An interesting story of the Uyghur people. I have only ever studied this group’s Islamic history so to find out that there is a Buddhist side to the Uyghurs was fascinating. The author broke down the story of the Uyghurs very well and I am glad to have been able to read this.

Uyghur history, culture, and religion is often treated in academia much as it is in politics and society; as a minority or footnote, despite being vibrant and plentiful in much of the eastern hemisphere. This book shines a much overdue light onto a segment of Buddhism that deserves its place in academia just as much as every other iteration of a major world religion.
