The final instalment of a wonderful series. The One and Only books have brought our family great joy. Katherine Applegate has created fantastic characters.
The Only and Only Family is a full circle moment for the characters. We see Ivan living his best life in a wildlife sanctuary. With a family of his own on the way, he reflects on his early years, with slight trepidation for what fatherhood will bring.
Our other favourite characters are there for the journey too. A must read for The One and Only Fans.

The conclusion of the One and Only Ivan series was truly captivating and heartfelt. I have been eagerly sharing these books with my students annually, and the release of this latest installment was a source of great excitement for me. Having the privilege of reading it prior to its official launch has filled me with gratitude, and I am looking forward to expressing my thoughts about it across all of my platforms.

I like the essence of this, Ivan, the gorilla and his family having a voice and telling their story.
This is a clear to understand story written from the POV of Ivan as a dad. It is heartfelt, sad, thoughtful, life-affirming.
Can be read as a stand alone tale without reading the other books in the series but best cherished as a finale. I enjoyed Ivan’s honesty about his newfound role. If children will grasp the wit and the tenderness of Ivan’s perspective is something that I am wondering. I will need to reread this with my child.
