Just when you think Harlan Coben must run out of ideas he produced another stunning story. Twists and turns in every chapter. Myron and his close friend Win are great investigators who work independently. A murder of one of their social group, from a few years ago, has them intrigued and Myron won't let it rest. Putting themselves in danger to solve the mystery. A fast paced thriller. Can't write anymore without giving away the plot!

I have read and loved some of this author’s previous books so I was excited for this one. I liked it but struggled at times to follow so many characters. I think it would have helped if I’d read other books in the series as that would have given a bit more context to the characters. For the plot, reading the other books wasn’t necessary though. I enjoyed the twists throughout the novel and I was surprised when the killer was revealed. My favorite part of the book was the ending which added another exciting layer to the end of the book. I wasn’t so sure about switching to second person with Win at the end - it was a bit of a bit disconnect between the two parts of the story. Overall, I enjoyed it but I would advise reading some of the other book in the series.

Another brilliant story featuring the brilliant Myron and Win. A mysterious story narrated by Myron Bolitar, featuring another tale of intrigue and suspense. Every single chapter wriiten by Harlan Coben ends on a twist or a red herring. He really is phenomenal. Perfect for fans of psychological mystery novels and even better for fans, like myself who love Myron Bolitar. He's clever and hilarious and a delight to read. Recommended that you read this 📖.

I haven't read a book in Harlan Coben's funny and exciting series about Myron Bolitar for a couple of years, but getting back into the groove with Myron and his crew was like getting back together with an old friend.
Coben adds his usual carefully chosen and highly credible twists and turns to the story that keeps the reader on his/her feet at all times.
Despite having a well-tuned moral compass, Myron has flaws, and Coben has a brilliant way of setting his main charachters up against terrible dilemmas.
As with the past books in the series, I really enjoyed this latest installment in the series and hopes that Coben will continue the series along some of the new lines that this book could open up for (no spoilers!).

Book Review:
Think Twice by Harlan Coben
Published by Century, 23rd May 2024

The latest Harlan Coben is always going to be a book added to my TBR, so I jumped at the chance to read and review this latest offering ahead of publication.

Think Twice is the twelfth book in the Myron Bolitar series, but it can also be read as a stand-alone if you're not up to speed with sports agent Myron and his business partner Win.

From the outset, we're thrown into the mysterious plot. With his DNA found at a crime scene, Greg Downing is wanted for murder. He's Myron's former client and rival. He's also been dead for three years.

Harlan Coben details the evolving cat and mouse game in his inimitable way as Myron and Win decipher the data. Fast-paced, with twists deliciously placed and unpredictable, this is cloud nine Coben. If Think Twice doesn't have you frantically page-turning at every available opportunity, you might just want to check your own pulse.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks to Century Publishing and Harlan Coben for the ARC provided via NetGalley; this is my unbiased review.

This book is the latest in the Myron Bolitar series (Book 12) but it was my first in this series so I read it as a standalone and that was perfectly fine. In fact, joyful, because it means I can go back to the start and read the rest!!
Myron and his business partner Win become involved in a double murder where the overwhelming forensic evidence points to a dead man - Myron’s old baseball nemesis, Greg Downing. There was enough back information for me to perfectly understand why Greg was Myron’s nemesis, not only on the court but off as Greg had (unwittingly for a LONG time) brought up Myron’s biological son Jeremy. Then Greg disappeared and later it was reported that he had died abroad.
Like all Harlan Coben books, well, all that I’ve read so far, you are sucked in right from the start and he just doesn’t let you go till the very end!
I liked the characters, despite it being book 12 of the series, I feel I know quite a lot about Myron without having read the others and I like him.
All the main characters seem very well rounded and real. I look forward to learning more about them as I return to book 1!

It’s a great murder/mystery with quite a bit of humour thrown in. I couldn’t put it down and although I suspected who the perpetrator was going to be, I hadn’t worked out the final twist.

Harlan Coben is simply a master writer of our times and I haven’t met a book of his yet that I haven’t loved. Easy five stars.
My thanks go to the author, the publishers and NetGalley for an advanced e.reader copy of this book.

I hadn't realised there were previous books in this series with the same two character of Myron Bolitar and Windsor Horne Lockwood III and haven't read any before. The plot of this one involves an old client of Myron's, Greg Downing, with whom he has a basketball history, whom the FBI accuse of killing someone, saying his DNA was all over the crime scene. Myron could have accepted this except Greg had died three years previously so he sets out to investigate how his old rival could possibly have been accused of this murder.
The book is very slick, with good pacing and twists at just the right points to keep the readers turning the page for the next reveal. However, in places it became rather repetitive. The history between Greg and Myron is recapped several times (and doesn't change) and the relationship between the pair of them and Jeremy is explained too many times as well. As a reader I got it the first time...
Although the plot is gripping I found it a little too far fetched to be believable and for a crime novel to work I think it has to be believable. The wealth and mechanisms that are at Win's disposal make most problems go away. He can afford to pay to get things done that a more average detective or investigator would have to put effort into.
All in all it was an entertaining read but a stretch too far for me.
With thanks to Netgalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for an early copy in return for an honest review.

Three years ago sports agent, Myron Bolitar, gave a eulogy for Greg Downing, one of his clients, but also a nemesis, from being rivals on the basketball court, to finding out that Greg had been bringing up Myron's son without either of their knowledge.

Now Greg's DNA has been found at two recent murder scenes, so what has happened, have the police made a mistake, or is Greg still alive?

