I really enjoyed reading this manga, it was so good!?
The synopsis made me so curious and immediately caught my attention, and I was not disappointed. Also, the artwork?! Wow! Loved it. The characters were so good too.

A great story with some of the most amazing illustrations seen. It would be a great addition to anyone’s collection of graphic novels. I can’t wait for more.

The art is stunning and the premise is intriguing. I have no regrets picking this up based on the cover alone. The contrast between the innocence of the main character and the darkness implied in the lore works well and has a lot of potential. I will definitely read volume 2!

Cover: Sooo good. I scroll quite fast most of the time and this made me stop. It really catched my eyes!

Drawings: I think it's quite lovely drawn. As always it's black-white as it's a manga, but the drawing style is really good. Especially the prince of Quartz. He looks so good!

Review

Nice drawings. Almost every third page has a big drawing and I personally like them a lot. The hair was also drawn really well from each character. The feathers are drawn with so much detail. And there are sometimes small stars around the drawings, I think that's cute.

Get to know the main character Blue quite fast. We get an insight of the life of Blue and how she has a hard time interacting with other's based on her wings. I can relate to her on many ways and I think showing her insecurities is a great way of making a reader connect more with the characters.

Every few pages happens a new event and it makes the reader excited to read more.

End note/Final thoughts:

Thank you for the advanced reader copy of A Kingdom of Quartz 1 by Bomhat.

Thank you to the publisher for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

First off, this art style is absolutely gorgeous. I want a physical copy just so I can stare at it. Secondly, the world building is really fun. It definitely has some Catholic influence which I think is super interesting. I'm interested in seeing where they take the goddess. I sort of hope she's the bad guy, but that's just a personal preference. It is a bit gory for those who are easily grossed out.
Belle as a character is pretty much your typical shounen manga protagonist. Highly motivated, probably the thing they hate the most, a little naive, but she is so adorable. I just want to protect her forever. I'm super interested in seeing where this goes.
I think this perfect for people who like the promised neverland.

The art style is very pretty and there's a lot of background detail. Blue is an orphan and dreams of growing up to be an angel to help other people. However, due to her black wings, people think she's odd, yet she's still determined to do her best and the prince sees her potential. Overall, this volume was rather short and it seemed to fast forward through scenes, but otherwise solid start to a new series and will be looking for volume 2.

Blue is a girl with big dreams and not many people in corner. Since she was a young girl in the orphanage she has desired to become and angel. However, being born with black wings has made her misunderstood by the very people she wishes to protect. With more courage then sense she begins her journey to being not just an angel but an archangel. One of the biggest strengths within this first volume is how amazing blue is as a main character. Something about her personality makes you want to root for her. Just enough is given within this volume to leave you dying for more info about demons, archangels, and blues secret powers. Can’t wait for the next installment

Enjoyed the artwork style and the start of the story. It doesn’t start slow but at the same time, it doesn’t spoil the mystery behind why the main character has black wings.

thank you for my copy NetGalley! all opinions are my own.

i LOVED this manga and think the author has a pretty unique world created. so much has been done before with angels/demons that it’s rare to find something new but this brings a few new elements to it that i love. i really like the way the demons are drawn and am excited to read about the challenges people must go through to become actual angels. the artwork is so cute! the characters are likable and interesting as far as introductions go. there’s a few holes that i’m hoping are filled in the future releases, so i’ll be on the lookout to read them!

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this arc in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this one! I finished it in one go and would love to read the next volumes.

This is about a world that was divided in 2 by the Goddess, long ago.

The demons live in the dark part, the Celes (winged beings) were given the Quartz Kingdom.

Blue is a little orphan girl, who has dark wings. Some people think that makes her a demon. When she stands up for one of her friends, who’s being bullied, but falls while helping him, the prince and archangel Cassian catches her and even gives her his special badge. I loved how another angel told her that “it doesn’t matter if you have pigmented wings, one wing or no wings. Anyone can become an angel.” And that’s exactly what Blue wants to become. But when a giant demon attacks and destroys the orphanage, she almost changes into a demon…

This was such a fascinating, engaging, beautiful and cute story!

