This was a cutesy little romance but missed the mark for me. It seemed a little young adult and was somewhat of an unhealthy/toxic relationship that made it hard for me to get theough

this was a nice and simple read! i liked the way the story was written and getting those flashbacks of the characters pasts were cool! it was perhaps a little too push and pull for me, a little too hot and cold and a few too many arguments. i think perhaps the characters were just a little too young for me! for the right demographic i think this would be successful :)

I was beyond excited to read this one, it has the perfect setup for my favourite kind of book - childhood best friends to lovers AND a dual timeline. Although the story had all of these elements, these characters were so back and forth on each other for so long that the story began to drag for me. After so many arguments, sometimes about the same things, it was one final argument and another excuse for the two not to be together that I became annoyed and couldn't finish it. I stopped reading at about 65% - not enough was progressing in their relationship for me to believe that they would last together. Despite these downfalls, I do think that I would read another story by this author in the future. The writing was good, it was just the events of the story that I wasn't happy with.

This book captures the ups and downs of first love with a dual timeline that effectively showcases the challenges and emotions of teenage relationships. While the story is a cute and fun read with well-developed characters, the miscommunications and exaggerated drama—particularly around a two-year age gap—made the romance feel unnecessarily toxic at times. Sophie’s indecisiveness and hot-and-cold behavior toward Cooper became frustrating, making it hard to root for their relationship. Though it didn’t fully work for me, fans of the friends-to-lovers trope and coming-of-age stories may still enjoy it. Three stars. Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher, for the ARC!

I love a good Rom-Com and this one did not disappoint. It had me thinking back to my own first love.
I normally don't like reading dual timelines but this was really good.
If you looking for a good quick read, I recommend give this one a try.

I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.

Oh to remember the first love. I truly love that this book had me reminiscing on my own! I love the friends to lovers trope dearly, but felt that all of the miscommunication in this book really led to some toxic moments.
The dual timelines were done amazingly well, I truly was impressed, and found myself loving them. The characters also developed nicely which was great to see.
The writing was really simple, and the short chapters made this a really quick and fun read.
Thank you to Tisa Matthews and NetGalley for this advanced reader copy. All opinions were my own.

Book Review 📚
Can We Just Be Happy Now? By Tisa Matthews 🫶🏻
3/5 ⭐
The main journey undertaken in this book is a quest for happiness and contentment. The book itself involves themes of self-discovery, personal growth and thought-provoking complexities of the human emotions.
I thoroughly enjoyed Matthews writing style, she easily put across the real-life struggles and problems of nearly every person out there. The whole structure of the book makes it easy to follow with each chapter focusing on different aspects of finding happiness. The whole vide is “self-help” for the reader to implement positive changes within their life.
But that’s not to say there aren’t any disadvantages to the book. Lets start with pacing, it was quiet uneven at times and there was even repetitiveness which for me made it slow and boring. The repetitiveness takes away from the overall vibe and made it 3 stars for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and publishing company for allowing to read this book in exchange for a honest review.

This was a fun and sweet read with a friends to lovers romance. The main characters were delightful and you can't help but root for them.

I .hate givinga a books a little stars rating, but what can I say I just didn't feel this one.
I didn't connect to the MCs, to the storyline.
It was cute, but not for me.
3 stars

This was a cute and fun read about first love. I enjoyed it and definitely recommend it to fans of the friends to lovers trope!

There’s a lot of angst, and god do the main character make you infuriated, but you cannot help but love them.!
It’s of ups and downs and tears. I haven’t read many first love romances so this was one I really enjoyed. Many compare it to magnolia parks and I can see the vision. It was a fun entertaining read however the miscommunication trope never fails to
Rile me up. I saw people say it gave right person wrong time vibes and I whole heartedly agree.
I love both mcs with all my heart. It was such a fast read, very well written, cannot recommend it enough.

First love is always a strong one and this book proves that. It is about childhood besties and what they have to overcome to give themselves a chance. It is definitely full of ups and downs and some tears may be shed!
It’s a great read but be warned there is miscommunication and right person wrong time vibes and I know that’s not for everyone. I personally really enjoyed this one.

PHEW. these two are so infuriating.
The first love tie up - the one you’d do anything for even if it’s giving toxic.
I really hated both of these MCs during 80% of the book, they both made stupid choices and were too concerned about what everyone around them thought than following what they wanted.
I feel like this is definitely a good representation of young, teenage love. They’re confused, second guessing, toxic, and act a lot on jealousy.
While the characters drove me crazy, i didn’t hate it and quite enjoyed how it ended up wrapping up.

It is a fun and nice read with developed characters.
We see all the good and bad things of dating as teenagers: crazy decisions, self sabotage.
We see best friends Sophie and Cooper who discover something more than friendship.
Falling in love is easy but keeping it is hard work, you have to be vulnerable, forgive, compromise, ...

This book hooked me in from the first chapter. I loved the character development and how the story progressed.

Sophie and Cooper are best friend since forever. But everything changes at her sixteenth birthday. They start dating until she broke up with him. They date and breakup multiple time. But one day they’re ready to be together.
Until 48% I was so deep in the book. I found them so cute and sweet and heartbreaking. But after… I hates Sophie. How she claimed Cooper is “it” for her and still keep hurting him.
It was too back and forth for me.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was a cute read that held my attention. The characters stole my heart from the beginning. 10/10 would recommend!

I had a very hard time getting into this book.

This was a very well written book. The characters were definitely frustrating and there were times I wished I could just shake them, but the story was still very well written. The style was unique, though I struggled slightly just because I do not often look at chapter titles, but each chapter could be from a different POV and from a different point of life. This did make the book very interesting; it had sort of a similar feeling to the musical "The Last Five Years". Overall, it was a good read.
