Summary:
Eito Tachibana is sick and tired of all the jokes revolving around his name. Every time he meets a person, it’s the same old joke, again and again. It’s exhausting. Yet, one day, he met a classmate who didn’t react as expected.
This singular moment kicks off a series of events that will hopefully change both of their lives forever. Sharing something in common, they have plenty of reasons to get closer as they learn about each other.
Review:
Okay, this is a cute story. Number Call may not be the deepest of romances (at least initially), but it is cute and sweet. Basically, our two leading gentlemen meet because of their name similarities (both being the number eight).
Like I said, not super deep. But it is funny and charming in its own way. The sort of thing that gives people the excuse to bond. It’s also a bit of a slow-burn romance, as our characters only get to interact in a limited fashion (for example, walking home from school).
Number Call is sweet and endearing, but it lacks substance. I wish there were more to the characters, their stories, and their interactions. Still, I’m happy I gave it a try!

Ich habe dieses Buch wirklich sehr geliebt. Es war süß, es war einfach zu verstehen und die Geschichte hatte trotzdem ihre Tiefe. Ganz tolles Buch und eine große Empfehlung.
Review: Number Call is a sweet and wholesome high school romance manga that offers a fresh take on the genre. The story revolves around two boys, Eighto and Hachi, who bond over their unique names, both connected to the number eight. This simple yet intriguing premise sets the stage for a slice-of-life romance that unfolds in a charming, lighthearted manner.
The artwork is beautifully done, with detailed illustrations that add depth to the story. While the narrative itself is straightforward and leans on familiar tropes, it is executed with a tenderness that makes it enjoyable. Fans of the genre will appreciate the gentle pace and the genuine connection between the characters.
However, the story may feel a bit too simple, as it doesn’t delve deeply into the characters’ emotions or offer any surprising twists. The ending, in particular, is abrupt, leaving some wishing for a more developed conclusion. Despite this, Number Call serves as a delightful, feel-good read, perfect for those looking for a quick and endearing romance.

A very cute high school romance with an interesting concept. I would definitely recommend this to others even though this isn’t my favourite work from the mangaka.
A Fun and cute one. I really enjoyed this overall. It was different than i expected but in a good way.
Really loved the artwork
sweet and cute high school story. the art was definitely really good. both character's names were based around the number 8 thus the reason they have this connection. it was a very interesting concept that i couldn't not put it down, although it took me time to finish it because of the busy schedule i have 😭 but thank you netgalley, the publisher for the opportunity to read this precious manga.
A very cute, queer romance manga. Set in a school setting, this book has me swooning at how cute the character interactions are and how well illustrated the story was. Highly recommend
Many thanks to Netgalley, Kodansha Comics and the author for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Number call is a cute story of 2 boys who bond over their names being a version of number 8. A slice of life romance, with simple meet cute, a quiet search for feelings and a quick but satisfying story arc.
I will recommend this book to people who are looking for a quick sweet palette cleanser.
This book was cute but a little boring. The characters were pretty adorable and I generally like the school age and setting as being a sweet first love kind of romance setup but it certainly wasn't the most interesting version of this I have read. I think this setup has been done a lot and I have read a lot of them so at this point I look for uniqueness in these kinds of stories to keep my interest. Personally, this one didn't hit that uniqueness/interest factor. But it is cute and drawn well so especially for people newer to the genre I think it's worth a read. For me personally, I wouldn't buy a physical copy or re-read this and I probably won't remember it in the future.
This was quite a cute read, with nice artwork, but... I feel like it was maybe too short, the ending was a bit sudden, their feelings weren't explored enough for my taste. I wanted more and there was room and potential for a lot more.
Took me a while to get through this because, truthfully, I admit I forgot about it. The art was nice. The story and characters were perfectly nice. It just didn't say much of anything new to me.

I liked this cute, wholesome manga. It is a cool connection between their names, I really liked that.
Not much happens here, but still very cute.
A cute, fun, light read if you need to cleanse your palette or get to out of a slump. The art style is so pretty!
The k you NetGalley for this for a e-arc of this manga. This was so cute and sweet ♥️ A perfect moment of relaxation for a quick little reading And fun time. The drawings are beautiful and the story is amazing. I’m not always in manga but sometimes it’s perfect for a break of my brain. Falling in love in high school, storyline unique, first love, slow brun. All it takes to Warm my heart🥰
I loved this manga! It is a high school first romance coming of age story and it is very easy going and chill. No drama. No internal homophobia. I really enjoyed it. And the spin on the names of the characters being related to number 8 (sort of making them fated to meet) was very cute.

This was a very cute slice of life BL manga. The main character Eighto makes friends with Hachi and it’s their bond thru having number names that they come together. I really enjoyed the simplicity of them coming together and realizing their feeling for each other.
Of course, they start out as friends, but it doesn’t take long for them to realize they want more then friendship.
The art style is very nice I like how all the characters are drawn.
This is a good BL story. It doesn’t feel rushed or awkward at any point in the story. I haven’t read a nice simple slice of life in a while that flowed in this way where not only was it believable but also so wholesome.
The drawing is amazing. The story is soft and cute, following two young man seeing their love blossom. It's sweet, friendly and lovely, however it's a bit too short. I felt that we only just started and then poof. Done. I wish more things happened between the two and that their relationship was more developped.
A decent manga that switches up the little things to differentiate itself from the pack, but still fits safely into the common tropes of these slice-of-life romances. I think it is played a bit too safe and close to those tropes to be really interesting. It is all competently done but if you've read any other manga in this genre you've already seen it done and better.
I'm so sorry to say that this kind of book is absolutely not my style. I couldn't get through it, but the blurb sounds awesome. Don't let my review affect your decision to read this book!
2.5 stars. The connection of how they become closer (the number eight) was cool. Their relationship is cute. The art is well drawn. Overall, the plot is the repetitive slice of life seen in many of these mangas.