Want to thank Netgalley and publishers for giving me the chance to read this book.

I loved this manga. It was cute and sad and the action was pretty great. I am cheering Blue on. I have my theories on things but as of now I am just enjoying the ride. This is a series I NEED to read till the end.

I could not stop reading this! If you love things like Beyond the Clouds, or Witch Hat Atelier, this is the series for you. The politics are coming through, and are going to be a strong player. We have characters that are easy to root for. We have a gorgeous Ghibli-style art, and I just can't wait for the next volume. This one is truly brilliant, and I need to see more people reading this one.

Well written, well drawn graphic novel. The story was easy to read and follow, the characters well defined. I cannot wait till I have my hands on the next volume (2).

I did not expect to become so captivated with this story, but here I am falling down another manga spiral. The art/drawing are gorgeous (and haunting) while the story arc and text is not overwhelming and can quickly be understood with the panels. I am very invested and want to learn more about this world and our little black winged heroine.

A very interesting story that seemed too short for me. I think they could have made it a little longer but here it is Magui speaking, and it is something totally subjective because I was really left wanting more and when I realized I had already finished the volume.

The story has a cool premise, dark and fun at the same time. It is one of those stories where we will be able to see the protagonist grow, where the story will become intertwined between other people with whom she will have a bond and grow from them. I always like those stories, they catch me and I try to read them.

Thank you Kodansha Comics for the digital issue I read on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed the manga because the artwork is really beautiful. The plot with the angels and demons is exciting. I really want to know what happens next and whether the protagonist becomes a knight or not. I found it really melancholy at times, but it fit the setting. Hopefully the second part will appear soon.

This story is not only super cute, but has a lot of action and the storyline seems very strong. I really enjoyed the art as well. I'm actually looking forward to see how this training works out for Blue and to learn more about who she is and why her wings are black

This was a cute and super quick read. We start off with our adorable main character Blue, who is an orphan and lives in a Catholic Church/orphanage. She’s super sweet and cute but she has black wings which means she gets picked on a lot and called a demon. She is really obsessed with becoming an angel because of how she grew up being ridiculed for her wing color.

I really enjoyed the art, it’s very good. And I thought our main character was very lovable. I like how the story is setting us up for academy/training story in future volumes, I love reading stories like that. And I’m really curious to learn more about our main character and the world she lives in. I hope we eventually get to see more of the other types of angels that weren’t covered as much, especially the ones out fighting the demons. Finally, the story ended on such a cliffhanger, I really want to get the next volume and see where that leads.

Thank you to netgalley, the publishers, and the author for the ARC I received.

"Light and Dark. Celes and demons.

A Kingdom of the light and the dark. Pitch black wings as dark as the night itself, everyone else's wings as white as falling snow.

I was pleasantly surprised by the terrifying biblically correct angels taking the place of terrifying, murderous monsters.

When a young girl who dreams of being an angel attempts to protect those she loves, others call her a demon because of her black wings.

She protects them anyway. A girl with the power of overwhelming darkness struggles to maintain the good and the better, even while that dark power is what gives her purpose and keeps her friends and loved ones safe.

I adored Blue. My heart always aches for the black sheep MC, one mocked and hated for her difference. The prince, as weak as he is, asks for her assistance.

I loved this story because "the cursed one" is the one they need to keep that Quartz kingdom safe. Even as the Prince says he'll kill her, I do hope this series ends is her burning him and his kingdom to the ground.

They do not deserve her. Her ambition to keep her people safe, they should be happy she worked so hard to keep them safe; yet they want to kill her for the power that saved them.

But, I digress. The storyline is beautiful. The concept is amazing. The character digs at my heart. Readers, this is a must read 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 Stars!

Oh hello, I like this art style! It's very pretty.

Our main character, Blue, has this innocent optimistic view of her life that makes it easy to root for her.

The world building is still taking off but from what I'm seeing, this is interesting so far.

Story wise, I found it to be a liiiiittle disjointed, but still relatively easy to follow. I don't love the fact that volume one is only three chapters, I feel like that's not a fun place to leave off of, especially for a series opener, but I'll give this a couple more volumes to make a decision to continue or not.
