Escapism in Venice. Three quite different women are in Venice. One works in a hotel, one is a movie star’s PA,, the other an opera diva. Their lives entwine in this magical city, starting at the Carnavale, where everyone is masked. Who was the charismatic man at the Carnavale? Which two women have an unexpected connection? Which woman watched someone fall to their death and did not report it? The descriptions of Venice are so vivid you almost feel you're there. Another enjoyable book by Carol Kirkwood.

Yet another great book by Carol Kirkwood. I felt that I was there in Venice with them all. Carol had intertwined the different parts of the story so well and then tied them up neatly at the end. I dint read romance stories but this was once again a great story that did have romance in it . I thought that Gina was such a highly efficient concierge and I could feel some of the issues that she had. At the same time the other main characters Marco, Brad and Lucia all had differing characters that gave a full complement to the story.
The story starts 10 years before the main story but all was revealed at the end.

Gina is head concierge at the White Palace in Venice. She makes sure all her guests have everything that they require and more. She is also running away from her past, but is it about to catch up with her?
Lucia de Santis is an opera singer who is also a diva. Both come from the same village in Cannegia. Is she going to make trouble for Gina?
The famous movie star Brad Redford is staying at the hotel while he films his latest blockbuster. His stunt double, Marco lost his wife in an accident, but his brother-in-law blamed him for her death.
I love Carol's writing. She literally brings Venice to life as she describes the Carnivale and the historic buildings. I loved that it was set in winter, so we get a different perspective of the setting.
The different stories were cleverly intertwined, and I loved how it was all tied up. It didn't feel rushed, and each character had a happy ending.
Thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins UK for the ARC in return for an honest review.

Gina Bellini is head concierge at an exclusive hotel in Venice. On the firs tnight of Carnivale, she meets a man and has an instant spark with him. As she is hurrying back to get the boat to the hotel, she loses him and is unable to identify him as they were both wearing masks.
In the course of her job she meets Brad Redford, a well know movie star, and his stunt double for the Venice shoot Marco. Marco lives locally with his small daughter and works for a helicopter company owned by his father in law. Although Gina is drawn to him, she has a secret that caused her to come to Venice and struggles to get close to people because of it. Due to another guest at the hotel, opera diva, Lucia de Santis, who also hails from the same place as Gina, this is secret is primed to explode.
A nice readable story which intertwines several peoples' stories.

Gina is a hotel concierge at the most famous hotel in Venice. While dressed with a mask she meets a man in costume as well at the carnival. They seem to have a spark but then he disappears. There's loads of famous people at the carnival especially Brad Redford a famous movie star who's there to shoot a film. Lots of intrigue and wonderful descriptions of Venice. Carols books are always brilliant and this is no exception

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, which had be hooked. A story that was full of twists and turns.

We meet Gina, who works as a hotel manager at The White Palace in Venice which is a hotel the famous come to stay, and Gina does whatever she can in making their stay special.

Lucia arrives at the hotel, and when she sees Gina, she knows her from where they both grew up and later left.

She begins to make Gina do as she wants, otherwise she advises her that the secret she’s hiding from what happened all those years ago, won’t remain that.

We also meet Marco, who does stunts for actues, he meets Gina, and instantly falls for Gina. Brad is the actor who Marco does stunts for. Issy his assistant, is also hiding a secret.

I loved the setting, the descriptions and the characters.

I highly recommend this book.

Thank you for the opportuntity to read this book but I'm already so confused what the prologue has to do with the rest of the book. I was really excited to read this one but I hate prologues, or characters, that don't acutally connect to the other characters within the first few chapters.

A great story from the first pages I was gripped full of intrigue and twists. This follows Gina a hotel manager of The White Palace in Venice a luxurious hotel where nothing is too much trouble.
When opera sensation Lucia De Santis arrives a diva she recognises Gina from the village years ago where both she and Gina escaped from she makes demands or she will tell everyone what happened years ago. There is also Marco a stunt actor who falls for Gina and then there is Brad a actor with his assistant Issy who has a secret.
Loved the characters and Venice sounds lovely and the story follows each characters story with a dramatic wnding.
Carol has done it again a great story full of emotions and intrigue well done..
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
