Another great page-turner from Harlan Coben. When you want a twisting thriller, this is the writer you turn to.
I romped through the novel and enjoyed it immensely. Wasn't sure of the characters at first, as I'm not familiar with the leads, but soon got into the story, which involves murder, double crosses, friendship and family ties.
Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for an advance reader copy of the book. Now waiting for the next thriller to grab me!
Harlan Coben never lets us readers down, another brilliant book in the series leaving you on tenterhooks in multiple places about what comes next...
Not having read any of the Myron & Win books in the series I did find the continual references to previous books jarring. The book works as a stand alone novel but I don't believe it was a 'thriller'. I did find the plot a little confusing but enjoyed the book when all the 'loose ends' were tied.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK for the advance cop[y of this book.
At first I really thought I’d dislike the book because I didn’t understand the plot. However as the book went on and the story became more known, I really enjoyed how the book played out.
The last chunk of the book had me hooked. Myron continuously found detail after detail until it was down to the flight or fight response vibe.
I did not expect the ending to be the ending… it was over but it wasn’t over! I throughly enjoyed the ending of the book and makes you think that people who are innocent may not be innocent.
I’ll always jump at the chance of reading a new Harlan Coben thriller. I’ve read a few of his novels before, but this was my first encounter with Myron Bolitar.
The FBI turn up at Myron’s door asking if he and Win (Windor Horne-Lockwood III, Myron’s best friend) know that Greg Downing, a past rival and client of MB Reps, believed dead is still alive and has been implicated in a mother-son murder. As Greg is still a client, and with a lot of past history under the bridge, Myron decides to follow up.
It becomes clear there is more to it than just this murder, and with some intel from PT, their FBI contact, it appears there is a serial killer on the loose.
I really enjoyed the book, and it kept me guessing who was setting up the murders. I will seek out more books with Myron and Win; I enjoyed their banter, they made me laugh. And also enjoyed the banter between Myron and his wife Terese.
With thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
The two chief characters of this book, Myron and Win, are new to me but I believe their partnership was formed in previous novels by Harlan Coben. It's a very entertaining read and the two guys almost have a double act of wit and repartee. However, as a thriller it did not cut the mustard with me. I shall judge it purely for entertainment only.
Coben excels again. fast paced, twists and turns abound.
This book draws you into the life of Bolitar, both before as a sports agent and laterally as just a good man, who treats the law as all abiding.
Double cross not by one person but 2 people come to light.
Justice for the falsely accused to a great extent.
Thank you Netgalley for letting me read this book.
Harlan Coben returns to his Myron Bolitar series for his latest offering, a Bolitar married to lawyer Terese, who once again resurrects MB Reps, working with his long running partner and close friend, Win, both men getting visibly older, and all the attendant issues associated with this process. Life turns upside down when 2 FBI agents visit, wanting to know where his ex-client and the well known coach, Greg Downing, is. Strange, as 3 years ago Bolitar had delivered an eulogy at Greg's funeral, why on earth are the FBI hunting a dead man? It appears that Greg's DNA has been found at the scene of a double murder, of the Callisters, 52 year old supermodel, Cecilia, and her 30 year old son, Clay, at their mansion.
Of course, Bolitar cannot resist looking into this, he and Greg have one hell of a troubled history, rivals, with personal connections, Emily Downing was his first love, Greg was a devoted father to Jeremy, Bolitar's biological son, prior to his disappearance and 'death'. His and Win's investigations are to put him in the gravest of dangers, and his fragile and elderly parents, Al and Ellen, now residing in Florida, Jeremy, who returns from military operations, and Terese, who brings his attention to her case and client, Jackie Newton, find themselves caught up in his inquiries. Interspersed in the narrative is the POV of an intelligent, below the radar, well organised, methodical, and patient serial killer.
