Another amazing book from author Loreth Anne White. I was fortunate enough to get an audiobook copy of this as an ARC from NetGalley and Loreth. Thank you both for the opportunity to review this title!

Remains are found in the woods of a small town and word is spreading fast. Could this be the missing teen Annalise Jansen from so many years ago? Each character we meet in this story has their skeletons in their closet, but are they related to the case? It's up to homicide detective Jane Munro to find out. The case keeps being brought back to a set of friends dubbed "The Shoreview Six" by media and rumor mills. It's been 47 years since Annalise disappeared and they've spent much of those years trying to shake the moniker. This discovery has not only dug up old bones, but old secrets too.

I loved that this book placed an older set of main characters in the crime seat. We rarely see a senior citizen suspect, let alone 6 of them. The story held so much intrigue as we saw behind the scenes of the main characters as well as the supporting roles too. The ending was a twist I absolutely did NOT see coming. I'm still reeling over it. The only thing the story lacked for me was a backstory on homicide detective, Jane Munro. Will we get her story next? I hope so.

As for the audio file:

I want to give a standing ovation for not having background music playing during intros or chapter closures. That's been a recent addition to several audiobooks lately and I hate it. This one does not have that, so if you're looking to avoid them - you're in the clear here!

The narration was easy to listen to and I did not find myself tuning out or wondering who was speaking. It was easy to follow and distinguish between characters.

The audio flowed nicely and did not seem to drag on or cut things out. The narrator did an excellent job of differentiating new chapters or scene changes without making it a jarring break from the story (like a music file would. ugh!)

I still prefer reading to audio but it was so nice to have the audiobook version to 'read' while I did housework and chores and the day-to-day stuff that I tend to procrastinate in order to finish a great book, and make no mistake - this is a GREAT book. I highly recommend it!

This was a very fast paced twisted thriller. It appeared to me that most everyone felt like they had a hand in that nights disaster but then to add to it we were hit with a gut punch. This was a really good read and made you think of it long after you finished. I’m hoping that this could become a series. I would love to read more with detective Jane Munro, there’s a bigger story she has to tell.
