Wow, I’ve never read anything like this before. Of course I’ve watched shows and films that have body swap storylines but never read it in a novel. To begin with it was confusing, possibly my brain expecting the norm ? but it soon clicked and what followed was a very interesting read. Very cleverly written and enjoyable

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for an ARC in return for an honest review.
The idea of a body swap story greatly intrigued me but at first I found it very confusing, just like the characters themselves who kept addressing each other with their real names and getting their pronouns wrong in front of other people.
Amy and Flynn have been in a relationship for two years but lately they have experienced a disconnect with each other. Amy is thinking about dumping Flynn while Flynn wants to fix things with a marriage proposal. They are en route to Amy's sister Laura's wedding when lightning strikes them and causes the body swap. This brings about all manners of difficulties - Flynn can't do the dance rehearsed by the bridesmaids and Amy is not good at tennis at all.
It is very interesting how even in a modern society the roles are very clearly defined - men do sports, women do spas. Men wallow in whiskey, women in bubble baths. Men fight and use their fists, women cry. And when the roles seem reversed, people get confused. Amy gets punched in Flynn's body, Flynn gets patronised in Amy's body. They have a constant struggle with not derailing the wedding, especially as they keep learning secrets about each other from their respective friends.
This is a dual POV story with frequent flashbacks, which are necessary to tell the story but take some getting used to, especially when we're hopping from Amy's past to Flynn's present, and vice versa. At the beginning I wasn't sure I could cope, then the story drew me in. This isn't a slapstick story, it's about serious topics to do with parents, childhoods and family relationships, and how they influence future relationships.
The characters were relatable and the story fast-paced, with a lovely ending - I read this in a day.
4.5 stars

I loved the idea of this. I've seen films with a body swap storyline but never read a book like that.
Initially, it was hard to get my head around, and I did keep getting confused, but once I'd sussed it out lol I really enjoyed it.
The characters were realistic and likeable, and it was easy to relate to how they were feeling emotionally.
I'd definitely recommend it to others. Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my own honest review.

What a thought provoking five-star read. This is one of those stories that you enjoy as you read, but its once you have finished and really think it all through you realise just how much it makes you stop and think, do you judge based on someone else’s opinion, are you quick to judge over something that doesn’t really matter. This author wrote one of my favourite books last year, so I had high hopes for this one, and I was having a wobble at first, as I wondered where they were going to go, but then as the story unfolded and you see Amy and Flynn as they see each other as well as themselves and I mean who wouldn’t want to really see ourselves from the outside, I would have every item of my wardrobe out to see what I looked best in!! This was such a great story, you get swept up in it, imagining the colour of the flamingos and just enjoying the whole experience. Pick up this story if you are looking for something to entertain you and something to make you stop and think.

A very enjoyable book that i won’t hesitate to recommend to others. Thanks for the opportunity to read & review it.

Fast paced, cleverly plotted and full of embarrassing humour. I really enjoyed following Amy and Flynn's romantic journey. I love a body swap premise and their vivacious characters combined their evident chemistry really made the idea work.

I enjoyed this overall, body swap's are a favourite of mine. I found it easy and pleasant to read and warmed to Amy and Flynn.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. Having really enjoyed Major's previous book, I was looking forward to this. Unfortunately, 'If I Were You' missed the mark. Although the plot was great, I found Amy and Flynn to be very unlikeable and the dual narrative was written in a way which made it hard to tell who was who. The story did pick up for the last part of the book.

I liked the premise of this book and I think it worked quite well, but it has to be said wasn't overly keen on Amy's charecter to start with but warmed to her in the end, a nice fluffy read

'If I Were You' is a glorious, entertaining read by Major. This was an easy to read, light-hearted read that provided a lot of humour and fun, Major does tackle some more serious subjects as well and these were integral to the plot. The blurb does not give much away about the plot so I will not do so either, however it is unique, interesting and provides plenty of laughs and awkward moments.
The characters really made this for me, Amy and Flynn are likable, believable and I wanted them to be together, meaning I was rooting for them throughout. They really made the plot feel special and that I was reading about people that I knew.
The book is fast paced and events occur over a short time span which only adds to the sense of fast paced and action. I thoroughly enjoyed this read.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for an advance copy.

