I really enjoyed this book, I love a "slice of life" look at people's lives and this year long journey with Ginny was great to read. But, I did have some qualms.

I didn't gel with Celeste, Ginny and Toni's mother, at all. Anyone who names their children Gin and Tonic has a dangerous relationship with alcohol, and it wasn't the quirky, funny thing I think the book tried to portray. I found Celeste to be narcissistic and controlling, and found it hard to see why her daughters were so adamant to harness a relationship with her.

There were too many potential soulmates fro Ginny for me to get truly invested, and to be honest I didn't love who it was she ended up with. With how their interactions had been written in the course of the book, I would have preferred nothing romantic happened between them.

I love Lucy Vine's books as they are filled with humour and fun. This is a light read and had those laugh out loud moments that you expect from Lucy's writing. A fun read and I look forward to reading her next book.

This was a really fun and enjoyable read. Ginny has been living with 3 predictions since her 16th birthday, and now she's about to 32 and maybe they're starting to come true.. no matter what she does! For her, life is settled but there's been this nagging doubt about these predictions and with her wedding a month ago she's showing a few nerves!

She wants a quiet wedding, but that's not possible with her celeb mum taking over the organising and as Ginny has always let people take over, has she got the nerve to speak up for herself and do what she wants?! I loved watching the progress of Ginny as she faced up to some fears, but found it wasn't all doom and gloom and she might actually enjoy being single and doing what SHE wants for a change.

There's lots of fun characters and I liked the friendships and the journey she went on as a character. An easy, fun read!

Thanks to Netgalley and the tagged publisher for my copy of Date with Destiny by Lucy Vine.

In this captivating book, we accompany Ginny, who has been receiving predictions from a fortune teller since the age of 16 for when she turns 32. Finally, that fateful year has arrived. Will all the predictions unfold as foretold, or are they mere fabrications? Although I found the first half of this book to progress at a leisurely pace, I thoroughly enjoyed the introduction to all those who revolve around Ginny, including her sister Toni and Mffanwy. The girls' mother, Celeste, is quite overbearing, yet I found the interactions between the girls to be endearing. While there were moments that didn't resonate with me, feeling somewhat exaggerated and overly convenient, the book seemed to take a forced turn after Ginny deviated from her destined path. Nevertheless, it undeniably remains a commendable book. The characters were exceptionally well-drawn; at times, they were genuinely irksome, and their actions incited a desire to express frustration. However, I appreciated the journey Ginny, her mother, and her sister underwent in their quest to discover themselves and find happiness in life. Particularly intriguing was the exploration of the girls' powers and the unwavering support they received from the women surrounding Ginny.

Beneath the light-hearted exterior, this narrative subtly delves into hidden issues and imparts poignant lessons, skillfully presented by the author without overwhelming the readers. It offers much more than a typical rom-com, and I found that truly appealing.

This book made me laugh out loud and if you love confessions of a forty year old you will enjoy this. A story about trying to get your life together after discovering your boyfriend at your 40th birthday party sleeping with his assistant so it seems all your plans of having a baby are being put on hold or are they and is helping coming in unexpected places. Lovely read with really good characters

I really enjoyed this read! I liked our main character Ginny (Gin) and thought that actually, she was doing really well considering!! I love how the book was 'dictated' by those predictions from all those years ago. Ginny wasn't really convinced about them - even as they seemed to start happening. But she was then starting to be more convinced the more that was happening - even naming things as one of them when it wasn't quite it!

She was a really likeable character and I did feel sorry for her at times, there were moments however, that I was wanting to shout at her to 'man up' but luckily her best friend in the book was doing that too so she heard me, lol! I thought that the other characters were really well written and loved reading about them all.

There were moments when it literally had me laughing out loud - the shrooms part especially! A really fun, light-hearted read which did also have some serious and quite thought-provoking moments. I thought the ending was really good! I loved the writing style of the book and seemed to fly through the pages of it.

I nice light read, but it felt like it was missing something. I can't put my finger on it exactly. Overall though, a good read for the summer, I think, if you're looking to lose yourself in a book for a few hours and walk away without emotional baggage!

The Blurb :
Ginny is about to turn 32. It’s a year she’s been thinking about for a long time. Sixteen years ago she crossed paths with a psychic who made some key predictions about her thirty-second year…
Three bad things: A heartbreak, a loss of independence, and a death.
Three good things: A life-changing trip, reconnecting with someone, and meeting her soulmate.
The issue is that Ginny is due to get married in a month… but it’s all nonsense, obviously. But when some of those pesky predictions start coming true she starts to wonder what might happen next…

My Thoughts :
We meet Ginny who is happily engaged to Daniel and working in her mums jewellery shop.
Sixteen years ago Ginny crossed paths with a psychic who made 6 predictions about what would happen to her in sixteen years time, this consisted of 3 bad things and 3 good things.
Thankfully she thinks the bad has happened over the years, and now with Ginny about to turn 32, that time she has been dreading is now upon her. Will she get the good she has been waiting for or is it all a load of nonsense.
With Ginny’s wedding not too far away, her mum Celeste seems to be taking over in true fashion, when all Ginny wanted was a quiet one, soon things go wrong and start to fall apart, maybe the bad predictions are really starting to come true.
With the help of her friends Solani and Myfanwy can she see a way out of the mess and get her life back on track or is she destined for more bad luck forever!?.
Lucy Vine delivers us such likeable Characters, ones that could be in my own circle of my friends.
The reader will easily get invested in the storylines and find themselves routing for the Characters along the way. I just loved Ginny.
In this great book, we cover Family, Friends, fun and Romance. What more can we ask for!.
I will be looking out for Lucy Vines’s next offering.

