I have not read the first in the series but I still enjoyed this book. I know next to nothing about hockey but that is irrelevant in the big romantic picture of the book.

Eloise is a very talkative character, but is the kind of lead protagonist who has substance behind her words. She is given the task of being the person to help the latest member of the hockey team acclimatize to the new city and team. It's a role that was made up but it suits our lead very well.

The attraction between the two is pretty strong and immediate but the two characters independently grow during the narration and this helps cement the idea of them as a couple.

I like stories with strong background characters and plot points. I was actively championing both to reach their own personal goals while they struggled with their feelings for each other.

It is a quick story while still managing to be emotional at the right moments. I would definitely recommend this book and author to fans of the genre.

I received an ARC thanks to Netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.

My Lucky Charm is the second book in the Holidays With Hart series. The book dives into a charming and heartwarming grumpy/sunshine romance set against the backdrop of Chicago and its beloved hockey team, the Chicago Comets.

Eloise, who has just faced a humiliating breakup and finds herself impulsively kissing a stranger on New Year’s Eve. Little does she know, that stranger is Grayson Hawke, the reclusive and seemingly rude star player recently traded to the Comets. Tasked with helping Grayson acclimate to life in Chicago as part of her new job, she must navigate the awkwardness of their unexpected connection while trying to prove herself after a career setback.

Despite their stark differences—she's talkative and loves people, while Gray is quiet, brooding, and laser-focused on his hockey career—the more time they spend together, the more she sees the layers beneath his gruff exterior. As she starts to fall for him, staying professional becomes increasingly difficult, especially when she realizes that the man everyone thinks Grayson is might not be who he truly is.

Tropes
- Grumpy/Sunshine
- Hockey Romance
- Opposites Attract
- Sweet Romance
- Minimum spice

The book delivers a delightful, feel-good romance in "My Lucky Charm." The grumpy/sunshine trope is executed perfectly, with well-drawn characters that make you root for their happiness. The dynamic between the bubbly heroine and the grumpy hockey player is engaging and full of heart, with plenty of moments that will make readers smile.

The Chicago setting, especially the focus on the city's hockey scene, adds depth to the story, making it more than just a romance but also a tale of personal growth and finding one’s place in a new environment. The humour and light-hearted moments balance the emotional journey of the characters, resulting in a satisfying read.

It is a perfect read for fans of sweet romances, especially those who enjoy the grumpy/sunshine dynamic and a sports setting. Although it's part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone. Courtney Walsh’s charming storytelling and lovable characters make this a must-read for anyone looking for a heartwarming love story with all the sizzle and none of the steam.

I absolutely adored this book! 5 stars! Eloise and Gray are wonderful FMC and MMC. The character development throughout the story is great! It is a sweet, funny, grumpy X sunshine plot that readers will LOVE. I am not a big sports fan but still was fully invested in the story. I found myself smiling throughout most of the book and could not put it down. I finished it in two days and immediately bought the first title from the series. The only part that I somewhat did not like is the sister, Raya. She touches a nerve with me, and I just cannot get myself to like her. I am hoping if she gets her own story that my view will change once I am able to get more backstory on her. Definitely recommending this one to readers and cannot wait for future releases from Courtney Walsh.

All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC to review.

I don’t know how she manages to find the perfect balance of heartfelt swoon but this author always does it exactly right. Eloise is sunshine to the grumpy hockey player she is now working with and totally has her work cut out for her. Gray is grumpy. Or is he.

I love me a hockey book and when you throw in a hockey player it’s next level. This author really knows how to bring a swoony romance without the spice and my heart was all in! Watching the growth in Eloise and how it connected her to Gray was just swoony.

Highly recommend to those who love a happily ever after with plenty of heart.

I loved the connection between Eloise and Gray growing throughout the book. Gray has a hard time communicating his feelings and Eloise was able to help him break down those walls. His daughter Scarlett was the cutest! I can’t wait for the next Hart sister’s book!

