A cute story that only really had the two main characters - Hazel and Peter. The snowing in, with power out and no generator is all plausible and the slow explorations of each others past and emotions is detailed beautifully. Each has their own quirks and issues, some madder than others, and yet both are lovely and I ended up rooting for them to make it together against the odds.
Snowed In on Valentine's Day is the perfect blend of romance, humor, and self-discovery. The author has created a wonderful tale of love blossoming amidst a wintry storm, with characters who leap off the page. Hazel's journey from serial dater to self-awareness is both relatable and inspiring, and the chemistry between her and Peter is electric. What starts as animosity slowly transforms into something deeper, and as they navigate their feelings amidst the snowed-in chaos, readers are treated to a satisfying story of finding love when least expected.
Hazel and Peter"s story. Snowed in by a blizzard, and since they are now neighbors, they help each other, even though they clashed at their respected best friends wedding. Quick and easy read and would recommend.
this was such a well written enemies to lovers. the mfc was very relatable in my opinion. i loved how the forced proximity turned out. absolutely worth 5 stars and more recognition!

The cover is cute and was one of the main reasons i wanted to read this.
This was cute grumpy / no grumpy enemies to lovers and the small town romance feel was great.
If you want a quick, fun and just all around good feeling Rom Com this is for you and will hit the spot for the feel good.
Thanks NetGalley for letting me read and review.
This was a cute grumpy/sunshine, enemies to lovers, small town neighbor romance that takes place around Valentine's day and includes a great snowed in/forced proximity plot. Perfect for fans of other kissing only authors like Emma St. Clair or Jenny Proctor. If you want a quick, fun Valentine's read this hits the spot. Many thanks to NetGalley and the author for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
A lovely holiday romance. It’s a quick, fun read to cosy up with for Valentine’s Day. Loved the grumpy sunshine, small town trope.
I read this in one day! Loved this and can’t wait to read more from this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with this ARC,
Thank you so much for giving me the arc for ‘Snowed In On Valentine’s Day’ by Alana Highbury early.
Be warned I have very particular taste when it comes to Rom com books so a lot of my feedback is constructive.
My thoughts:
- I find the main character: Hazel very unlikable, every time she talks it’s like I’m being shot by a machine gun with random information about her that doesn’t seem even remotely relevant in context. I’m assuming it’s because the author is trying to characterise Hazel as someone who’s chatty and a rambler, but I don’t care about her at all yet, I’m not connected to her so I just feel like I’m stuck in a conversation with a person who won’t shut up
- What makes this even more weird is this quote “he’d taken an instant dislike to me, which was odd because most people liked me. I was so not an arrogant type, but I tended to make a good first impression with people. I’d been told I had some kind of natural charisma” um yeah okay..not only is this severely lacking self awareness, I think it is pretty arrogant to say that, so far I’m not seeing any of this “natural charisma” she claims to have
- Here are some more times Hazel makes claims with no evidence to back it up ‘animals usually like me’ “I’m usually cool like- (a cucumber)”
- Hazel’s “Wait did I just say that aloud”, quirky girl, “no he couldn’t possibly like me”, “I’m socially awkward” schtick is pissing me off, I can’t stand I’m so quirky fmc’s
- It feels like the book doesn’t really know who Hazel is, it tells us she’s a “serial dater” that “she drinks too much” and “travels too often”, that’s she’s charismatic and everyone loves her. And you think oh she’s a spontaneous, smooth, recovering party girl, but then through all her thoughts, actions and words your hit with this completely different Hazel that doesn’t match any of those descriptions remotely, one who overthinks things, is socially awkward, easily flustered, makes bad jokes, quirky, rambling and chatty. Those two characterisations don’t align, one of them has to change. I understand that human beings are complex and multifaceted, but this book isn’t capturing that in my opinion. Streamline her personality
- The grape vodka scene was super cringe and it made me want to Dnf, but I’m powering through,
- It was extremely hard for me not to skip all the pages with Hazel or Peter talking so basically the whole book, maybe if it had the guys pov to break it up or if it was in third person it would be more bearable but who’s to say
- I hate the nickname Haz, idk why it’s just grating to me. Doesn’t hit my brain right
- Pete is an asshole and I would rather die in a cold house than be near him, he’s giving: your childhood friend’s mean dad when you go to her house vibes
- Her calling him “Pete” is pissing me off, if someone kept calling me by a name I didn’t want to be called, then being an asshole and reasoning that I shouldn’t be offended I’d be livid, I’d let the girl die in her cold house
- I also hate the name Peter, maybe if they’d given him a hotter name I would have visualised him hotter and been more invested
- I think this snowed in concept would have worked way better in an apartment setting,
- The sleep cap was super random, unecessary and not flattering
- Peter and Hazel don’t have chemistry, again it’s very stammering, un self-aware child and her friend’s mean old dad. There was no tension, I wasn’t willing them to kiss, I didn’t have butterflies
- Kiss jump scare, it was out of no where
- Since I didn’t like either main character or the setting, I was extremely bored and it was a slog. I just didn’t care about anything. It felt so long
- I think the cover should be changed..
