A Wedding in the Sun by Leonie Mack is the perfect escapism from the real world.
This was another wonderful story from Leonie Mack.
I love the way she creates her characters. They are realistic and fun. I just adored them.
I enjoyed the characters, the setting and of course her writing.
Overall, this story was a nice light-hearted read.
There are many heart-warming moments.
Thank You NetGalley and Publisher for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
A sweet, light hearted, enemies to lovers story. When traveling to see their respective exes get married to each other, the last thing that person Jo wants to see is Adrian. She cannot stand him even a little bit. When their travel plans go awry, they get stuck together in the last hotel room available after the airline thought they were together as they’d been speaking to each other. Considering she’d prefer to not even be in the same country as him, being stuck together in such close quarters is not in any way helping her to not want to kill him and her ex, but they persist to get to the wedding for their respective children's sake. It’s an enjoyable laugh out loud, easy to read, romantic comedy with of course the inevitable happily ever after. This was my first by this author, but won’t be my last.
This book had everything in it to keep me turning the pages. This is a perfect beach read book for the summer.
Jo and Adrian are heading to a wedding they really do not want to be going to, that is for their exes! Never did they imagine the adventure they were going on to have to get to this wedding.
I really liked this book and I highly recommend it to everyone who needs a book that gives you joy to read.
Thank you NetGalley, Leonie Mack and Boldwood Books for the copy of th book A Wedding in the Sun. This is my personal review.
Short synopsis: Attending her ex-husband’s wedding in Spain is the last thing that Jo wants to do but for her children’s sake, she reluctantly goes. Jo discovers that she is on the same plane as Monica’s ex husband, Adrian. To make matters worse, a storm diverts the plane stranding Jo and Adrian in a hotel with only one bed. As Jo works along side Adrian, to try to get to the wedding, she finds it hard to ignore Adrian’s charm and wonders if fate has different plans.
Thoughts: This book is a dual POV full of adventure and humour. If you’re a fan of a slow burn romance, this is the book for you! This is my first book by Leonie Mack and it most definitely won’t be my last.
Thank you Net Galley for an advanced ready copy in exchange for my honest review.
In A Wedding In The Sun by Leeanny Mac we meet Joe who is flying out to Spain to reunite with her children who are with their dad getting ready for his marriage To fiancé Monica. When she sees Monica‘s ex Arianne also flying out of London to Spain she does her best to avoid him no one on earth could irritate her more than this loud hairy chested gold necklace wearing corny joke telling Arion but when their flight makes an emergency landing in their only option is to drive she finds herself in the car with him. After mini beach side lunches, five days of traveling,, two hospitals and a visit to a police station somehow this loud man has turned into a caring handsome father who she looks to in the crowd to make her feel calmer Will it be enough for her to let The anger of her first marriage go and how can she explain this man to deck and Liz who are already confused by their dad‘s upcoming nuptials? This book was so good and as she started to see how absolutely sexy Arion was I could see it as well this was such a great book I loved it I love Joe I wish it would have been a movie so we could’ve seen Arianne play and hear him sing either way this was a great book a totally awesome beach read and if you love great romance then you’ll definitely not want to miss this one it was so freaking good! I want to thank bold load books for my free arc copy via NetGalley please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
This is such a fun summery story with some great characters and a lovely setting for the story. It was all so well described that I felt like i was right there. I also enjoyed that the characters were a little older and showed they were still fun!
So this is the story of Jo and Adrian who end up on a road trip together to get to the wedding of Ben and Monica. Sounds lovely? well no not exactly because Ben is Jo's ex husband and Monica is Adrians ex wife. So when bad weather means the plane has to land and they end up on a road trip together it just all goes down hill! This story is just so much fun and I really enjoyed Jo and Adrians journey and watching them get through so many scrapes together!
Highly Recommend!
Leonie's writing really just keeps getting better and better. I loved every minute of this story and could not wait to see what would happen next. Jo was such an easy to love character and very relatable. Her kids mean the world to her and that is why she finds herself travelling to her ex husband's wedding in Spain where her kids are. On the way there everything seems to go wrong and she finds herself travelling with Adrian, the ex of the woman her ex is about to marry. I love how when the story started they were enemies, could barely stand each other, but how that then completely changed as they got to know each other. Leonie really pulled out all the tricks. I kept thinking, okay now everything really has gone wrong, what more could possibly happen? I was surprised again and again and found myself rushing through the story, laughing out loud at times and anxious to see what would happen next and also really keen to see Jo reunited with her kids and to find out more about Adrian's kid and of course also to see the actual wedding and what would happen to Jo and Adrian once they were no longer on the road trip. Everything went wrong but Jo and Adrian really ended up making the best of it and that was uplifting and heartwarming to see.
