Typical Harlan Coben style. Even though it's part of a series, you can read it as a standalone.
I felt it was a bit of a slow burner up until the last 10%, where it was bomb, after bomb, after bomb.
Overall an enjoyable thriller reading.

*Warning, Do not read this book if you have other things you should be doing *
This book I could not put down, even though this is another book about Myron, you do not have to have read the others to be able to understand this book. I read this book so quickly as I just couldn't stop thinking about it and trying to work it out.
The book is centred around Myron and Wyn, when they have a visit from the FBI, that tells them that their "client" Greg is the main suspect in a double murder, even though he has been dead for 5 years, his DNA was found at the scene. This is all I am prepared to give about the plot as it is twisty and intertwined and I don't want to give anything away.
I loved Myron and Wyn's friendship and how they look out for each other. The characters are believable and the book is well written, as you would expect from Harlan.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone but be prepared to get sucked into their world and think of yourself as a detective trying to solve this case.

I didn’t realise this was book 12/12 of the Myron Bolitar series before I started it. This is my first book from this series and I really enjoyed it . It was gripping from the beginning and had a lot of back story to the characters that I didn’t feel I needed to read the other books before this one.
It was fast paced and kept me guessing to the end . I Will look forward to reading others from this series .

Myron finds himself looking for a person he thought was dead but now accused of a murder. Along with his friend Win they decide to investigate but everything is about to get much more complicated. Can they figure it all out before they find themselves in danger?
Wow another great Harlan Coben novel. I am a fan of the books and this was another great one. The plot is fast paced and builds to one hell of an ending. Im not sure i can remember the last time when a book had me on the edge of the seat to see how it would turn out. The mystery itself is clever and leaves you guessing. I had theories but was only partly right. I loved Myron and of course Win, their friendship is incredible. A brilliant, dark thriller.

How fantastic to see the return of Myron and Win. It appears that Myron’s old rival, Greg Downing, is guilty of murder. The problem? He is dead and Myron even gave the eulogy at the funeral. So how can a dead man have committed murder? In typical Myron fashion, he is unable to leave things alone and as he investigates things get stranger and more dangerous.
Of course it’s good, these are fantastic characters and it is great to have them back. Interestingly the author takes a slightly different approach. You can tell he enjoyed writing this and he has moved Myron and Win forward a bit, so they are older and, at times, trying to question their own relationship. It’s a thriller and mystery, as you would suspect, but at the heart of this it is very much about relationships.

This is the twelfth book in the series featuring Myron Bolitar, the sports and celebrity agent and former basketball star. There has been a long wait: the last in the series was published in September 2016, and there have been some changes, notably in attitudes to women (but they still favour tight clothes) and references to Covid. Besides that, the story is action-packed and full of intrigue as usual.
The story opens when two FBI agents inform Bolitar that a dead man, and a former client of his, is wanted in relation to a murder. So he is embroiled in a mystery, conspiracy and gang violence, with a boss called 'Joey the Toe'. With plenty of banter and guns, this is mostly pacy thriller is full of suspense and unexpected plot twists. Told mainly from Bolitar's perspective, chapters are dropped intermittently by the killer, which adds to the tension.
However, there is some repetition and it can be difficult to keep up with the many characters and the complexity of the multi layered plot. Perhaps me being from Britain doesn't help with the Americanisms either, and the references to basketball, which is a bit much for me. I have to say that I prefer Coben's stand-alone novels more than this series, although this book can be read without the other eleven books that went before (just about).
An exciting, breathtaking thriller from an excellent writer.

Feels like a slightly different feel for a Harlan coven book. Loved the relationship and friendship between Win and Myron such different characters who have each others back through everything.
The way the tale is woven through the book is brilliant with lots of different characters.
The book kept me guessing till the end.
Well worth a read

Myron and Win are back. Greg, Myron's old basketball adversary is likely to be the killer of a supermodel after his DNA is found at the place where she was killed. But how could this be? Greg is dead. So Myron and Win set about solving the mystery.
A super twisty roller coaster that had me gripped until the end.

Read if you like;
-Series
-psychological thriller
-Multiple POVs
-Giggle worthy dialogue

My second book by this author, I didn’t realise that this was part of a series. However, this didn’t have a massive impact on my reading experience as I felt like the author provided enough of a back story on the characters.
A wild ride, full of suspense with Myron and Win travelling across states trying to uncover a mystery of a client who died 3 years ago and solve a current murder. Both this character had a great humorous banter that I really enjoyed!
The author hasn’t created a novel full of twists and a clever perpetrator who has been evaded thus far! Definitely a page turner, which you will be invested in till the end!
There are a bits that felt repetitive and sports talk seemed like a struggle to get through. There was also a lot of characters which you really had to make notes on. However, overall an enjoyable read.

This is the first Harlan Coben novel I have read since 2014 although I have watched a couple of dramatisations on Netflix. The latest in a series about Myron Bolitar I found this to be a very readable story without being exceptional. It is a serial killer plot with the twist being that other people are being set up for each murder and it it does have a somewhat surprising ending. Just released in time for the summer holiday season I can see this being read on a lot of beaches this year

Although I have read a couple of Harlan Coben books, this was my first dip into the Myron Bolinar series and I loved everything about this book; the structure, the well rounded characters, fantastic plot and Mr Coben's ever present twists and turns.
What an amazing suspense/mystery storyteller he is and continues to be. I will, without doubt, be reading the previous books in this series and look forward to the next installment.
This sharp and pacey thriller gets 5 stars from me.
Thank you to NetGalley, the Publisher and Author for this ARC.

