I really enjoyed this book. It was written from both the wife and the mistress’ perception. It made me have sympathy with both, depending on the narrative. It had lots of twists and turns, with a very unexpected ending.

Valerie has given us yet another, impossible to put down, domestic thriller.

This was a quick, easy read and I thoroughly enjoyed escaping into Susan and Hannah's drama for a while.

Highly recommend this book if you're looking for a fast paced, easy read, with drama, mystery, interesting characters and a very unexpected ending.

Although this book started off strong and kept me engaged, the ending fell totally flat for me! I think it was building up to a big ending and it just didn't match was I was expecting. Overall it was a good book and I will definitely be on the lookout for more by this author.

This is a page-turning popcorn thriller. The book alternates between Hannah and Susan's points of view. It was a nice twist on being "the other woman". I even sympathized with the characters even though they were not overly likeable. The ending was not expected and I sort of wished it ended differently. For that reason I gave 4 stars. Overall a very enjoyable and quick read.

Thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I have enjoyed every book I have read by this author. Thrills, twists, the last twist knocked my socks right off!! LOVED this book. Hannah, the one who got away. She wants to rekindle something with a ex, only problem is he’s married, to Susan, the doormat. What unfolds is a unique story which I could not put down till the wee hours of the morning. That ending! I need a Time Machine so I can go back and re read this without knowing that ending!
4.5/5

Hannah after leaving her abusive husband tries to win back Mark, the man she left years ago who is now married. Susan suspects her husband is having an affair and decides to find out more about it.
Exciting first few chapters and an interesting ending, however the rest has seemed to me like Susan moping about her relationship with her son and her anxieties about losing her husband and Hannah trying to lure Mark back, scheming ways to get him to leave his wife. At times I found it repetitive.
The characters don't leave you indifferent, but for me I couldn't empathise with any of them.
Overall, it's not a bad book, it's a domestic thriller perfect for a moment of leisure.

What a book! From the very beginning I was caught up in the story and had a hard time putting it down.

The author seemed to perfectly capture the characteristics of each of the female lead characters, I honestly came to completely dislike the beautiful, manipulative Hannah who spent most of her time planning how to get what she wanted and fine-tuning her appearance.. Next to her, Susan: mother of a college-age son and wife to Mark, a successful lawyer pales in comparison as far as surface looks go. Susan was like so many middle-age women whose lives revolved around taking care of the family--and maybe didn't take much time for themselves or their appearance.

As the story continues a few unexpected twists and turns come up that take the story in places I didn't expect. Great job with this one.

Valerie Keogh’s psychological thriller The Mistress is slow but in a good way. She takes her time to develop the characters. You can’t decide whether to like them or not, but you get invested in them and the story. The story is told from two POV Hannah and Susan. I liked that the female characters were strongly depicted, and the men were shown as flawed. The novel is full of twists and turns and keeps you reading quickly to the end to see what happens.

Really really enjoyed this, although the main character was a little irritating…I think she was meant to be. An outstanding plot and you won’t see the end coming.

Another good book from this author , it was a bit slow in places but the ending got really interesting and was worth waiting for . I loved the wife and the decisions she made and felt a bit sorry for the mistress, in a way , after realising her past . I would definitely recommend this book .5 stars from me

Its a bit far fetched. This woman is a man-eater and is on a mission to get what she wants. Not my cup of tea but if you like Jackie Collins kinds books, you might enjoy it more than I did. Just not my style of writing and story but I am sure lots of people would disagree with that

A good read, tense, pacey, interesting. The narrating characters were very different, which made it satisfying to read.
Docking a star for the weird chapter near the end when ****** slits ******'s throat....but then for the rest of the book this doesn't get a mention and it clearly didn't really happen, but no matter how many times I re-read it there was nothing to suggest it was just a fantasy or anything..? V confused.
