I’ve really enjoyed the last few novels by Mary Kubica so was looking forward to reading She’s Not Sorry.
Megan Michaels is an ICU nurse caring for a patient, Caitlin, whilst also juggling life as a single parent to a 16 year old daughter. When she meets up with an old school friend, Nat, she is drawn into her life and becomes determined to help Nat leave her abusive husband.
Initially it felt that there was too much going on in this novel, with too many plots and sub plots. It’s a bit chaotic which matches the behaviour of the main character, Megan. However it is also a gripping page turner with a brilliant twist that I did not see coming. The various plots eventually come together, although I felt that one sub plot was dealt with a bit too quickly.
Overall, some great plotting and twists but I also felt the plot needed tidying up and editing.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.

Meghan Michaels is trying to find balance between being a single mum to a teenage daughter and working as a full-time nurse. While on duty at the hospital one day, a patient named Caitlin arrives in a coma, having plunged from a bridge onto train tracks below.

But when a witness comes forward with shocking details about the fall, it calls everything they know into question. Was Caitlin pushed and if so, by whom and why?

This is a good book, a bit of a slow burner though so depends on your personal preference. Good characters and story line.

Mary Kubica can always be relied upon to produce poignantly-observed contemporary thrillers, and this, novel, her latest offering, is no different. The female protagonist is intensive care nurse Meghan Michaels who shares custody of a teenage daughter with her former husband Ben. Meghan is assigned to the care of another young adult, Caitlin, who has narrowly avoided suicide. But the better Meghan gets to know Caitlin’s loving, grieving parents, and the closer Caitlin herself gets to physical recovery, the more uneasy Meghan starts to feel. Might Caitlin’s suffering be linked with the fate of Meghan’s former school friend Nate? And might these be connected to Meghan’s own life and that of her daughter? An amazing novel with many heart-stopping points of seemingly no return – highly recommended! Grateful thanks to NetGalley and to the publishers for gifting me this ARC that enabled an honest, unbiased review of a phenomenal thriller.

Thank you Netgalley, Mary Kubica and HQ publishers for the eArc of She's Not Sorry

I've enjoyed few Mary Kubica's books and this is no exception. This twisty thriller has an engaging, page turning narrative which follows Meghan, a nurse who is trying to strike a workalike balance, bring her teenager daughter up on her own. One day on duty, a patient is bought onto the ward who is in a Coma. When a witness comes forward to say that Caitlin was pushed off a bridge onto a train track. Everything is called into question, including the way she's becoming a little too close to Caitlin and her family.

I found this thriller ticked on really nicely at a medium pace and had plenty of engaging plot twists and reveals. The character development and plot direction I found well balanced, which made for a quick read and a satisfying ending

4 stars for Netgalley, Amazon, StoryGraph and Goodreads

“She’s Not Sorry” by author Mary Kubica is a skilfully crafted thriller that follows Meghan Michaels, an ICU nurse who stumbles upon a patient’s terrifying past, leading her down a path of suspense and danger that threatens her own family.

Meghan is trying to balance her demanding job as a nurse with her responsibilities as a single mother to her teenage daughter. Her disordered life takes a dark turn when Caitlin, a comatose patient with a traumatic brain injury, arrives at the hospital. Caitlin’s fall from a bridge to the train tracks below is initially presumed to be a tragic accident, but when a witness reveals startling details about the incident, everything changes. The question of whether Caitlin was pushed and, if so, by whom and why, becomes the central mystery that Meghan feels compelled to solve.

Meghan is a very good character and she battles to maintain a professional distance from her patients. She becomes deeply involved in uncovering the truth while dealing with her own fears. As Meghan digs deeper into Caitlin’s past and her family’s secrets, she inadvertently places herself and her daughter in danger.

I found this quite a slow burner but I enjoyed how the suspense gradually builds up. There are some really strong characters who are well developed and certainly add to the enjoyment. The climax is worth waiting for and ties up all the loose ends satisfyingly.

“She’s Not Sorry” is a gripping thriller that is a very good read, a blend of well developed characters and a suspenseful plot.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and HQ for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve heard good reviews about this book, this is my first book from author Mary Kubica and definitely will not be my last. At first I wasn’t too sure about it, I wasn’t sure how the storyline was going to go but wow what an ending. Even though I struggled with the book in the beginning, I still wanted to find out how it would go but I struggled to put the book down and practically absorbed the book in one day.

**Rating: ★★★★☆**

Having thoroughly enjoyed Mary Kubica's previous work, I was eager to dive into her latest book, *She's Not Sorry*. I'm happy to report that it did not disappoint!

