I'm in my third year of retirement, and I've used the quality downtime to catch up on reading books in my vast collection. It took me six years to finally read the ARC of "Back Story," which I received all the way back in 2013, and now I'm wondering why I waited so long because David Mitchell's true stories, and I assume if they're true, thoroughly entertained me. And if some of the true stories are embellished, I'm OK with that. Of course, a 68-year-old Mississippi rube like me has no proof of embellishment. I do know "Back Story" is one of the most creative memoirs I've ever read.

Tremendously funny and at times poignant. Offers more substance than the typical book written by someone known for comedy.