It is a joy to be reacquainted with a raft of familiar characters, such as the glamorous, brash, in your face, wearing her tight black batgirl constume, ex-wrestler Big Cyndi, and Esperanza, who having qualified as a lawyer, is partner in another firm in the same building, inevitably becomes involved. Nothing is as it appears in this nail biting thriller, with its surprising twists and turns that drive the story to its gut punch of conclusion, with a Bolitar who only slowly begins to get an inkling as to just how personal matters will become. This is an exciting, tense and suspenseful read, a great addition to the series, with its complex plotting, it had me gripped from start to finish. Fans of the author, along with new readers, are likely to greatly enjoy this. Many thanks to the publisher for an ARC.
This is classic Coben. You know what you’re going to get when you pick up a Harken Coben title and yet again, this is everything I hoped for. It’s well paced, with the tension building and plenty of twists on the way. I love the Bolitar character and he’s developing well. Coben really delivers a master class in thriller writing because plotting, pace, characters and dialogue are all superb. He makes it look so easy as you whip through page after page, immersed in the chase for truth. This is another belting story.
Harlan coben!! He's done it again!! Absolutely brilliant gripping story. 2 people have been murdered, but the DNA at the Frome scene is from an old client of Myron bolitars, Greg, but Greg died years ago...didn't he? Myrons on the hunt for Greg and so is the FBI, could he still he alive? More murders, a possible serial killer who is setting up innocent people to take the blame and go down for the murders. Can Myron, win and Esperanza figure out who's behind it all without getting hurt themselves.
Absolutely recommend this book.
Thank you netgalley for the arc of this book in exchange for my honest review
A fantastic next installment of the Myron Bolitar series that definitely doesn't disappoint!
As an huge Harlan Coben fan I couldn't wait to read his latest Myron Bolitar book. It was a fast paced entertaining thriller. I love the characters of Myron and Win. They they are very different but compliment eachother and make a great team.
My only disappointment is that I figured it out before I reached the end, but that took very little away from my enjoyment of the storyline and how well it was written.
Harlan Coben is an incredible thriller writer and I'd highly recommend this book and his previous works.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I LOVED this read.
This is book 12 in the Myron Bolitar and Win Horne Lockwood series. However, although it's great to have read them all, you don't need to. This stands alone as an excellent, gripping, thriller of a read.
Myron is a former basketball star who has restarted his agency for sports stars and celebrities. Then, the FBI question him about some high profile murders and the fact that the DNA from one of Myron's previous clients (who is dead) has been found at the scene.
What follows starts slowly and increases in tension and suspense and as always with this excellent author, there is humour and pathos throughout. The characters are so well drawn and the threads of the story all come together in a fabulous ending.
I literally couldn't stop reading and loved it.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for the opportunity to preview this excellent read.
A classic Harlan Coben novel with a twisty plot! This is one of a series- number 12 in the Myron Bolitar series- but happily stands alone- I hadn’t read the others. Myron had been to a funeral of a former client and friend, Greg, a while back but when there is a murder and his deceased friend's DNA is found at the crime scene things take on a different turn. As he starts to look into this, more murders with a similar MO crop up. Is Greg still alive or is someone using his profile to confuse the investigation?
This is a gritty, classic Harlan Coban read where the reader is led astray more than once. It's a complex plot, well written and thought out. I wouldn't expect anything less from an author of Harlan’s calibre. I wish I'd started at the beginning of the series as I feel there is so much more to know about Myron and Win- the one who often saves the day. An investigative thriller in every sense of the word. Another classic from the master that is HC.

Another book in Harlan Coben’s Myron Bolitar series - not read any of these before but this can be read as a stand alone book.
Myron has a sports agency, and when he finds out that a client that he thought was dead, Greg Downing, seems to reappear and is involved in a murder, he joins forces with his friend and attorney Win Lockwood (who seems to have a never-ending supply of contacts and resources) to find him.
As they start looking into Greg there seems to be a number of other murders with similar MOs. Is there a serial killer on the loose, and is Myron next?