*She's Not Sorry* is a really interesting read with a storytelling style that kept me hooked from start to finish. The narrative was very cleverly done, and the twists were nothing short of excellent. There were several surprises that I didn’t see coming, which is always a treat in a thriller.

Kubica's talent for weaving intricate plots and maintaining suspense is evident throughout the book. The characters are well-developed, and their motivations are explored in depth, adding to the overall intrigue.

While there were a few minor loose ends that I wished had been tied up more neatly, it didn’t detract significantly from my enjoyment of the book. The story’s conclusion managed to deliver a satisfying end to the suspenseful journey.

Overall, *She's Not Sorry* is a fantastic read for anyone who loves a good thriller with unexpected twists and turns. I highly recommend it and look forward to seeing what Mary Kubica comes up with next!

This book is roller coaster fast. It is packed with tension and suspense. The story centres around Meghan, a nurse. She lives with her daughter, Sienna in a Chicago apartment and is divorced from Ben. She gets caught up in a new friendship and this seems to be a positive addition to her social life.

The most memorable aspect of the book is the shocking twist which I completely did not anticipate.

I recommend it to anyone who likes a thriller.

My thanks to the author, to Netgalley and to the publisher for the advance copy to read and review.

Meghan is an intensive care nurse, and a single Mum to her teenage daughter. Meghan worries that her daughter is left alone too often while she works her shifts at the hospital, especially with a serial rapist prowling the city. She is also concerned about a young woman who has been admitted into intensive care. She is in a coma after a failed attempt to take her own life. These concerns start to consume Meghans life, and affect her in a way that no-one predict!...Read it!

Thank you to the publisher, NetGalley and the author for this ARC! I really enjoyed the last book I read by Mary Kubica so I was excited to dive into this one. I certainly wasn’t disappointed!

The way this story was told was really interesting, I’m not going to elaborate on that because that would be a spoiler but it was very cleverly done. The twists were excellent, I did guess a couple, including the big twist but that didn’t dull my enjoyment and like I’ve said before I’m naturally suspicious of everyone in a thriller novel.

My only complaint is that I felt that a couple of storylines weren’t explored completely and that some loose ends weren’t tied up. Nothing major to the point where the book doesn’t feel complete but I thought it ended rather abruptly.

That being said, I really enjoyed this and I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a twisty thriller that will keep you reading! This was released on 2nd April so you can grab it now!

I really didn't know how to feel about this book while i was reading it, it was so twisty.

I loved all the different mini plots that were going on throughout this book and I loved how they all joined together.
I had little idea how this book was going to end, I had some guesses and they were mostly incorrect.

The first half of this book was slow / medium pace but then the second half really picked up. It got so tense and twisty.
The reason this wasn't a 5 star book for me was because the end just felt a little bit too much. It was super unbelievable how everyone got a nice happy ending except the villains who got what they deserved.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC.

A good read and the author does raise some moral questions in wgaeg is essentially a page turning drama. Megan, the main character, is caught in a moral dilemma and the sun plot of a serial attacker adds to the book's tension.

Want to escape into a good book? This will do nicely.

She's Not Sorry follows the story of Meghan Michaels, a busy Mum and ICU nurse who is tasked with looking after a new trauma patient. Caitlyn has jumped from a bridge and is in a coma with a brain injury; but evidence soon comes to light that Caitlyn was pushed. Meghan ends up involved with Caitlyn's family and soon finds herself and her loved ones in danger.

Whilst I generally did really enjoy this book, the pace was just a little slow for my liking. Plenty of time was taken to set the scene, describe the characters and add lots of extra detail.

I enjoyed meeting the characters, but did find Meghan a little frustrating at time when she regularly put both her and her daughter's safety at risk.

Overall, I enjoyed this book.

My thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for sending me this ARC in return for an honest review.

Nurses are supposed to do everything they can to keep you from dying, right?

That is unless you've turned their world upside down in the worst possibly way imaginable.

Megan Michaels is an exceptional nurse, kind, caring and attentive.

She is also a single mother to her beloved daughter who she would do anything to protect.

Like most of us, Megan has secrets from her past that must stay hidden.

Megan will do anything to save her daughter from certain death, or a fate worse than.

When Caitlin Beckett poses as an old school friend of Megan's, Nat Cohen who is suffering from being in an abusive relationship, she wants to help.

Not realising that Caitlin has an ulterior motive.

Megan has unwittingly put her and her daughters lives in danger due to her caring nature.

That's about all I can say, without giving anything away...

I always find Mary Kubica's writing really clever, and this is no exception! There were a couple of twists in this novel that I didn't see coming at all...