I have devoured all of Harlen Coben's previous books, and am more than happy to report that this book is just as good as the others, all the usual characters are there, Win being my favourite, along with Esperenza and Big Cyndi.

The subtle humour is apparent, and the story is action packed and full of suspense

Highly recommended and can't wait for the next one

A hostile FBI interview of Myron Bolitar and Win Lockwood takes place concerning Greg Downing, who has died three years ago. They have reason to believe that Downing is involved in two high profile murders of Cecilia Callister and her son, Clay. This is the first of many surprises as Myron does a little digging, and a few pieces of a very puzzling jigsaw start to slot into place. Myron is on the case, with a little help from Win and Esperanza Diaz amongst others.

Well, this is a fun read as Myron and Win are reunited, and of course, there’s humerous banter between them, which does teeter into the ripe Camembert kind on occasions, but it is still engaging. The plot is lively, it’s told at a brisk pace and you’re in good company throughout too with some great characters. Some are larger than life, not least the fabulous Big Cyndi and there are some that are distinctly less likeable with a chameleon or two into the bargain.

As the mystery deepens, it becomes one of those good but crazy rollercoaster rides with heart in the mouth twists as a very clever perpetrator who has thus far evaded all. It’s a page turner that’s for sure, as it barrels to a very dramatic heart stopping ending which is really good.

There is a bit of repetition as a few points are hammered home, but otherwise it’s a highly immersive read.

With thanks to NetGalley, and especially to Random House UK, Cornerstone, for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.

As we have come to expect from any Harlan Coben thriller involving Myron Bolitar and his idiosyncratic friend Win, this is a page-turning, thrilling, twisty tale. Many of the much-loved regular characters are back, including Big Cyndi and Esperanza, along with thumbnail plot/character reminders to help those readers with failing memories (me!) and anyone reading this book as a standalone. There is humour too and a satisfying and of course convoluted story.
Another first class, classic Harlan Coben.

An addictive read where I was desperate to find out who did it. An interesting character background for the protagonist and for the cast of characters.

Worth a read, but I was a little let down by the style of the reveal and how blasé it was done, although the last bit was very good and more of what I wanted!

I didn’t guess who did it, and I guess that is a good marker of a mystery book!

Oh how I've missed reading a Myron Bolitar story... This was the first 'adult' series my parents let me read as a kid because they were clever and exciting, but didn't induce nightmares. I have read Cobens books for 10 years and will continue to do so for another 10 easily.
The way Coben portrays a modern-day serial killer is just genius. The story unfolds in such a gripping way, keeping you on the edge of your seat until the very end. If you're a fan of mystery and suspense, this one's a must-read.
Coben's got this magic touch when it comes to bringing back old characters without it feeling stale. Greg and Myrons back and forth for years - and books - was always interesting and while Myron might claim he's forgiven Greg, the ending felt like the perfect closure to their long-running feud.

What I love most is how Coben lets Myron and Win age alongside their readers. It adds a whole new layer of depth to the series. Sure, you could jump into this book without knowing the backstory, but trust me, you'd be missing out big time. Start from the beginning and thank me later!

Harlan Coben is my favourite author. I've loved following Myron and Win throughout all of their adventures and this one was no different.
There's genuine comedy that shines through in the dialogue mainly with Myron and Win but with his parent and Esperanza too.

The story of this one brings bag Greg, Myron's original nemesis from way back in the day when he played state-level basketball and he carries through the whole story along with Myron's son and ex.

It's a clever plot to bring back these characters and involve them in the story. It's not the best of the Myron Bolitar books but I thoroughly enjoyed it as usual and look forward to the next Harlan Coben book whenever I can get my hands on it.

Many thanks for the ARC.

so much fun as always. somewhat less plausible than Myron and Win’s best adventures, but such a romp it barely matters

Myron Bolitar thinks his old friend, rival, and former basketball star, Greg Downing is dead. 2 FBI agents visit him to see what he knows about Greg as his DNA has been discovered at a crime scene where 2 people have been killed.
Myron and his partner, Win, decide to investigate for themselves if a clever murderer is framing a dead man.
It was an exciting read with twists and turns before a nail biting finish. I’ve only read the first in the series and this latest one so now want to go back and read them all.

Harlan Coben is an author you know is going to give you a great read and he’s done it again. Great to see Myron again and all the expected twists and turns we the reader expect from Mr Coben. Definitely recommend it.

Wow. I love Harlan Coben books but the Myron Bolitar series are my favourite. I really enjoyed this book and without saying too much the ending gave me all sorts of different feelings. I absolutely cannot wait for the next instalment.

Thanks to NetGalley for my advanced reading copy.

I enjoyed this one, I loved how fast paced it was I raced through it.

I realised quite early on that this was part of a series I hadn’t read 😂 after a google search I realised it was book 12.
If I would have known this I wouldn’t have read it without reading the others, there wasn’t much character building or background and I understand why 😂 being book 12 and all.

I wish I would have read the books in order but I did still enjoy it.

It took quite a while to be drawn into this book. I’ve not read any of the Myron Bolitar books before, which could be why I didn’t feel much love for the book initially- but by half way through I was fully engaged and reading fast.. I didn’t figure out either the killer or the final twist- so this was an enjoyable read for me in the end.

Characters were fun and I really enjoyed the strong bonds and loyalty at play here. I think I prefer the standalone books from Harlan Coben but would definitely now pick up further books from this series too.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my views.