A good easy read. - fans of Coben will enjoy it.
Thanks to #Netgalley for the DRC
Thanks to Netgalley and Random House Cornerstone for the ARC of this book.
I quite enjoyed reading this book but I didn’t love it. Took a bit of time to get used to the characters and the unusual American names made it a bit harder. The relationship between Myron and Win is somewhat unusual but works so well.
Harlan Coben always writes such fantastic books that are different and standout but this one wasn’t for me.
When the FBI approaches Myron Bolitar enquiring about the whereabouts of one of his clients he doesn’t even have to think about the answer. His client, Greg Downing, has been dead for three years. The FBI thinks differently and wants to speak to him about a recent double murder.
The Myron Bolitar series was my introduction to Harlan Coben’s writing almost thirty years ago and since then I’ve followed the ins and outs of Myron Bolitar. My only real complaint about the series is that there aren’t more books, maybe the scarcity of books is one of the reasons I love the series so much. Needless to say, I was pleased to get my hands on book 12, Think Twice.
All of the familiar characters feature in Think Twice, along with some of the minor ones who’ve been part of Myron’s life for the previous eleven books.
Having returned to representing clients, Myron is shocked when the FBI claims one of his clients who has been dead for three years is wanted for a recent murder and has connections to a five-year-old murder. That client is Myron’s old nemesis, Greg Downing. The history between Myron and Greg is long and chequered. They were competitors in basketball until Greg ended Myron’s career before it had barely started. Greg went on to marry Myron’s college girlfriend, Emily. Unbeknownst to Greg, Myron and Emily slept together the night before the wedding and conceived a child, a child Greg raised as his own for thirteen years before he found out the truth. Despite all this Myron is convinced that Greg wouldn’t be involved in murder but he is puzzled as to why he’d want people to think he’s dead.
Supported by his best friend, Win, he tracks down people who have connections to Greg. This leads to a very tense scene with mafia-style criminals and I did wonder if Myron had met his match. As Myron keeps digging the closer he seems to be getting to the truth, but there is that constant nagging feeling that people are holding back.
Thankfully, whenever danger lurks Win is around to help. Win is my favourite character. He comes across as not really caring but fans know he’s hyper-vigilant, highly skilled and usually a couple of steps ahead of everyone else. He does seem to have mellowed a little bit over the years, is age creeping up on him? He’s even taken note of the #MeToo movement. It’s the banter between the pair though that makes the story.
The narrative keeps you intrigued. The author has done an excellent job of keeping the identity of the lurking killer until the end, but even then there are still shocks in store for the reader. I felt so emotional as I was reading, really not sure how the book was going to end. I even got to the point where I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read on and find out. Bravo to Harlan Coben for the suspense (but please can we have more).
Another fast-paced thriller from Harlen Coben - great characterisation, excellent plot twist, delivers exactly what you'd expect.
Another incredible Harlan Coben book!
I love Myron and Win’s friendship and work dynamics while working on this case. They are brilliant characters and so true to life. The plot is fast paced and will keep you guessing until the very end. Highly recommend!
My first Myron Bolitar novel which I have thoroughly enjoyed. The story of a serial killer framing others for their kills was an intriguing plot and one that kept me guessing right to the end. I now may go back and read more of this series.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Random House UK, Cornerstone and Harlan Cohen for my ARC of 'Think Twice' in return for an honest review.
I have read several of this author's novels and they have always entertained, as this one did. This is part of a series of books around Myron Bolitar although it can easily be read as a standalone.
Myron, a former basketball player and sports agent is visited by the FBI asking if he knows where to find Greg Downing. Greg supposedly died three years before this and he was the reason Myron had to quit basketball. Their history together is mixed with many problems but Greg's DNA has been found at the scene of the murders so he appears to still be alive.
Myron, together with his compatriot, Wyn, take on the search for the truth. There are so many twists and turns along the way culminating in a thrilling finale.
Highly recommended.
