Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for this arc. I liked the premise for this book but I just found it hard to keep going. I did finish it, just not interested in looking for book two.

This book definitely had some potential at the start... A lowly tavern worker living in a world of androids and princes. A main character on the run, and a hunt for those who are killing androids? Sounds good to me.

Unfortunately that was not the case, not even really what the book was about. It was more of a collection of random ideas taped together in the hopes that it becomes cohesive over time.

Truthfully, the entire book felt emotionally disconnected. There was no spark and barely anything remotely interesting to keep me engaged in the floppy plot. The communication between the characters felt young and flat. There was also no romance (not even YA level angst) to keep it going, at best we got a nervous reaction out of the main character from proximity.

Not very many of my questions were answered and quite a bit of what was learned about the world was a side note or was disregarded later. The ending was very unsatisfying, nothing felt resolved.

Good start, weird middle, incomplete ending. I don't think I'll be reaching for book #2.

“Aria,” by Ariele Sieling

I really liked this book. It had the dystopian feel but also with magic and gods and time travel. The futuristic feel to the city was my favorite part with all the androids. The story and world building were unique, and I did not see what was going to happen before it did. The characters were good, and I liked how they interacted with each other. The book is transgender friendly with an important character that had changed gender. I will definitely be reading book 2 of the series. 4 out of 5 stars.

-Futuristic City

-Androids

Thank you for the free copy, Netgalley.

How are more people not talking about this book! The mix of technology and magic is perfect. I never imagined this would be my type of book but it definitely was. There were so many unexpected twists around every corner. It was phenomenal. Immediately going to buy the rest of the books in this series.

An electrifying sci-fi fantasy novel that transports readers to a world filled with magic, technology, and thrilling adventures. The story follows the journey of Aria as she navigates a chaotic society while uncovering long-buried secrets about her past. As she grapples with newfound powers and faces formidable challenges, readers are taken on a rollercoaster ride of suspense and intrigue. I was drawn in by the richly imagined world-building and the dynamic characters who leap off the page. Aria kept me hooked from beginning to end, leaving me eagerly anticipating the next installment in the trilogy.
