What an evocative cover! You knew immediately where this book was centred. As I read it I was sure that I had read a previous book with many of the characters, but couldnt pull it to mind. I have now realised that there is a 'first' book and wish I had read it again before this one. It is a lovely, typical Jo Thomas book, giving us a glimpse of a tough life on a lavender farm, with all the worries that go with harvesting, feeding and running Henri's restaurant. It gives us sadness, warmth and shows the power of people 'pulling together'. Thank you for the chance to read and review this book which I enjoyed immensely.

Jo Thomas saves her magic again in this stunning book set in France. An unputdownable reas that is well written, easy to read and that brings a smile to your face.

This is a charming easy read which essentially is all about love. It follows on from another book written by Thomas - 'Escape to the French Farmhouse'- but it doesn't matter if you've read that one or not as this story is perfectly contained.

Del has a fledgling lavender farm, a loving partner and a job she adores at her friend Henri's bistro, but one day la mistral (the wind!) brings mischief and everything changes. When life is turned upside down, Del has to learn what is the most important to her and to rely on new friends.
It is a lovely escapist read if you've always fancied the idea of living in an idyllic setting in France. The characters are likeable, the food in it will make your mouth water, and the storyline makes you keep coming back. It's not a taxing read as although it deals with some of the sadder parts of life, it also has strong themes of community, passion and love. I really enjoyed reading it and Thomas's descriptive writing paints such a clear picture, I almost feel like I've had a little holiday!

Having just finished the first book, it was easy to jump into this sequel about the lovely farmhouse in Provence. Time has moved on and it is time to harvest the lavender. The descriptions of this and the food are just wonderful and really make you feel like you are there. I loved the supper club and desperately want it to be real so I can go and visit! However Del seems to have become more insecure, and quite frustrating at times. The rest of the characters are great and the story is like a warm hug.

Tojours Provence!
A Gallic romp that was deliciously lavender secreted. I could smell the blooms, the honey Camembert, the rosemary and feel the warmth blast down over me, hear the Beas and cicadas. Jo this book was a dream and I loved it. It was warm and sad and friendly and fun all rolled in to one beautiful book. I loved all of the characters so much. I agree with Jen too. Bunting makes everything better.
Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange of and honest review.

Although I hadn’t read the pre cursor to this book, I didn’t feel lost or left wondering what had happened before. It stands well on its own. The story paints a lovely picture of life in the French countryside. It follows Del’s life in her new farmhouse surrounded by lavender fields. She suffers a devastating loss, deals with an obnoxious grieving son, loses her job and income and also has doubts about her partner. It’s uplifting following her overcome all obstacles with the help of strangers who have come to help get the lavender harvest in. Good read.

What a perfect book full of sunshine! A lovely summer read, one to take with you to the beach or on holiday. In my eyes, Jo Thomas can do no wrong.

I thoroughly enjoyed this latest from the pen of Jo Thomas. Beautifully written, great storyline , and very evocative of life in rural France. The markets, the people, the food and wine , absolutely perfect, and took me straight there. Highly recommended.

Any loyal readers of Jo's knows by now that a summer setting, romance and food are the perfect concoction for her books. This is yet another classic to add to the Specials board.

Great to see the sequel and some much loved characters, and another entertaining read by this author.

A perfect afternoon would be to curl up on the sofa with a nice drink, favorite chocolates ans a good book, needless to say a Jo Thomas book fits the bill. After a series of setbacks at the local cafe things look a bit grim for a budding chef but life goes on and the lavender must be harvested. Volunteer pickers arrive and prove to be a very mixed bunch but have many hidden talents..........Relationship are pushed to the limit, can they survive? Another wonderful read from Jo who always manages to make us laugh and cry at the same time as well as telling people off for being selfish.

Let me start by saying I love the cover of this book, it is definitely what attracted me to it initially, that and the title. I have read a few books now by Jo Thomas and I can always count on her transporting me away to some beautiful idyllic location, and immerse myself in the local culture and cuisine. This book was no different.

We are transported to the beautiful Provence. Del moved to the south of France three years ago and hasn't looked back. She’s found new friends, new purpose, and is in love. It is a story of love, strong friendships and people coming together as a community to help each other.

What I didn't know when I requested or indeed started the book is that is is a sequel to a previous book called "Escape to the French Farmhouse". I wish I had known this previously and read the first book as there was some things I think I missed like character back stories that didn't really make sense to me and possibly hindered some my enjoyment of this book. That being said it was an easy read and I could smell the lavender fields in my imagination as I read the book. A perfect summer read!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK, Transworld Publishers for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thought and opinions are my own.

A great journey back to Provence. It was lovely to catch up with the characters and find out how life has moved on. An easy summer read that makes you wish you were in France for the summer experiencing the lavender fields and small town life.

Loved that this was a sequel to escape to the French Farmhouse. Slightly repetitive I thought in parts, but totally enjoyable with a lovely ending. I could even see another book in this series. Beautifully descriptive whisking off to the lavender fields. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy

Another successful story by Jo Thomas. Set in an idyllic scene where I could almost smell the lavender. A lovely story of friendships and romance. Perfect relaxing read.

"I have previously delved into Jo Thomas's work and found her books enjoyable. Unaware that this was a sequel, I struggled with the characters' relationships due to missing context from the first book. While an easy read, this installment lacked the gripping allure I had hoped for. Overall, I found it just okay.

Ever since I read the Oyster Catcher I have been hooked with the novels written by Jo Thomas.

This lived up to all expectations, reading in a cold and wet February in the UK, you are transported to the sun, lavender and warmth of Provence.

Del moved to Provence three years previously, and during her time her husband Ollie returned home to the UK, but Del remained.

Del met Fabien a younger lover and they set up home together. Henri who helped Del when she was first on her own made her a working partner in his bistro.

Sadly Henri dies suddenly in New Zealand while he is travelling with Del's friend.

The book follows the summer, Fabien returns to deputise in his band, Henri's son Zacherie takes over the Bistro and makes it clear Del is no longer required, while Del with a band of helpers bring in her lavender.

A great escapism read.

This book was a lovely follow-on to "Escape to the French Farmhouse", and to discover what happens next to the characters, especially Del, and her community at the Farmhouse.

This was a lovely warming story that made you travel to Provence, and be able to imagine the smells of the local area. This was a great story of a community dealing with adversity and finding who they were in the most unexpected ways.

I would advise this to anyone, but advise it's best to read the other book first as some bits may not make totally sense otherwise - such as Henri and Rhi,

I really loved the first story so was keen to see what Jo had done with Del and Fabian. I’’m never totally convinced of the need to re-visit a couple once they’ve reached their happy ending but Jo does a great job with this one and by the end I was grinning like mad.

A lovely story with a fabulous cast of characters including ones we already know. I love the evocation of France - felt I was there!
