This just didn’t work for me. The synopsis makes the story sound interesting, but the actual book doesn’t follow through. A lot of this is due to the writing style. It might be up other folks’ alley, but not mine.

The premise of this novel grabbed my attention immediately, and I was surprised that the author was able to fit what sounded like a complex, deeply thought out novel into such a small number of pages. Once I started reading, I was unable to put it down - I read the whole thing in one sitting. The writing style was lovely, the ideas and events explored in the book were exciting, and the characters were people I felt I could visualise and relate to. My favourite parts were whenever Jayden and Sophia read the secret book written all those years ago and we got to see the events that kicked off the curse. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Unbroken Curse and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good historical mystery.

My only criticism is that there were a few spelling mistakes and some missing punctuation, as well as a couple spots with awkward phrasing made me do a double take. This was a very good story that I feel could become a truly great novel with a little bit of refinement and maybe expanding on the ideas. I got to about three quarters of the way through it and upon seeing that there was so little left, I almost didn’t want to keep reading so the story wouldn’t have to end.

Thank you to NetGalley and Erika M Szabo for providing this copy of Unbroken Curse to read and review.

A gripping historical fiction novel that seamlessly weaves together the past and present. Jayden's discovery of an ancient burial site and a mysterious leather book sets off a chain of events that unravel a centuries-old curse haunting his family. As he and his sister, Sofia, delve deeper into their family history, dark secrets emerge, leading to a shocking realization about the dangers they face. I enjoyed the rich storytelling and plot twists that kept me guessing until the very end. Unbroken Curse is a great read that blends history, mystery, and family drama, leaving a lasting impression long after the final page.