I loath body swap stories - clearly I’m of the minority as there are numerous best selling films with that theme.
Had it been clear from the synopsis that this was the theme, I would have not requested it… that said, this book is funny and touching as Amy and Flynn deal with their swapped lives, facing some embarrassing moments and rediscovering their connection.
It’s an engaging plot with relatable characters that left me smiling, the moral of my story - sometimes it’s best to go in blind and see how the story plays out!

This the second book I've read by this author and again the story plays with reality and what people think they know. In this story it is Amy and Flynn who exchange bodies after a lightning strike as they are on their way to Laura's very posh wedding. Being in each other's bodies gives them opportunity to explore their feelings and get over their differences. Naturally the fact that Amy looks like Flynn and visa versa gives rise to some embarrassing situations given that Amy is a bridesmaid and Flynn finds an old flame is a guest.
This a light hearted quick read that keeps the story moving along. I did have some trouble following who was who at times - it would very much easier as a film - and, well, the ending was never going to be anything that what it is - happy.
I didn't enjoy this as much as I enjoyed "Maybe Next Time" which had a cleverer premise to my mind but it was still an enjoyable read.
With thanks to Netgalley and Harper Collins UK, HarperFiction for an arc copy in return for an honest review.

The story is very gripping and wow the ending is a big surprise. I thoroughly recommend this book, another thrilling and enjoyable read by this talented author

A light hearted read which is both amusing and emotional. Amy and Flynn end up body swapping after they are simultaneously struck by lightning on the way to Amy's sister's wedding.

I enjoyed this book, although it could feel a bit disjointed at times with the “swapping” but it was engrossing enough to finish and enjoy.

Light, entertaining, well written. The topic is definitely not new and the book doesn’t add anything that hasn’t already been said or done, but overall the story is catching. I found the author manages to match Amy and Flynn’s voices to their bodies quite masterfully, considering there’s no help from the screen, although I didn’t find it easy to follow who was who at times. The ending, like the whole book, is a bit predictable. I thought it’d make a good film when I discovered it’s already been optioned!
Thank you to Harper Collins UK, HarperFiction, Netgalley and the author for an early copy.

I loved the concept of this book, and was quickly engrossed in the main characters. I thought that the “swapping” developed well throughout the book.
It was a touching and memorable read and another great book by this fabulous author.

Amy and Flynn are on their way to her sister's wedding. They've been together for a while but are currently not even in the same book let alone the same page. Cue an external force that ends up causing them to switch bodies. Why has this happened? Will there be able to fix the miscommunication that is causing a rift between them? Will they be able to get back to their own bodies?
This is the perfect book for a holiday read or if you are looking for something a little light. It was funny and had a great range of personalities through the side characters which really helped to flesh the novel out. It tugged at my heartstrings and got me really rooting for Amy and Flynn to find their way back to each other. I won't tell you if they did or not. 🤐

Although an interesting read, I found it difficult at times to keep up with who was speaking and when. I can't go in to too much detail without spoiling the story, but once you start to read I think you will understand what I mean.
The actual storyline between the two main characters is good, showing their love, seeing them realise what they might lose and also seeing themselves from another point of view means this story has depth. This makes the characters easy to interact with.
The formatting on the kindle wasn't great, with the author name and book title popping up in random places, but I imagine this will be sorted when the book is officially published.
Overall a 4 star for me, didn't enjoy it quite as much as the last Cesca Major story, but it was still a good, if not confusing, read.

I can't help but love a good old body swap trope and wasn't surprised to read that this has been picked up to be turned in to a feature length film.
Flynn and Amy are on their way to her sister's wedding when lightening strokes and they find themselves in each others bodies. What could possibly go wrong?
Likeable characters, self discovery and a side of deep rooted scars from their younger years. A fantastical read. Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this.
