As a fan of witty banter, an enemies-to-lovers trope and a good "Love Story" (see what I did there 😂) this one was definitely for me! And icing on the cake, its a romance about romance books. What could be better right?!

Sophie Taylor, teacher by day and a secret romance author in her spare time. Joe Walsh, works in publishing, thinks he know it all and to top it off, is annoyingly incredibly hot 🔥 and he knows it!

During a drunken moment, Sophie loses her laptop. The one with sequel to her latest book that everyone has been talking about and guess who may be just the person to help her?!

What's worse is when a trip back home to her family of high brow publishers to celebrate her fathers birthday sees her sharing a very intimate space with the last person she would care to!

A fun and light-hearted for lovers of a good rom-com!

Lindsey Kelk is definitely a favourite author ever since the Christmas Wish and Love Story definitely does not disappoint. The first thing to grab me was the title an ode to one of my favourite Taylor Swift Songs.

It centers around Sophie a school teacher who has written a best selling erotic novel under a pen name in which hardly anyone knows her real identity. Unfortunately she’s lost her laptop with the draft and notes for her second book and needs Joe’s help in getting it back.

Joe is one of those hotshot marketing directors and as you can guess it’s an enemies to lovers arc as well as a story of family expectations and weight.

The plot and flow moves fast and smoothly and the banter and humour is top notch, you will literally catch yourself laughing out loud a few times!

The only thing that let it down for me was the ending- it was fine just not enough for me.

I think this just wasn't for me. I liked the premise of it and there were some elements I enjoyed - honestly loved her little sister and I liked the plot of Sophie being an undercover bestselling author.
But I just couldn't stand the characters. I really didn't like the MMC at all - he was arrogant and rude. I was begging her to run. But also I didn't really like Sophie. It bothered me that she was unbelievably privileged but didn't acknowledge this at all. It just really grated me. I also felt like the pop culture references were way too overdone. I enjoy some references in a book but this was overkill. The romance is literature argument was interesting but nothing new. I wish she's cared as much about the inequality in the publishing industry as that.

I can tell you with certainty that I've found another of my favorite books of the year so far!!! And not just a book, but an author. I'd never read anything by her before, but I was completely won over.

I'll start by saying that this book is great for Taylor Swift fans thanks to the number of references made to the songs 🥹

In this book we meet Sophie who has used a pseudonym to write a hot book and Joe finds out. They start off as semi-enemies, but their chemistry is visible from the start. I can even say that this chemistry is brilliant.

What I can tell you is that this book reminds me of the rom-coms of 2000. It's really, really worth it and I just want to read all of the author's books!

Tropes you can expect in this book:
💕 enemies to lovers
💕 He falls first
💕 One bed only
💕 Books about books
💕 Forced proximity
💕 Slow Burn

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this copy.

Thank-you NetGalley for allowing me an ARC copy for this book.

I enjoyed reading this, following our characters through the story was great! I enjoyed the romcom elements of the book. The hidden spicy romance novel that was kept away from her family and all that followed was great. I had a good, fun time reading :)

I wanted to like this book so much but I couldn't get over how Charlotte went through Sophie's things multiple times. I just wanted actual romance not someone who's sister keeps stealing stuff and looking through her bag all the time.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Sophie hates Joe until she has to ask him for help after her laptop goes missing.

Another great read from Lisa,

What a lovely book! Really enjoyed it. I loved the witty humour, the dialogue and the setting! There aren’t enough books set in London / England. I love an enemies to lovers romance done right, and I think, Sophie had a very valid reason to hate Joe with some of the stupid things he said. But i loved the focus on how great romance novels are. it was so beautifully and heartwarmingly written. i will never feel silly for reading one again. Thank you!

When women support women, incredible things happen.

This quote just kept popping into my head while I read this book.

This book is a love letter. To women, to female authors, to readers - and I am here for it.

She’s a small-town schoolteacher.
He’s a hotshot marketing director.
Together, it’s hate at first sight.
Sophie Taylor has a secret and Joe Walsh thinks he knows it (all). He’s devilishly handsome, incredibly hot – and far too sure of himself.

Unfortunately, Sophie desperately needs his help. She has lost her laptop – and her sequel to the sensational, spicy romance that everybody’s talking about.

I loved the author addressing the literary snobbery that is just everywhere. Both online as well as in real life. These are sprinkled throughout the book so you don't feel as though you're being lectured. She has done it very well and I believe she gets her point across very well.
Especially when we discover that one of the reasons for Sophie keeping her writing success a secret from her parents is due to the fact that both parents are well known in the publishing world. Dad is an Editor and Mum is a kick-arse critic who can make or break books with a well written review - and mum, especially have made her feelings very clear on the kind of books that she believes is just lazy writing.
Charlotte however, the 18 year old little sister is obsessed with this book. She is a Book-Tokker and nothing but a spoilt brat. Honestly, I couldn't stand reading about her. Although I understand why her character is included, I could have managed without her.

