This was a really fun and spicy read with an enjoyable premise! I loved both of our main characters and found myself really invested in their romance.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for this copy in return for my honest review.
A fun, steamy romance between a yoga instructor and accountant!
This was a fast, enjoyable read and I loved the chemistry between the characters.
The story of Colin and Shay. An opposites attract romance. A great read, and I liked how it was told from both points of view.
Shay is reaping the results of her hard work with the success of her yoga and fitness business. Her life has been a struggle. Her father's desertion, her mother's mental health issues, and her failed marriage all contributed, unsurprisingly, to her unwillingness to trust anyone new. Colin is materially successful, but his work success jeopardises his health and family life. A chance meeting with Shay, whom he knew at school, and a health scare draws them together. The chemistry is off the scale, and a physical relationship is inevitable, but will it stop there? I struggled a little with this book, as it is the fourth in a series, and the relationship between the six women is integral to characterisation. Shay is a likeable woman, and you want her to find happiness. Colin is hard to like for much of the book. However, he eventually realises that life is more than your career and status, but not before he has hurt Shay. I enjoyed the setting, the female protagonists and the chemistry between Shay and Colin.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
An opposites (reluctantly) attract romance. I liked the second half of the book more, and the main characters Shay and Colin were developed and interesting. Unfortunately I found the plot somewhat rushed toward the end and the author’s writing style just wasn’t for me, which affected my reading experience.
Yoga guru Shay reunites with her high school crush, accountant Colin. After a health scare they end up in a forced proximity situation and go on a journey of self development.
This book was very easy to digest and read. I flew through this and loved how sassy Shay was and the topics of illness were approached very well. The characters were relatable which helped too!
Some issues I found while reading this book is that I found Colin to be a little pretentious in his opinions. Mostly the “she doesn’t fit into my lifestyle” image he carries with him which just really annoyed me. Another is that I felt there was too much detail on the materialistic aspects, such as cars and houses as it just felt like an advertisement for each.
Thank you so much to Netgalley, Afterglow, and Mills & Boon for allowing me to read this in an advanced readers copy. All opinions are my own.
Frenemy Fix-Up🧡⭐️
Mills and Boon, Afterglow Books Arc
The Frenemy Fix-Up is such a unique romance read that I highly recommend. The female main character Shay is a yoga instructor who is extremely career driven, fun and down to earth. In the book, Shay rekindles with the male main character that she knows from school, Colin.
They rekindle by running into eachother in a coffee shop near Shay’s yoga studio which ignites the chemistry they didn’t expect to ever have for another. Colin is also career driven but has no work life balance which results in him having a health scare where Shay, being a yoga instructor helps him get his health back on track.
I thought the rekindling of Colin and Shay was perfect, realistic and from the rekindling it was clear how compatible they were which gripped me right away. I read this book in one sitting as I was obsessed and needed to know more!
Even though there was chemistry between them from the outset there was many ups and downs as I felt that Colin lacked emotional maturity. However, after his health scare he was able to become more vulnerable. It was lovely to see the character development of Colin and how this impacted and improved his relationship with Shay.
This book was filled with drama, spice and romance as well as an amazing representation of female friendships. Shay was a part of the most amazing friendship group filled with support and love which I think was my favourite part of the book as well as the amazing love story throughout.
A great, tense, emotional ride. Shay is a free spirit and focused with it, running her yoga studio and looking to expand. She agrees to be Colin’s friend with benefits and to get his health back on track. The journey they both go on is lovely, up and down and packed with bruises, bumps and errors. Shay remains true to herself and wants to be someone’s person, their number one. Colin irritates at times as he prevaricates and loses focus. The friends and family are fun and welcome additions to this romance.
