I'm sorry, I read this ages ago and was sure I'd done the review already.
This was a solid police proceduraly/thriller with a well-developed storyline made overly complicated by the enormous cast of sharacters, many of whom were referred to by different names through the book - for example, most of the police character were called by both their first names and their surnames at different times, and some had nicknames too. This made it really hard to follow the characters in an otherwise engaging story. I'd look out for the author's first books in the series.

I couldn't get into this book, the third in a series. I just couldn't connect with the characters and sadly I stopped reading it. Something I hate doing.

The Kill List by Nadine Matheson is an absolutely gripping crime suspense and one that I just could not put down. It is part of the Inspector Anjelica Henley series but can be read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed meeting up with familiar faces.
Once more Nadine Matheson has constructed a marvellous plotline. The whole novel is extremely well thought out and executed. The story is complex, and Nadine Matheson has an eye for detail as she draws the reader into a world of crime.
All of the characters were well drawn. The police officers are relentless in their pursuit of justice – whether it’s a bent copper, a serial killer or a miscarriage of justice – no stone is left unturned.
Cold case crimes from 1995 and 1996 are resurrected in present day as a kill list appears. Is it a copycat killer? Or has the killer remained dormant for nearly thirty years? The police and the reader must seek out the truth as the killer walks amongst them.
Nadine Matheson creates realistic characters. The police officers all have home lives that are often less than perfect. There is a tension as the job is not 9 to 5 and therefore disrupts home lives. All the characters are well rounded and believable.
We see the hubris in some of the characters – especially a female reporter who seems to enjoy the attention that the Burier (as she named him) gives her, until it all becomes a little too close to home.
Nadine Matheson always writes novels that draw the reader in, as we are glued and guessing as to who the perpetrator is.
The Kill List would make a marvellous movie – but I am not sure I would be brave enough to watch it! This is a fabulous book, as always.
I received a free copy from the publishers. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

I love police procedurals, I love serial killers (in books!), I love delving into the past and I love Nadine Matheson's series about DI Henley :)
As good as, if not better than, the first two in the series. I love getting to know more and more about Angelica, especially now that we get to visit her in her past in this book.
A cracking read - you'll not want to put this one down.

This is the third in the series but the only one I have read.
Streeter was convicted of five murders 25yr ago and he always said he was innocent and he told DI Anjelica Henley on her visit to the prison as he requested that her old boss DCI Rhimes was accused of corruption, so she starts to investigate and his conviction is overturned and Anjelica is out to find out who was the real killer and to find her old boss innocent.
The story was a bit graphic for me and the names had me confused at times, though getting to know the personal life of the police was interesting.
Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the ARC and I give my honest review.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I like this series and really enjoyed the latest instalment. The police corruption angle was well explored

Although this is the third book in this series involving DI Anjelica Henley, I hadn’t read either of the previous ones. It really didn’t matter as I quickly engaged with the characters in Henley’s team. Twenty five years before, when teenagers, Henley’s best friend Melissa was murdered. Andrew Streeter was eventually caught and charged with not only her murder but that of four other young people. Fast forward to the present day and Streeter, who always protested his innocence, is now saying that the original investigation was corrupt. The arresting officer DCI Rhimes was Henley’s friend and mentor before his recent death. Henley is in a difficult position as the case is reopened, desperately hoping that Rhimes was not corrupt but determined to be completely professional amid the resurrection of bad memories of the murder of her friend. A complex story that weaves the past into the present and as a new Kill List begins it is a race against time before the body count increases further. A gritty thriller that never lets up in its intensity or complexity. With fear pouring from every chapter this is a gruesome and disturbing story that is a genuine page turner. The final page indicates there is more to come and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

The Kill List is the third book in the Inspector Henley thriller series by Nadine Matheson.
In short, Andrew Streeter was convicted 25 years ago of kidnapping, raping and murdering 5 innocent people, now new evidence implies the original investigation was corrupt. No one is more shocked than DI Henley because the arresting officer was her old, well respected boss and he’s no longer alive to defend himself and it would seem the real killer is still out there and he’s working through a new kill list!
Another exciting, tense, character driven and unpredictable thriller. This is such a good series I simply devoured it and the ending suggests there’s more to be revealed and I’m really looking forward to finding out what Henley discovers!
Big thanks to Nadine Matheson, HQ and NetGalley for this eARC which I chose to read in return for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this outing a lot with the team. Highly recommend this series and cannot wait for the next installment. This one had great twists and turns. Overall a fantastic addition to the series.

I haven't read the first two books in this series. I didn't notice it was part of a series until I wrote this review. The book served well as a read alone. I struggled to get to grips with who all the characters were to start with but that would've probably been clearer had I read the two previous books.
The story was good and led on an interesting chase to catch the real killer before more people got hurt. I felt like the outcome wasn't as much of a twist as it was intended to be and had already worked out who the killer was.
I really enjoyed this book, but the ending hasn't stayed with me in the way similar books have. I really enjoy reading books by this author, and they are always gripping as this one is, I just felt the ending wasn't as impactful as I was hoping.