There is lots of banter - not just between Sophie and Joe. I adored William, Sophie's big brother and agent and their close relationship and there are so many pop culture references that honestly had me squealing with delight when I spotted them.

I didn't love the ending - I felt as though it were a bit of a cop out and I've seen a few reviews where others would like either and epilogue or a follow up. I'd be happy to read another book with Sophie and Joe but I'm also happy not to.

I really, really liked this book and I hope that it's going to be a massive success. It certainly deserves to be.

I wanted to love this so much but unfortunately it wasn’t for me. The pop culture references felt very heavy handed and took me out of the story.

Thank you so much for sending me an advanced copy!

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read this book in exchange for a fair and full review.

Another success for Lindsey Kelk. I fell in love with each character and found myself rooting for them in any situation that was thrown at them. It was so sweet and endearing and some spice thrown in there as well.

This book is a well paced book that I feel as if I read this in a blink. It’s got great banter and chemistry. Sophie is a teacher but also a best-selling romance author under a pen name because she doesn’t want people in her real life knowing and being judged, especially by her parents. Sophie has written the second book on her laptop. This book also intrigued me because its about how romances are frowned upon which was an interesting perspective to the story.

Love Story - Lindsey Kelk

A really well paced book, with fantastic characters and a perfect plot for book lovers, I raced through it. It has been ages since I read a Lindsey Kelk book and I have decided that I really should read her backlog of books, I'm not sure why I stopped reading them. As well as the two main characters the author writes the side characters so well that they complement the story excellently. I particularly enjoyed Sophie's mums character as she changes so well throughout the book. Joe was the absolute perfect book boyfriend, with his own secrets to discover.

Thank you so much Harper Collins for the e-book in return for my honest thoughts and opinions.

I had a terrible reading slump in summer, and am way behind on my @netgalley shelf, so I’m trying to pick away at it with the aim of being up to date by the end of the year. Lindsey Kelkis a favourite author, so this was an easy pick.

Sophie is the secret author of the a best selling, spicy romance, with ‘Bookstagram /TikTok made me read it’ hype. Everyone is desperate to uncover author Este Cox, but Sophie is terrified of the reaction of her employers, and more importantly her literary snobbish parents, both working in the publishing industry.

A book about a book is always going to be a hit for me, throw in pop culture, an enemies to lovers relationship, and family dynamics and I’m hooked.

I enjoyed it and flew through it, thanks to netgalley and HarperCollins for the opportunity to read this fab, fun story.

I bought Lindsey Kelk’s newest book The Bell Witches recently and I’m looking forward to reading something complete different from her.

I am a fan of Lindsey Kelk's previous writing, with Love Me Do, but for some reason, I really couldn't get into Love Story. I think unfortunately it was a case of me vehemently disagreeing with one of the main plotlines, of Joe claiming the identity of Este, which may have had noble intentions behind it, but just rubbed me the wrong way.

Great romance book by a great author. Loved the story and plot line. The cover is beautiful and will definitely read from this author again

Sophie is an average middle child of famous parents. This, at least is the setup. We find out in the beginning itself that Sophie has written a huge bestseller ‘Butterflies’, a romance with more than a few open door scenes. This book however waits till almost the very end and has fewer scenes that I skim read than I’d expect.

The author of the famous book has chosen to remain anonymous, leaving a frenzy in her wake. It is at such a time that Sophie has to attend her father’s birthday bash. It is not an ordinary party, with a lot of hijinks planned and with a lot of unplanned chaos as well.

I felt like the weekend was a little longer than I would have liked, but the charges were well-fleshed out and flawed in a normal, believable way. I wish the friend was not named Sarah because I ever up getting confused in the flow of things more than once.

I am not going into more details or even into the romance at the centre of Sophie’s coming into her own because it works better in the flow offered by her author.

I would recommend this book to fans of the romance genre and especially to people who like reading books about characters who read and talk books.

I received an ARC thanks to Netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.

Lindsey Kelk is an auto buy author for me, I adore her books. They are light but with emotion, drama and characters you will fall in love with.
This may be my new favourite Kelk book. I loved the plot so much. A bestselling author who has hidden her career from everyone apart from her brother? This was a great premise expertly executed. The relationship between Sophie and Joe was so funny at times, but wonderful.
