Thanks to NetGalley and publishers for the arc of Love in Provence by Jo Thomas.
Apparently this is a second in series, I haven’t read the first book, but I didn’t feel in any way that it affected my enjoyment at all. I could practically feel the warmth of the sun on my skin that’s how well written this book is, the author certainly has a way with words that you can just sink into the picture she paints with them. Read it, you won’t be disappointed.
What a lovely and heart warming read. I loved the community spirit that was created, how everyone pitched in and helped Del when she needed it most. Strangers being kind and supportive.
Del and Fabian are a great couple, and I enjoyed how they navigated around each other, each wanting to give the other space, but still totally in love with each other. Seeing them together, how much calm Fabian brings to Del and how big both their hearts are.
The pickers were great, each from different backgrounds and with different baggage, I liked seeing them grow and slowly flourish and how they came together and supported each other and helped each other find their new happy.
The ending made me shed a bit of a tear, it was very lovely and moving. A real sense of love, friendship and community was created and really felt a part of it.
This is the second instalment of Dels life in Provence, France. Like the first book it has a wonderful feel good factor. The characters, both old and new are great and the descriptions of the setting transported me to parts of France I have visited and love. Well worth a read.
Another thoroughly enjoyable read from Jo Thomas. This was a follow up to an earlier book also set in Provence. The author managed to bring everyone up to speed so it didn’t matter if you had read the previous book or not.
It was at times funny, heart warming, sad and all sorts of emotions. I was able to connect with the characters and empathise with them.
Lovely feel good book that would be a great holiday read.
Thank you for the opportunity to review.
I thought this was a very nice, likeable and safe read. We follow a group of people as they find themselves coming together, to work on a Lavender farm in Provence. Along the way they will make friendships and events may change their lives in ways they never imagined.
I thought the setting was nice and Thomas does a good job at transporting the reader to a hot summer in Provence. I liked the characters and there is a good balance of different personalities which helped to keep my interest. The plot was enjoyable although a little obvious.
Everything about this book was nice but there was nothing spectacular to set it apart from other books.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK for an advance copy.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Del has lived in France the past couple years. She loves her boyfriend and the friends she has made. This was a quick read.
Another brilliant read, As I was reading I felt like I’d been transported to another way of living and I love everything about it. This author has a way with words that truly emmerses you into her books. Im not going to remind you of the plot just read and you won’t be disappointed
At first I was unsure I was going to get into the latest from Jo Thomas. Oh how wrong was I. Set in Provence, amongst the lavender fields of a small town, the scene is set for romance across the ages; memories of old dear friends but also experiences being made with new friends that will add to the rich tapestry of the lives it touches. I was engrossed in it and wanted to read to the end, albeit we never want stories to end, when they’re a cracker, do we. Another good read from Jo Thomas.
I had been eagerly looking forward to readinfg “love in provance” after finding Jo Thomas at Christmas and loving “countdown to Christmas”. Thank you to NetGalley for letting me read it a little early. It did not disappoint
I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was such a heartfelt story, I think I went through every emotion along the way! Gives such thought provoking view on friendships and where “home” truly is
I liked reading about France and the sense of place in this fun and engaging read. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me review this book.
What an evocative cover! You knew immediately where this book was centred. As I read it I was sure that I had read a previous book with many of the characters, but couldnt pull it to mind. I have now realised that there is a 'first' book and wish I had read it again before this one. It is a lovely, typical Jo Thomas book, giving us a glimpse of a tough life on a lavender farm, with all the worries that go with harvesting, feeding and running Henri's restaurant. It gives us sadness, warmth and shows the power of people 'pulling together'. Thank you for the chance to read and review this book which I enjoyed immensely.
Jo Thomas saves her magic again in this stunning book set in France. An unputdownable reas that is well written, easy to read and that brings a smile to your face.
This is a charming easy read which essentially is all about love. It follows on from another book written by Thomas - 'Escape to the French Farmhouse'- but it doesn't matter if you've read that one or not as this story is perfectly contained.
Del has a fledgling lavender farm, a loving partner and a job she adores at her friend Henri's bistro, but one day la mistral (the wind!) brings mischief and everything changes. When life is turned upside down, Del has to learn what is the most important to her and to rely on new friends.
It is a lovely escapist read if you've always fancied the idea of living in an idyllic setting in France. The characters are likeable, the food in it will make your mouth water, and the storyline makes you keep coming back. It's not a taxing read as although it deals with some of the sadder parts of life, it also has strong themes of community, passion and love. I really enjoyed reading it and Thomas's descriptive writing paints such a clear picture, I almost feel like I've had a little holiday!
Having just finished the first book, it was easy to jump into this sequel about the lovely farmhouse in Provence. Time has moved on and it is time to harvest the lavender. The descriptions of this and the food are just wonderful and really make you feel like you are there. I loved the supper club and desperately want it to be real so I can go and visit! However Del seems to have become more insecure, and quite frustrating at times. The rest of the characters are great and the story is like a warm hug.
Tojours Provence!
A Gallic romp that was deliciously lavender secreted. I could smell the blooms, the honey Camembert, the rosemary and feel the warmth blast down over me, hear the Beas and cicadas. Jo this book was a dream and I loved it. It was warm and sad and friendly and fun all rolled in to one beautiful book. I loved all of the characters so much. I agree with Jen too. Bunting makes everything better.
Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange of and honest review.
Although I hadn’t read the pre cursor to this book, I didn’t feel lost or left wondering what had happened before. It stands well on its own. The story paints a lovely picture of life in the French countryside. It follows Del’s life in her new farmhouse surrounded by lavender fields. She suffers a devastating loss, deals with an obnoxious grieving son, loses her job and income and also has doubts about her partner. It’s uplifting following her overcome all obstacles with the help of strangers who have come to help get the lavender harvest in. Good read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher and author for this copy in return for my honest review.
What a perfect book full of sunshine! A lovely summer read, one to take with you to the beach or on holiday. In my eyes, Jo Thomas can do no wrong.
I thoroughly enjoyed this latest from the pen of Jo Thomas. Beautifully written, great storyline , and very evocative of life in rural France. The markets, the people, the food and wine , absolutely perfect, and took me straight there. Highly recommended.
Any loyal readers of Jo's knows by now that a summer setting, romance and food are the perfect concoction for her books. This is yet another classic to add to the Specials board.
Great to see the sequel and some much loved characters, and another entertaining read by this author.
A perfect afternoon would be to curl up on the sofa with a nice drink, favorite chocolates ans a good book, needless to say a Jo Thomas book fits the bill. After a series of setbacks at the local cafe things look a bit grim for a budding chef but life goes on and the lavender must be harvested. Volunteer pickers arrive and prove to be a very mixed bunch but have many hidden talents..........Relationship are pushed to the limit, can they survive? Another wonderful read from Jo who always manages to make us laugh and cry at the same time as well as telling people off for being selfish.