This was my first time delving into Courtney Walsh's work, and it was truly delightful. I was immediately captivated by characters like Gray and his grumpy demeanor. I love a grumpy/sunshine character. Eloise, on the other hand, left a profound impression on me with her remarkable ability to see the good in others. She also made me laugh too. I loved Eloise's refusal to give up on those she loves. Eloise experienced significant self-discovery and personal growth from start to finish. The chemistry between Gray and Eloise was truly magnetic, making the Story all the more compelling.

This Story is for you if you like Grumpy/Sunshine, Hockey Romance, and Single Dads.

Love Always, Catherine

Here’s the thing. I absolutely ADORE Courtney Walsh’s writing and would pick up literally anything she writes, including her grocery list. So it really is no surprise that I absolutely LOVED this charming rom-com! Every last bit of this book from beginning to end was perfect. I chuckled a bunch, teared up some, and oh how I swooned over so much of it. I couldn’t get enough of the main characters (hello, grumpy hockey player) and was so sad to leave them at the end of the story. They stole my heart! I really don’t want to spoil anything here whatsoever as I went into this one blind and loved seeing the story develop with no clue what was to come, so I’ll be skimpy on the details. But I was pleasantly surprised at the depth that was in this story as it looked at family, career, and romantic relationships and how they all fit together. Courtney Walsh stands out as such a talented writer as her rom-coms go deeper than what you might expect for the genre, while still keeping it light. The perfect balance between melt your heart romance and meaningful, rich plot points. My Lucky Charm was a swoon-worthy (CLEAN - closed door) romance full of heart and charm. Perfect to read on a beach day or anytime you just need an easy, sweet read. I can’t recommend it enough!

Oh my heart! I loved this hockey romance with all-the-feels, great banter, characters with depth, and romance with chemistry! I know that hockey has become a popular theme lately in the sweet romance genre, and Courtney Walsh caught that wave early on, setting the bar for those to follow. Her characters are vibrant and the story plays like a movie in my head- but better than any I've seen lately! Grayson is one tough nut, but we get to see the why as his layers are peeled back. Eloise is up for the challenge, and I loved her optimistic cheerfulness that was a little naive but never annoying. The little random ways Grayson and Eloise connect with each other are fun and endearing. The sense of family- both related and found- brought a foundation of belonging and loyalty, even for those who find themselves floundering. For sports fans and non-sports fans alike, the hockey element brought intensity, drive, and a dynamic setting without taking over the romance and relationship focus. The author balanced it perfectly and hit that sweet spot. This is a series I plan to re-read, and I can't wait for more!!!

My Lucky Charm is a lighthearted romcom with a grumpy guy and sunshine girl! This is book 2 of the Hart sister’s series and hopefully we’ll see a book 3 with Raya’s happily ever after! I requested this book as an ARC, so of course I need to read My Phony Valentine first and I instantly fell in love with all the characters and their storylines. I highly recommend this book, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

My Lucky Charm by Courtney Walsh is a charming and heartwarming romance that will leave you feeling gooey inside. The story follows a woman who, after a humiliating breakup, shares a New Year's kiss with a complete stranger. Little does she know that the stranger is actually a star player on the Chicago Comets hockey team, and she is about to become his personal assistant.

Grayson Hawke is the rudest and most reclusive guy she's ever met, but the protagonist is determined to prove herself after her last job went up in flames. As she helps Grayson acclimate to life in Chicago, she starts to see that there's more to him than meets the eye. The more time she spends with him, the more she starts to fall for him, despite their differences in personality and interests.

Courtney Walsh has created a world that is both whimsical and grounded in reality, and her characters are relatable and lovable. The novel is a testament to the fact that sometimes the people we initially dislike are the ones who end up surprising us the most. The chemistry between the two protagonists is palpable, and the tension between them will keep you turning the pages.

Overall, My Lucky Charm is a delightful and heartwarming romance that will leave you feeling happy and satisfied. Courtney Walsh has created a story that is both engaging and emotionally resonant, and her characters are complex and relatable. If you're looking for a feel-good romance to curl up with on a rainy day, then this is the book for you.