Meet Ginny, 32 this year, the year according to a psychic, her major life predictions are set to come true, including meeting a soul mate.
Only problem is she is due to be married in less than month.
A lovely laugh out loud rom com, but it also covered difficult topics of setting boundaries, learning to love yourself and that single is okay when you’re in a relationship where you’re not happy
Thanks @lecv @simonschusteruk & @netgalley for the amazing read

Lucy Vine is fast becoming one of my go-to authors, when I want a modern romcom. She always brings what I need - a brilliant heroine, some kickass best friends, a will they/ wont they romantic interest, and a plot that will grip you from page one.

In 'Date with Destiny', Ginny is happily engaged to Daniel, working in her celebrity mother Celeste's jewellery shop, and is generally pretty happy with life. She sometimes thinks back to when she was 16 and a fairground fortune teller made 6 predictions that would happen in 16 years time - 3 depressingly awful (heartbreak, loss of independence and a death) and 3 utterly wonderful (a lifechanging trip, reconnecting with someone, meeting your soulmate) - but she tries not to give them too much attention, surely its all made up - and besides, she has her soulmate, Daniel.

Their wedding preparations are fully in swing; Celeste is taking over all of the arrangements but Ginny tries to make peace with the fact that her planned quiet intimate wedding is now spiralling out of control. But then the predictions start creeping into real-life and Ginny has to face the future that she never wanted to happen. Her wonderful best friends Myfanwy and Solani help her navigate what's happening to her, offering her a shoulder to cry on or to be a sounding board as she tries to work out where her well-planned life is going.

There are some brilliant laugh out loud moments as well as times when I gasped in shock at what had just happened. 'Date with Destiny' is a perfectly paced, highly entertaining read, ideal for a bit of escapism.

Thank you for my eARC of this book. I am honestly a little hit and miss with Lucy’s books but adore the ones I do enjoy. I really liked the premise of this one and I felt it delivered. Overall an enjoyable read.

Great quick read with lots of humour and fab characters. Really enjoyed the premise of the six predictions and how they were interpreted into Ginny’s life.

Enjoyed the relationships between Ginny and the side characters, especially Myfanwy and Toni and also appreciated the moments she had with her love interests (with of course the best man winning in the end).

Surprisingly my first Lucy Vine novel but doubt it will be my last!

Review: I love Lucy Vine books so much, she just seems to write to appeal to my lifestyle and my sense of humour and so how could I complain? The speed with which I tore through this book once I picked it up was intense, I just couldn’t put it down, I wanted to read on and find out what would become of Ginny, her friends, her family and, most importantly, her psychic predictions!

Ginny is great because she is so easy to relate to. She works in her family’s jewellery business (which definitely gave me Bridesmaids vibes) and she has a pretty settled life at the start of the novel. Then something shakes everything up like a snowglobe and we get to be with her as she tries to piece her life back together and move on with this set of psychic predictions hanging over her. I think my favourite of the predictions was definitely her life-changing trip, it was clear what it was going to be and it made me laugh out loud whilst reading a LOT!

Ginny’s team behind her are a varied bunch and I always love that shout Lucy Vine books, she really does make her characters like the kind of people you have as friends in real life. People aren’t all the same age in a friendship group, people come and go and people have very different lifestyles and are still able to be friends. I always feel like I am seen and I am represented in one of her books and I loved Ginny’s friends and family in Date With Destiny! I thought it made a real change that Ginny’s sister was part of the group and was just accepted even though she was younger and I like that the friends didn’t always go down the cliche route when it came to major life events!

This book was just a really good time! I was invested in the story straight away, behind Gunny every step of the road. Lucy Vine made me laugh, she made me think and she entertained me from start to finish. I highly recommend Date with Destiny, I think it’s got something for everyone and definitely one that should be in your bag this summer!

Lucy Vine's latest book is a delightful read, reminiscent of her earlier works. While it occasionally veers into the realm of cliché and convenience, overall it's a captivating story filled with genuine humor. The characters are well-developed, even if at times frustrating, and I appreciated the journey they undergo to find happiness. The themes of female empowerment and support are handled well, adding some depth to what could have been a simple rom-com. Despite its light-hearted tone, the book subtly addresses important issues and I loved the valuable lessons given without overwhelming the reader.

This is such a fun read!

About to be 32 year old Ginnys world is turned upside down when predictions made by a fairground fortune teller when she was 16 start to come true.

This was a fab idea and brilliantly executed. It’s also laugh out loud funny - that scene with the mushrooms especially!

Absolutely loved Ginnys friend Myfanwy especially and their relationship is very much friendship goals stuff.

Throw in Ginnys romantic entanglements and you have a perfect holiday read

4 ⭐️ I LOVED THIS!

Date with Destiny is such a cute book, it's a fast paced, funny read and had me hooked in the first few pages. I devoured it in a day, I highly recommend.
Ginny's life gets turned upside down when 6 predictions from her past seem to be coming true, this was such a gripping plot and I couldn't wait to see what was next. I loved all the characters in this book (except a couple, IYKYK 😒)
My only wish was for a little more Zach time 🥰

Thank you NetGalley & the publisher for the advanced copy of this book!
