend
Thankyou to Netgalley and Collins Reference, Collins for a free e-arc in exchange of an honest review.
This book appear to be very interactive with lots of activities for the reader to engage with to really get the fully benefit of it. I think teenagers could find this book very beneficial even in just to see that there is more to themselves and the world than being on their their phones- Its incredibly important to educate teens to know when they need a bit of an online detox or a break from the internet for their own wellbeing.
The formatting of the digital e-book didnt necessarily work well all the time on kindle paperwhite or kindle scribe however when it is out i would definitely consider buying a digital copy to encorporate some of the strategies into my work in school as an ELSA (Emotional Literacy)