Overall a brilliant story that was packed full of everything I needed to make me smile, laugh out loud and feel uplifted.
I had so much fun with A Wedding in the Sun, or rather, A Gazillion Accidents in the Sun. Literally everything that could go wrong, did go wrong in this book, and it was so entertaining. I'll be honest, when everything goes wrong in a book that often really frustrates me, but here, I loved seeing the way Jo and Adrián handled everything and how every accident and misstep made their connection grow. Both of these characters felt incredibly real - not romanticized, but like actual people who might remind you of people you know. This is the perfect funny, relaxing read to put on your summer TBR.
I always love Leonie Mack's books, and this one is no different. This was such a lovely binge worthy read.
What was supposed to be a relatively short trip landed up by taking forrrevvver. I loved every disaster that kept happening to Adrian and Jo. It was such a comedy of errors. Each new disaster had me going through so many emotions, from laughing to cringing ( and feeling sorry for) to swooning.
From despising - (or not knowing but having preconceived notions) to gradually falling in love, then having to attend the wedding of their exes who are marrying each other.

This is my first time reading Leonie’s book and I really enjoy it! The plot, the 4 exes, the roadtrip, descripyuon places, excellent writing! The perfect summer reading, you can’t put it down! If you like enemies to lovers trope, you must read this book!
I absolutely adored the premise of this book!
The exes of the exes getting married wind up together. Strange? Yes, but it makes for an interesting plot.
Adrián and Jo have the trip from hell trying to get to this wedding and their escapades had me in stitches.
There was also closure with their respective exes and their kids were figuring stuff out.
It’s a feel good read that demonstrates family messiness but also togetherness as well.
Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Two ex-partners are on route to attend their ex’s wedding in Spain. They meet on the plane, and everything that can go wrong from that point on does.
The story made you laugh at what happens to Jo and Adrian.
I highly recommend this book.
Each book I read by Leonie Mack feels like a new favourite, and A Wedding in the Sun is one of her best. The construction is whip-smart, and the characters are terrific. I could easily picture them as the story unfolded and feel myself relaxing into the hilarious twists and turns.
Jo is a fiercely independent woman who has emerged from divorce with a determination that is impossible to challenge. She is just about ready for another relationship, although walking away from her husband almost broke her. Her life is now organised to ensure everything runs like clockwork and her children come first. She certainly doesn't need the laid-back attitude of the ex-husband of her ex's new bride. She finds him to be unreliable and irritating beyond belief.
The events that started with a seemingly straightforward flight had me in stitches as I eagerly flipped the pages. I could easily envision this story on the big screen, with Jo and Adrián's antics providing endless laughter. As they navigated from one chaotic situation to the next, their witty banter was perfectly timed, and the growing attraction between them was palpable.
Adrián, with his rugged good looks, laidback demeanour, and charming Spanish accent, had me swooning from the start. He was the epitome of a perfect book boyfriend, unflappable even in the face of adversity. But beneath his cool exterior, it was clear that his son's happiness was his top priority, adding a layer of depth to his character that was truly endearing.
I just loved the characters in this book; even the prospective bride and groom were ultimately likeable, even though Monica was not a hit with Jo's daughter! I particularly enjoyed the visit with Carles, Adrián's mentor in the art of Spanish guitar. Such kind people are a rare treat, and I loved meeting them.
If you fancy an entertaining trip across a couple of European countries, some hilarious moments and a real enemies-to-lovers story, A Wedding in the Sun will tick all your boxes. I cannot recommend it more highly.
Jo is travelling to Spain to attend her ex-husband's wedding to Monica, only to find that she was on the same flight as Monica's ex-husband, who was also attending the wedding. Things start going downhill soon after.
In the old days this would be called a farce, not in a bad way, due to all the things that go wrong on the journey. They start off fairly antagonistic towards each other, however are forced to reevaluate as one disaster follows another. It is one of those books where you want to bang the two main character's heads together as they won't admit their feelings to each other, but life is very messy with ex in-laws, step siblings and the looming prospect of the wedding that neither of them really want to go to. Some unbelievable, funny moments with that touch of romance bubbling away underneath this is a good poolside read.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.
