Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a digital copy of this book!
Cute short read. It reminds kids that sometimes you have to take a jump for the biggest blessing. Though I will say that the book does need a good edit before going to final print. There was some punctuation errors littered in the book that definitely needs to be addressed.
I do also wish we got more from the POV of Little Hawk before abruptly being pushed out of the nest. The POV of the narration changed too much for a short children’s book.
Little Hawk. Is a beautiful story about growing up and learning to fly, no matter how scary it seems you trust in your ability to succeed, loved the encouragement from the mother hawk. Beautiful artwork
Tough love is not always given to kids. Hawk to teach little hawk to fly there is no small talk just do it and fly. Anxiety and fear do not have place for survival
This is a cute book about a baby hawk learning to fly. The message in the book is to trust your parents. I liked how the end of the book gave facts about hawks.

Little hawk is scared to take the leap out of the next and fly even though mum is supportive, shares her love and asks little hawk to trust her. It finally takes a big shove. The book is cute and is full of images of little hawk, the nest and the huge tree that the family live in and fly off from. Each page is covered in the art work, although as hawks and trees and nests are brown, the colour palette is limited to green and brown sadly!
This is such a cute adorable quick children’s book, but I thought it was so cute and so fun. It teaches children to trust a parents even if they are everything in their hands. I also absolutely love the art style in this and I would hundred percent recommend this was so fun, so quick to read to children is really good and I would recommend
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. It's time for Little Hawk and her siblings to learn to fly. One by one mama hawk pushes them out of the nest. Little Hawk is very scared but must trust her mother.
The Little Hawk: Join the Exciting Journey: A Delightful Adventure for Girls and Boys Ages 4-7. A wonderful picture book for kids.
by Kat LeFay
Little hawk needs to do the next step and fly on her own. But it is scary to do things the first time. Like children it's difficult to do new things you don't know until you try.
Thank you Turn Leaf Publishing for accepting my request to read and review The Little Hawk on NetGalley.

The story centers on a nest of Hawks learning to fly. The illustrations were okay, nothing over-the-top, simple. I found the story unsettling. I imagined reading to a small child that a mother was pushing her babies out of a nest that was high up in a tree while one hung on and begged her to stop and was disturbed. The author's trust me, I love you sent shivers through me.
A sweet book about a baby bird learning to fly and their mother knowing what’s best for them and teaching them about life. The facts at the end of the book are easy to understand for kids of young ages.
A sweet little, well illustrated story, with affitional hawk facts at the end. Little Hawk loves life in the nest with her siblings then one day mumma hawk starts pushing them out. Little hawk is terrified but mummy says it's okay. Little hawk was pushed will she learn to face her fears and fly?
A great book on showing children how to trust and face one's fears.
I had so much fun reading The Little Hawk. Kat LeFay has an utterly beautiful book with an admittedly humorous and uplifting story that will likely send readers through a flurry of emotions as they watch this fearful baby Hawk face one of the greatest challenges of her life. This is a metaphor for growing up in general that I’m sure many children reading or having this book read to them will not fully understand at the time they are introduced to the gorgeous illustrations of this story. But it is one that will, I am sure, sit with them when they grow older.
Preparing children at a young age, in appropriate ways, for the challenges they are sure to experience in life is a continuous job that parents face through the entirety of their children’s youth. And I can say with confidence that this is a phenomenal book to read to your kids. While I wouldn’t go as far as agreeing with the final line, that the mother’s love is what truly made the young bird fly, it is certainly something that aids in developing those wings to be able to hold the weight necessary to succeed in one’s endeavors.
I loved this and I think a great many others will, too.
Poor little hawk! He wants to fly, but he wants to learn from the ground. The little hawk watches as, one by one, his siblings are pushed from the nest. Frightened, he tries to cling to the nest, but his mother pushes him out. His wings spread and he soars! And there are his brothers and sisters! His mother did love him and want the best for him.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this cute story, with its cute pictures and extra information about hawks at the end.
The little hawk: 4 stars. This book is a nice children's book with a story about baby hawks learning to fly one day. The images are nice and the story shows that by trusting their mum, the baby hawks can do anything even if they are scared like the little hawk. One question may be where did the mum go after they learnt to fly? Or was that the point of the story they learnt to fly and that was their mum's way of letting them go into the world. Overall this is a pleasant book to read and I feel any child would enjoy this once they knew all the baby hawks were safe 🌟🌟🌟🌟