This is the third book in the DI Anjelica Henley series and it is another smasher.
The cases come in thick and fast for the Serious Crime Unit. When Andrew Streeter’s murder conviction is overturned and DCI Harry Rhimes is accused of corruption, the team is thrown into chaos. The murders need reinvestigating, and after 25 years, this is not going to be easy. They also need to investigate Rhimes and put their personal feelings for their former leader and mentor aside.
Things are further complicated by the fact that Anjelica Henley was a witness for the original prosecution as one of the murder victims was her childhood best friend. For Henley this case is intensely personal.
I love this series. The crimes are pretty brutal and there are lots of deliciously dark details that are not for the faint hearted, but certainly add to the realism. The investigations are meticulous and every clue is followed even when it leads no where.
For me, the best part of the book is the characters and their dynamics. The investigative team are flawed and complex people. Professionally they compliment each other and are close.
The book sets up a new investigation as Henley has a lot of unanswered questions about Rhines and his death. She also has to sort out her personal life which is falling apart.
I will definitely be reading the next book when it is published. Thank you to NetGalley for the gifted digital copy of The Kill List.

DI Anjelica Henley of the Serial Crime Unit is back with her team in the third instalment of this fantastic series. This time they are investigating a case of corruption and a wrongful imprisonment years after it occurred. Will they discover one of their own was part of the corruption years ago and put personal feelings aside?
This was another great addition to the series and I found the storyline really interesting; I was fully invested throughout the whole book. I loved catching up with the characters, as they seem so authentic and it is easy to build a connection with them. I feel these characters (and the series in general) are some of the best out of all the other available detective novels.
I was desperately turning the pages trying to work out who was responsible and if there was corruption involved. The storyline is very dark, gritty and complex, which adds suspense and intrigue. The author’s writing style is very enjoyable and I like how she manages to include the easy banter between the team. This was definitely another hit that I’ll be recommending - I can’t wait for the next one! 4.5stars. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

Breaks my heart to say it but DNF @ 38%.
I really really enjoyed the first two books in this series and have been waiting patiently for this book since I finished The Binding Room just after it was released. I'm not sure if it's because there was so much of a wait for this book but I just didn't feel connected to characters anymore and the story of this one wasn't interesting enough to keep me pushing through.

Loved it as I have with every book in the series - already looking forward to the next one. Nadine is a star!

This dark serial killer book was so good I just couldn’t put it down! It was twists and shocks from the very beginning. It’s dark, twisty and exciting and I absolutely can’t wait to read more from this series!

Loved it! Kept me interested until the end. Loved the relationship between Henley and her team, very relatable. Didn't realise it was a series so now going back to read the first two. The ending! Please tell me there will be another I need to know what happened!
Thanks

The Kill List is the third book in the Inspector Angelica Henley series and another fantastic read by the author and you can read it as a standalone.
The SCU is on a hunt for a serial killer after the man who has been in castrated and accused of killing 5 women 25 years ago was acquitted after some further DNA was found. But was murdered on the same day.
The serial killer seems to have started killing again, as a body is found with the mouth sewn up. But when they untie it, they find a list in their mouth of people have died and going to be next.
We also learn and their personal lives and the effect that working for the Police has a detrimental effect on each SCU team members relationships.
This is a dark tense gripping read, with some red herrings along the way. I enjoyed this for the most part, but for me found the storyline far too long 4 stars from me.

DI Henley is back looking into serial killings supposedly carried out by Andrew Streeter. He’s been in prison for 25 years but suffering from cancer and he wants the task killer to be found. He’s always proclaimed his innocence. There’s also the story about Rhimes, Henley’s old boss who supposedly killed himself, The story is so well put together the pages just keep turning. And the ending wow!! What a cliff hanger. It’s hard to write much about it without giving the story away. But I loved it.

WOW WOW WOW!
Fast paced and addictive. I couldn't put it down until I finished reading it.
The Kill List is an absolute page turner. Dark with plenty of tension.
This is book # 3 of the DI Angelica Henley series, but can be read as a stand alone. Needless to say, I immediately added the books THE BINDING ROOM and THE JIGSAW MAN to my TBR.
Nadine Matheson has an impressive writing style and draws you deeply into the story. DI Henley is a strong, relatable female lead detective and I soon got a hang of her and her team at the Serial Crimes Unit.
A fantastic, well crafted 5 star read and if you love your police procedurals on the grittier and more gruesome end of the spectrum, then this one is definitely for you.
Thank you, @netgalley, @hqstories and @queennads for the advanced reading copy of this book.
Nadine Matherson is now a must buy author for me and I am eagerly awaiting book #4 of this series.

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC.
This was just brilliant. The third visit to DI Henley and the team. It was like catching up with old friends. Really fast paced and I couldn't put it down.
Twenty five years ago DCI Rhimes arrested and sent to prison Andrew Streeter AKA the Burier mainly due to the fact his kill list was found in his home.
Fast forward twenty five years and Streeter's conviction is now under review. Is he really innocent and is Rhimes really dirty? As the team try to figure it out The Burier starts a new kill list. While investigations continue into the past and present cases and the team deal with personal problems the twists and turns keep coming. Can't wait for instalment four.
Could be a standalone but the previous books set the scene for the personal relationships. Highly recommended.