This is a fun read as Myron and Win are reunited, and of course, there’s humorous banter between them, which does teeter into the ripe Camembert kind on occasions, but it is still engaging. The plot is lively, it’s told at a brisk pace and you’re in good company throughout too with some great characters. Some are larger than life, not least the fabulous Big Cyndi and there are some that are distinctly less likeable with a chameleon or two into the bargain.
As the mystery deepens, it becomes one of those good but crazy rollercoaster rides with heart in the mouth twists as a very clever perpetrator who has thus far evaded all. It’s a page turner that’s for sure, as it barrels to a very dramatic heart stopping ending which is really good.
There is a bit of repetition as a few points are hammered home, but otherwise it’s a highly immersive read.
Many thanks to NetGalley, and to Random House UK, Cornerstone, for an advance copy in return for a fair and honest review.

Harold Coben never disappoints his readers. Book12 in the popular series with Myron Bolitar and Windsor Horne Lockwood III, two very entertaining characters.
A thriller, packed with action, suspense, a few twists and of course some dry humour.
The DNA belonging to one of Myron’s former clients has been found at a murder scene, but this former client is dead, he died 3 years ago! The mystery begins. There are lies and secrets to be unfold as Myron and Win begin to investigate, can this dynamic pair find the client, dead or alive?
A fast paced rollercoaster read, can be read as a stand alone book, but you would be missing out on an action packed series. It
Many thanks to Net Galley and Random House UK for an ARC of this book in exchange for a review.

Another brilliant read from this author. I was gripped from the start and had to keep reading through the twists and turns. I thought I’d worked it out but I was very wrong! A really clever idea for a serial killer plot from the master of this genre.

I’ve read the past few of Harlan Coben books and the odd few here and there and he is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors. You think you know how the story is going then you’re chucked a curveball and then another twist comes and another comes straight away.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book although I think it’s the first Myron book I’ve read and only heard him being mentioned in Win’s books.

Another nice twisty plot from Mr C. Enough twists that I got lost a couple of times. Overall, a great story that really did have me wanting to find out "who dun it".

Usual high standard that Mr Coben has maintained for many years now and never disappoints.
Drawn in form the first chapter and maintained the interest throughout.
A very solid four stars yet again.

I’m a Harlan Coben fan, and was not disappointed with his latest offering. He just has the knack of pulling you in and you need to find out how the story plays out. The main characters have been in quite a few books together but this is a standalone story and you don’t need to have read the others to enjoy it. Definitely recommend this one. Thank you #netgalley

A brilliant new book by the master of deception Harlan Coben!!!
This was a gripping read that I thoroughly enjoyed. The characters were all complex and interesting. The plot was a well planned affair, so I couldn’t put this down!!
The latest in the Myron Bolitar series, this is another case for Win and Myron to solve.
There’s been a double murder and the killer has left his dna all over the place. The only thing is, the killer is dead and has been for the last three years. Gregg is an old sport adversary and client of Myron from his past. Can the men solve the mystery of who’s behind these killings?
Many thanks to Random House Uk Cornerstone for the opportunity to read this arc copy for review consideration via Netgalley.

One of my most-anticipated releases of the year, this is another gripping, twisty, and emotion-wrought Myron Bolitar adventure from the fiendishly clever mind of Harlan Coben. Possibly the best in this compelling series, it also felt strangely and sadly like something of a swan song.
From the opening hook, through the blistering, labyrinthine plot, to the poignant final scenes, I was putty in Coben’s hands.
The premise is a corker.
The DNA of a former client and basketball rival of Myron’s has been found at the scene of a high-profile, double murder. It looks like a cut and dried case, a slam dunk. But there’s a snag: Greg Downing, the FBI’s main suspect, died from a heart attack three years ago. There can only be one explanation: he must have faked his death.
What follows, as Myron and his faithful sidekick Win set out to find Greg ahead of the FBI, is a head-spinning, high-octane race against time. In the background, pulling everyone’s strings is a serial killer, with a unique, double-pronged MO: picking off their victims and setting up innocent people to take the fall.
As always with Coben, you need to have your wits about to follow the super-twisty plot. He pushes the boundaries but never so far that you get mired in its intricacies. And of course, there’s the humour; that dry, James Bond-style wit that never fails to raise a smile, however serious the situation.
For me, this series has always been as much about Myron, the man, as about his exciting escapades. And here, in a poignant counterpoint to the crazy action, we see him at his most vulnerable, as a husband, father and son. After the thrill of the chase, the ending had me choking back tears.
As already mentioned, there was a definite sense in this book of loose threads in Myron’s story being tied up. A smattering of nostalgic moments between Myron and Win. Some real, lump-in-the-throat scenes hinting at a final hurrah.
I hope I’m wrong, but this feels like the end of an era.