- Something that I thought was done really well was the writing style and the concept
Overall not for me.
I couldn't feel the love between the characters because Hazel spent almost all book repeating that they "hated each other." Another problem I had with Hazel is that she assumed everything about Peter with just one conversation, and then she is shocked when her assumptions are wrong.
I like the plot, but I Hazel is too annoying, and that's the reason I didn't give the book more than 2 stars.
GRAMMAR
° Chapter 3:
"You won’t meet her March, or maybe even April."
It should say "you won't meet her until March, or maybe ever April."
° Chapter 14:
“Mari, do you want any wine, or are you still—” “Still abstaining,”
The question is directed to Mari but it's Hazel who replies.
—Thank you so much to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the chance to review an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was so sweet. It is enemies to lovers, neighbours, snowed in romance. The way they fell for one another was so swoony. It doesn’t have steam.
Hazel and Peter did not really giving me the feeling that they were really made for each other. I did not feel the chemistry between them very much.
The story had potential to be a great romance but for me there needed to be a little bit more feeling in the story.
Thank you NetGalley and Alana Highbury for the copy of Snowed In on Valentine's Day. This is my personal review.
The book starts off with Hazel and Peter at a wedding. Quite frankly, they're not hitting it off at all. Peter's grumpy and Hazel's trying to change that.
After the whole wedding fiasco, Peter ends up moving next door to Hazel. She does her best to be all "neighborly," but he's not budging.
At some point, a really bad snowstorm hits on VALENTINE'S day of all days, and Hazel's forced to stay with him. They end up bonding.
The main trope is grumpy x sunshine. And, of course, he eventually comes around. It's a closed door romance, so we don't get any spice, but it was cute all the same.
It's a quick read, and I would recommend it. The only thing I wish is that it was a bit more valentinesy versus the events leading up to Valentine's Day..
3.25 STARS!! 💘
Hazel and Peter start off at a wedding and, to be honest, they're not hitting it off. Peter's good-looking but has a resting grump face, and Hazel's trying to crack that hard exterior 😭.
Guess what? Peter ends up being her new neighbor, and despite Hazel trying to be all friendly, he's still in grump mode 😅. Then, unexpectedly, snowstorm hits, and Hazel's forced to shack up with Peter. Classic setup, right? But, surprise surprise, they start bonding 👀
At first, I was frustrated with these two 😣. Grumpy guys and persistent girls, you know the type. But they both come around, realizing there's more to each other than meets the eye. It's a closed-door romance, which means it's not spilling all the steamy details but still gets cozy 🤭
Now, my only gripe is, it's a Valentine's book, right? So, I expected more V-Day stuff. But nope, it's mostly about two people snowed in until Valentine's Day with a sprinkle of holiday vibes 😕. Could've used a bit more heart-shaped chocolate or something 😅
Overall, though, it's a quick, cute, and cozy read. Perfect for a chill day or when you're in the mood for some low-key romance. Give it a shot if you're up for that! 💘
This story is cute and relatable. Hazel, the main female character is quirky and has a lot of cases of foot in mouth. I do appreciate her openness with her best friend and with Peter. I live in a cold, storm prone state so I could relate to the feeling of spending days with no power, just trying to make it.
The writing overall could use a little more oomph. There were some inconsistencies which left me scratching my head * did she forget her night cap? How is she taking it off?* There is also a section mid book which gives me more thriller/ mystery vibes which is obviously not the theme here.
I do wish there was more with Hazel and Peter in their relationship, but I enjoyed the small piece that we got. Overall, it was a nice quick read.
Thank you to NetGalley and BookBuzz for this eARC copy
Hazel and Peter really make this story. I think they complete each other perfectly. It makes you like them both. Even grumpy Peter, but we sure do see his not so grumpy side later on. Especially when Hazel is around. Both are afraid to admit right away. They both seem pretty shy. Hazel when she first met Peter, really couldn’t stand him. Then he became her grumpy next door neighbor. This is where she starts to see the real Peter.