I can't wait for the next!

Mary Kubica has written many great books and She's not Sorry can also be added to the list!

This was a gripping read and I struggled to put it down!

Wow! I absolutely adore Mary Kubicas novels, and this was no exception. This had me on the edge of my seat and feeling like I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I flew through this desperately, wanting to know what was going to happen next. This was so fast-paced, and each character and scene was so well written I felt like I was really there. The fact that none of the characters are really likeable made this even better, and although I'm a little disappointed, I figured out all the twists it didn't take anything away from my enjoyment of this book. Highly recommend this and everything else Mary Kubicas written.

This is a book which rewards you for your loyalty. At first, I thought this was not going to be as good as many of the other reads from Kubica: I appreciate this writer’s style for the intense, developed narrative that packs a punch with plenty of surprises along the way. However, I did feel that this novel was very slow to get started, to the point that I started to lose interest.

Yet, this slow opening is all for a very good reason as the writer does this to establish the foundations for what then becomes a pacy second half. I could not put it down once I had realised the plot direction and I relished in the intense surprises along the way. This was Kubica’s writing that I have grown to love. The synergy that comes from seemingly two different plots is finally explained as there is a link between Meghan’s work and the patient she cares for.

There is a lot going on in this book which I think explains why the first half is more slow. Meghan’s characterisation was developed so when the action really kicks off, I felt like I truly knew her and her home life. The threat against women constantly played in the background which added further tension to the story, especially as it seems that Meghan’s front door never truly seems secure. Add in the basement scene and I found my heart was in my mouth: clearly Meghan is not safe and suddenly, thanks to the intricate plot, there could be many reasons behind it.

I enjoy Kubica’s writing and I think the second part of the story really makes up for the simmering beginning. It felt different to other novels I have read by this author because of this slower start. On the other hand, the plot development and gradual build-up is part of Kubica’s writing that I enjoy. Add to the fact that the protagonist is always trying to do her best for her teenage-nearly-adult daughter, navigating being a single parent and having an intense job, meant there were plenty of elements where I sympathised with Meghan. She constantly feels afraid for herself and her daughter – like she is a danger magnet – and so when things start happening that are not in her favour, I found myself gripped and determined to know what the outcome would be.

This was a solid read from Kubica and one that has a gripping second half. It is definitely worth persevering as the first half really helps to establish significant plot developments that readers see later on.

With thanks to HQ Digital and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first Mary Kubica book I've read and I really thought it was going to tick all my reader boxes but it kind of... didn't. While I did feel regularly provoked to pick up the book to find out a little bit more about what was going to happen, to whom, and why, I also kept feeling like a lot of stuff about the plot didn't really make sense. Or maybe not so much the plot, but some of the character motivations. It wasn't always clear why some people were acting a certain way - like there wasn't enough believability in their actions - and there is a HUGE plot point in particular that I just could not get on board with. I have tried to reason with myself that sometimes "unreliable narrators" and morally grey characters do things that make you shudder even though they may be the protagonist/hero - but this big plot point rang quite hollow for me. It just didn't make sense. A weaved-in subplot also didn't seem to fit in with the story (except for being a creep factor in the background), which also felt a little bit forced with a rush ending (which also didn't make much sense). If I thought too hard about it, there were a lot of little holes in the plot about who knew certain things when and why, etc. The timeline layout of chapters also felt a little confusing to me - but I did read this at ARC stage and it may have been corrected pre-publication by the addition of some chapter date/timestamps. I'm sorry not to provide a more positive view, but this book just didn't really hang together for me personally. Thank you to HQ Stories and Netgalley for the review copy.

I liked the main twist and how readable this thriller was, but this one also had way too many things going on and the latest one was completely unnecessary, in my opinion, which made the ending feel kind of ridiculous.

The first half was slow (I know MK tends to do that so that the second half is more action-packed once the character-driven part is done), but that didn't bother me as much as the multiple plotlines introduced in just a few chapters. From the premise it seems like the main character's patient is the thing the book is focusing on but that's not actually true, at least not until halfway through. Instead you're stuck with Meghan, her mundane life, her job, her divorce and issues with her daughter, her friend from high school. As a nurse I loved that her job was a big part of the book, also because it was a pretty accurate representation, but after a while it became repetitive. Nothing was really happening + I was rolling my eyes the umpteenth time she mentioned that the ICU rooms have glass walls, that insulin pens should be personal, that Caitlin has bruises and her head covered with gauze.

I really loved the main twist though (and how the book picked up pace after that), I just wish the book had followed that route instead of going directly into cliche territory.
