I always enjoy this author’s books. They are all different as she creates a new world in each book, and new characters, rather than doing what some others do and simply regurgitate her first creations.

Leonie has the gift of always creating such enticing and fabulous characters who engage one’s interest and emotions from the outset.

Her settings are always amazing and so beautifully realised that you truly feel you are there with the characters, taking in the sights, smells, sounds and textures of the area in which she’s set her stories. In this case, France and Spain were so real - I definitely felt I was there with Jo and Adrian..

I absolutely adored Jo and Adrian - what a fabulous couple. Watching them rid themselves of their initial, poor impressions of each other and spend time together which allowed them to get to know one another ( and for us to know them), and fall in love in front of our eyes.

Leonie touches on modern life with the complications of divorce, step children, family relations, identity, resilience et al in a way which enlarges our understanding and broadens our understanding.

An absolute delight. Cannot recommend this enough.

This was an absolutely brilliant feel good read. Two x husband and wife are going to their x’s wedding in Spain. They meet on a plane. It is so funny at times. You have three children thrown in and so many twists to get everyone to the wedding. The two main characters are fab. The best feel good book I have read in ages. Oscar the 7 year old is just a perfect character. You will laugh out loud.so much. A perfect ending too. Read it.

I really enjoyed this lovely story. The main characters are traveling to the wedding of their respective exes, and chaos ensues! Through the ups and downs, they get to know one another better and despite the crazy circumstances, fall in love. I appreciate that more and more relationship novels are featuring characters who are in their late 30s-40s-50s. More relatable and interesting! This is a fun read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for providing this book, with my honest review below.

A Wedding in the Sun was a great book for transporting you with the characters on an adventure, as well as getting caught up in their quirky circumstances. Jo and Adrian are both heading to their ex spouses’ wedding to one another in Spain when they get caught in a storm and spend several days getting to their destination. With a back story back in England of their own and the added tension of their relationships with their exes and kids, there’s a lot to dive into during their journey. A romance soon unfolds but it’s very much mixed into the hijinks they get into and some more serious personal development.

This was a great escapist read that was made more enjoyable by endearing characters in Jo and Adrian. I loved that Leonie Mack brought the reader into each setting with her writing and created a flawed but realistic cast of characters that readers could connect with. Recommended for those who love romance (not the everything is perfect sort, but that peppered with real life conflicts) and travel. I would recommend this being read on an e-reader if you’re not a Spanish speaker. While the Spanish words and phrases are minimal compared to the duration of the book, there are pieces where I used my translate feature to have a seamless read.

I've read a few of Leoni Mack's books, and I love the feel-good factor and armchair travel involved, as well as the hefty dose of romance and tension within.
A Wedding In The Sun is no different in those areas, but there is a totally different kind of enemies-to-lovers/forbidden love scene going on here.
We are given a dual POV of Jo and Adrián, two people being forced to go to the wedding of their exes to one another, and a calamitous journey that should have taken a couple of hours lasts days, with so many unfortunate incidents peppered throughout, including a storm, lost luggage, a lift with Godspeed bikers, hospitals, the police, that it is a miracle that they arrive at their final destination!
But you come to love Jo, a woman of a certain age who has finally realised she needs closure and to learn to live for herself, too.
And Adrián would light a fire under anyone, let's be honest. A Spanish longhaired hunky dude who plays guitar and is a fantastically loving father, on top.
Throw in two temperamental teens and a young child who is filled with confusion, seeing his divorced parents develop different lives adds more layers.
Oh, and the fiery Catalonian temperament of the Spanish family gives it a good sprinkle of heat, too!
Beautiful descriptions of the different places they have to stay, as well as the simmering tension between the two, make this a fantastic read.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC.
