A sweet, if very conveniently wrapped up, story about a couple who end up swapping bodies, gaining previously unrealised perspectives on each other's lives.

“If I Were You” is a body swap story featuring couple Amy and Flynn. They’ve been together two years and are seemingly loved up. But recently things in both of their pasts have been affecting their relationship and cracks are starting to appear. On their way to Amy’s sister’s wedding, they have a huge row in the middle of a thunderstorm, get struck by lightning and end up in each other’s bodies. Will their new perspectives cause utter chaos at the wedding? Or will it give them an insight into each other and their relationship?
The answer to the first question is a big yes! But you’ll have to read the book for an answer to the second question. It’s an entertaining story and some very perceptive points are made on what is expected of men and women. And while I felt some of the plot became a bit repetitive, overall I enjoyed it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

When a freak accident has Amy and Flynn suddenly switching bodies on the way to a family wedding, chaos is bound to happen. Amy and Flynn were having difficulties opening up to each other in their relationship. Once they had to live in each other's bodies they discovered so much about each other. There are plenty of crazy moments as they find out what it is like to be the opposite gender in society and how they are treated. Plus the different roles with family and friends. The story is good, however it is very confusing knowing who is talking to who at which time. Is it someone talking to Amy in Flynns body, and is it actual Flynn answering, or Amy as Flynn, for example? Otherwise some good characters, and interesting back stories. A nice satisfying ending to finish.

A hilarious story like The Change Up. Very easy and comical read.
Thank you NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC

Amy and Flynn are proof that opposites attract and for a while their romance made sense. But when Flynn suggests them living together, Amy begins to have serious doubts about their future. Flynn is lovely, she just doesn't know him on as deep a level as she would like to.
Tensions rise as they head off to her sister's wedding and a storm throws a very large spanner in the works.
How are they going to get through the weekend of wedding events when they're just not feeling themselves.
As the past catches up, it feels like they've reached their breaking point. Or will it force them to see things from one another's perspective?
There was a lot to like and I thought the concept was a really interesting one. It just left me wanting something and I didn't connect with the characters as much as I'd like to.

I really liked the concept of a romantic body swap but for me this didn't hit the mark.
Miscommunication is one of my least favourite tropes and it was everywhere in this story. I also really struggled to keep track of who out of Amy and Flynn was talking at times. It made it hard for me to warm to either of them.
I think the set up of this story is great and I feel it would actually work better as a movie than a book. Cesca Major is a great author, I look forward to reading what she writes next.
With thanks to HarperCollins and Netgalley for the ARC.

Oh this was fun. A body swap romance!
Amy and Flynn have different ideas about where their relationship is going and haven’t told each other everything about themselves. What better way to get it all out in the open than to have a freak occurrence switch their bodies??
I loved Cesca Major’s last book, Maybe Next Time and thoroughly enjoyed this one too. Recommended for romance fans.

Brilliant! Not only is this book hilariously funny, it is also heart breaking sad.
Amy and Flynn are off to Amy’s sister’s wedding when they find they have swapped bodies! As you can imagine what follows is awkward, hilarious and lots of fun to read. Secrets and skeletons keep coming out of the woodwork and Amy and Flynn have to navigate this as each other….what could possibly go wrong?!
A brilliant tale of how seeing things from another perspective can really help! Being able to stand outside of ourselves can help us see the truth. It can also get us in some precarious situations!
Hilarious and down to earth despite the far fetched premise. I loved the is tale and was engrossed throughout.

Another wonderful speculative by Cesca. I love her writing so much. So easy to read. Major will always be a 5star read for me!!

I had fun and thoroughly enjoyed this well written and well plotted story.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Thanks to Netgalley and Harper Collins for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
OMG absolutely loved this, thankfully not as much of an emotional wreck as I was after reading Maybe Next Time but just as thought provokingly written.
Amy and Flynn love each other but don’t understand each other’s choices, on their way to her sisters wedding they are struck by lightning changing both their perspectives and giving each other an idea of what it’s like to be them!
An unusually insightful way of experiencing life in each other’s shoes!
Relatable feelings, emotions and reconciliations.
Great warm feels reading this book!

Cesca never fails to write novels that move me, and If I Were You is no exception. A clever and funny concept - think Big (the 1980s movie), but a proper love story without the ick or inappropriate age difference - it's funny, romantic and emotional, with a joyfully satisfying ending.

Amy and Flynn have been together for two years, with communication starting to breakdown and both feeling massively misunderstood, they are forced to muddle through and pretend to be happy for Amy’s older sister’s wedding. However, on route they end getting struck by lightning and switching bodies.
What ensues is a little bit of chaos, and a lot of hilarity as they try to navigate being each other at one of the most important events. As things reach a breaking point, both Amy and Flynn have to face some home truths about themselves and each other.
Great characters, good plot, and some really funny moments. Beneath that though it is a thought-provoking book, and an easy read.
4 Stars.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wasnt sure what this one was going to be like, so i was intrigued.
A flipped identity story. Flynn and Amy seem to be viewing their relationship from entirely different viewpoints.
It's been two years, and he is smitten. He wants to take the next steps with the woman who feels like she can give him all he has craved for his whole life. Amy isn't sure because she doesn't feel the right vibe of commitment coming from him since he rarely opens up about his own life to her.
Something happens when they are struck with lightning. They are horrified when they realise they have swapped bodies and are on their way to Amy's sister's wedding, where a whole heap of other complications are set to arise.
A bit of forced-proximity always helps a relationship along, doesn't it?
The story highlights the importance of openness and communication within relationships and how a little white lie, or even a failure to mention certain details, can mess things up, as misunderstandings are borne from miscommunication. Such a good read, enjoy.

I loved Maybe Next Time by Cesa so I was excited to get the opportunity to read If I Were You.
A hilarous romantic body swap, I loved it. Any and Flynn are on their way to Amy's sisters wedding when they are struck by lightning and end up in eachother's bodies. Amy and Flyn are fantastic characters.
Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for the eARC.

Entertaining romantic body swap comedy with Amy and her partner Finn en route to her sister’s wedding. This is made to be dramatised!

Amy and Flynn are en route to her sister’s wedding when a lightning strike causes them to switch bodies
It’s a Freaky Friday kind of novel - a fun concept with great characters and lots of heart
It was also a very emotional read as both main characters are dealing with grief in different ways
Thanks @cescamajor @harperfiction & @netgalley for the fun but emotional read

This was a simple, fun, easy and quick read. The perfect type of book for your holiday, beach, pool kind of read. This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and I would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.
3.5/5.