This is a great story! I liked it right from the start! Enjoy this sweet read.
3.5 stars ✮⋆˙ Spoiler-free Review ୭ 🧷 ✧ ˚. ᵎᵎ 🎀
"We're redoing Valentine's Day. I want this to be my new memory. Our new memory." He took my hands with such tenderness that I almost teared up again. "I want to be with you Hazel, I want us"

First off, LOOK AT THAT GORGEOUS COVER ???? I LOVE THE COLOR PALETTE!!!! Anyway, This was so cute and hilarious and very short. Nothing serious even though some dramatic scenes happened. Some things didn't do it for me though hence the 3.5 stars.

At first I thought the writing was okayish, nothing special but it was okay for a rom-com, later on, I began to notice that it was too repetitive, it felt a little childish, I don't know but something wasn't right about the writing. It felt a little Wattpad-ish

Hazel ♥︎
Hazel is a hopeless romantic at heart, a serial dater, and a heavy drinker. Deciding she would leave all that by the new year after her best friend's wedding where she meets the best man, Peter who is cold, expressionless, hates talking, and seems to hate her and her endless talking. Her New Year resolutions included: no drinking, career shifting, settling, and absolutely no dating. To be honest, I did like her a bit but at most times she was just so annoying. YOU SHOULDN'T ASK SOMEONE YOU JUST KNEW ABOUT THEIR HEART CONDITION!!!! She was always crying, whining or just being so dumb and clueless about Peter liking her and how she definitely doesn't like him. She wasn't a good listener, and she asks the most intrusive questions like BITCH YOU SHOULDN'T ASK THAT??? I know that the author wanted her being so flustered and talkative to come off as her being so nervous by his presence (marinette vibes) but no, It didn't do it for me. To be fair she was quite funny and outgoing sometimes, but most times I just didn't like her.
Peter ♥︎
THAT MAN GUYS, THAT MAN >>>> His back must hurt from carrying the whole book>>> He is quiet, empathetic, kind, AND A CAT PERSON, I hate his family and how they treated him. HE LITERALLY GAVE HAZEL THE BEST GIFTS. HE HAS A HUGE BOOKSHELF Y'ALL AND DIFFERENT EDITIONS OF MONOPOLY. It is so obvious that his trauma changed him. He deserves the world and me.. HAZEL DIDN'T DESERVE HIM, SHE ALWAYS MADE ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT HIM WHEN HE WAS LITERALLY A CINNAMON ROLL. I love him sm
꒰ 🧷 The Plot꒱ؘ ࿐ ࿔*:・゚
The plot is probably my favorite thing about this book:) 2 people who "hate" each other, trapped in his house because of a snow blizzard ON VALENTINE'S DAY??? I love how they transformed from "Leave me alone, I hate you" to "Don't leave me alone, cuz I am scared but I still "hate" you" to "I love you and can't live without you". Their tension and angst were really funny tbh even if it was a little childish. I literally laughed my ass off the whole book
Last thoughts: overall this was pretty good and cute considering its length:) Would recommend it if u want something short and sweet 🎀🪞🩰🦢🕯️
Romantic story that was heartfelt and very sweet. Valentine’s Day needed a book like this one! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
I’ve never read anything related to Valentine’s Day honestly. Not much of a fan of the holiday to be honest but this was a cute easy read story. Clean romance with lots of personality misunderstandings.
Hazel and Peter are the best friends of Mariana and Terry who just got married. They ended up as neighbors, literally living next door in an area far from the center of the small town where they now live. Peter is this grumpy person who barely speaks, and is always obviously misjudged by anyone. But in this cute story Hazel is ready to discover what he’s all about and hopefully teach him about hope and happy endings.
Honestly, I had fun reading it, which is quite surprising for me because it’s not my favorite genre. Most of the time, I roll my eyes but I admit this story reminded me how parents and their own baggage can mess up their children’s lives.
After first meeting Peter at her best friend's wedding, Hazel is anything but smitten. In fact, she hates Peter albeit being impeccably groomed and hot as hell! Fast forward to their next encounter when Hazel finds out he is her new neighbor. Hazel ends up having to spend a few days with him after being unexpectedly snowed in with no power, but luckily Peter has a generator. Can the generator thaw his frosty heart as well?
Even though I was frustrated with Peter for the first half of this book, I just knew he would come around eventually. This was a very sweet, heartfelt rom-com that is a perfect for readers who love holiday romance books.