Swooney swoon! Another book of the amazing Leonie Mack’s that has blown me away! Thanks to the publisher for the advance review copy.
This is the story of Jo and Adrian, whose respective spouses are getting married. Neither are particularly enamoured with each other, and so aren’t thrilled when their paths crossed en route to the wedding.
And so it begins, a trip that covers many modes of transport as both decide to join forces to get to the children waiting for them at the stunning wedding location.
Leonie Mack’s books are always cinematic, vivid and vibrant and as alive as any rom com movie and this book had it all- the scene absolutely set, the perfect of two characters who learned so much about themselves and each other on their journey, the intricacies of language, music and culture, the sparkling romance somehow inter tangled with en pointe comedy. Fantastic!
I absolutely love a good Leonie Mack book and this one has the added bonus of being set in Spain. I love the chemistry between Adrian and Jo the exes of Ben and Monica who are getting married. Adrian and Jo end up getting stranded on their way to their exes weddings where their children are staying and have to make their way back. I love the slow burn of Adrian and Jo becoming friends and then kissing (eek) and then when they get to their children they have to keep their feelings secret.
I love love love this book so much

A Wedding in the Sun by Leonie Mack is a quick and enjoyable read that will make the perfect addition to your beach bag this summer.
Jo is making her way to Spain for her ex-husband's wedding when she discovers that she is sharing a flight with the bride to be's ex, Adrian. When circumstances beyond their control necessitate a shared road trip, the two reluctant wedding guests are thrown together in a series of capers and mishaps that will have them getting more intimately acquainted by the moment. It was not what either was looking for, but has fate intervened to offer a second chance at love?
This is a lighthearted romantic comedy that is sure to hit the mark for fans of the author, though for me it often felt a tad too chaotic. Nonetheless, if you are seeking a pleasant poolside read, you will not be disappointed. 3.5 stars
Many thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC.
Four exes and a wedding. Jo is going to Spain for her ex husband wedding. She isn't thrilled about it. To top it off, Adrian the ex husband of the bride is also attending the wedding. Jo and Adrian have a past of their own. So when the the flight they are on gets rerouted they have to work together to get to the wedding. I loved both Jo and Adrian. They were both great characters. I loved the banter between them. It was a fun and entertaining read. I enjoyed the beautiful descriptions of the gorgeous countryside. This book just made me happy. It was a perfect summer read.
Leonie Mack is quickly becoming one of my go to authors. She writes rom-com so very well. This book had me laughing out loud throughout.
We meet Jo Watters who is at the airport on the way to her ex husband Bens, wedding. She is totally dreading the trip but is going to show solidarity to join their two children who are already on in the Pyrenees anxiously awaiting her arrival. At the airport she happens to bump into handsome but equally cantankerous Adrián, who, would you believe is the ex husband of Monica, who is about to marry her ex husband Ben, The pair have met previous and disliked each other immediately. When the plane they board for the wedding hits a storm and has to make a detour, the pair embark on a road trip together that goes from disaster to disaster. Due to their shared trauma of not wonting to attend the wedding, but wanting to be there to support their children, they decide to get along and get back to them as soon as possible.
This book was so funny, and anything that could go wrong did. I have to admit I didn't really get the chemistry between Jo and Adrián it seems to burn hot and fizzle out often, but the whole story kept me invested as to what was going to happen next and how it would be an awful situation to be stuck in. Another great read from Leonie Mack.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
First I want to say thank you to Netgalley, Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the opportunity to be selected to read and review an Advanced Reader’s copy of this novel by Leonie Mack. This is my first novel by Leonie and I think it will not be my last. This was a sweet, fun, enemies to lovers, romantic comedy.
This story had me laughing out loud pretty quickly, and I felt that it was a perfect representation of how this situation of two enemies being forced into the situation they were would go. Adrian and Monica both find themselves on a plane to the same country for the same wedding that neither of them wish to attend. Leonie crafted together a hilarious road trip gone wrong, with two individuals whom cannot deny their chemistry and connection for one another much longer. The tension, and banter were absolutely hilarious and kept me engaged the entire time. I did not want this novel to end, and had a huge book hangover for a bit after.
If you like a fake dating, enemies to lovers or road trip romance this is a MUST try!
