Every Step You Take by M A Hunter is a taut psychological thriller about a female marathon runner who is being stalked. The tension builds up and each race the runner takes part in she is convinced the stalker is there watching her.

I thought the plot had great promise, but the execution fell a little short. The story started off strong, but it seemed like it got really repetitive, almost like filler to make the book longer.

A tense psychological thriller. Molly is running the London marathon after recovering from a back injury. She also has a stalker on her tail, can figure out who before she crosses the finish line?

Amazing story, literally kept me on the edge of my seat and this makes me want to delve into anything else this author has written

As a runner currently training for the London Marathon this book really peaked my interest. I was sadly quite disappointed. I didn't root for the protagonist Molly or believe the far-fetched plot which involved running a marathon whilst tracking down a stalker and constantly ringing people on her phone.
I so wanted to like this book but sadly it wasn't meant to be.

I absolutely loved this book. Essentially it is a thriller but there was a unique feel to it that made the book seem refreshing and new. We follow Molly during the London Marathon as she competes for a place at the Olympics, however her stalker has reappeared and she may find herself in the biggest danger of her life.
Hunter has written this by alternating chapters of the London Marathon mile by mile and flashback chapters to the events preceding the Marathon. This was such a fantastic way to write this book and really helped to up the ante and intensity. As the marathon miles increased, I could feel my own senses heighten as I became sure something was going to happen.
Hunter's characters are good and they all felt realistic. We largely follow Molly throughout and I warmed to her instantly and she was a joy to read about. I also liked that Hunter throws in a surprising twist when I was least expecting it.
This is a terrifically intense read.

“Every Step You Take” by M.A. Hunter is a gripping psychological thriller set against the backdrop of the London Marathon. The main chraacter Molly is not only racing against competitors but also against time and her own fears, as she aims to secure the last spot on the Olympic team. The tension is palpable from the start, as Molly has been receiving threats from a stalker who claims he will be watching her during the race. The story unfolds over the course of the marathon’s 26 miles, with Molly’s determination to win battling against the terror of being watched and potentially sabotaged.

Hunter does an excellent job of portraying Molly’s inner turmoil. The narrative switches between Molly’s first-person perspective during the marathon and third-person flashbacks that reveal the origins of her stalker’s obsession. This structure effectively builds suspense and allows readers to delve deep into Molly’s psyche, understanding her motivations and fears. The pacing is relentless, mirroring the protagonist’s own breathless race against time.

The plot is tightly woven, with no thread left dangling. Hunter masterfully balances the psychological elements with the thriller aspects, ensuring that the tension never wanes. The marathon setting is a clever metaphor for Molly’s personal journey, each mile marker representing a step towards resolving her past and reclaiming her life.

“Every Step You Take” is a compelling read that combines the thrill of a race with the depth of a psychological study. Hunter’s portrayal of a woman’s fight to overcome her past and achieve her dreams is both inspiring and harrowing.

When I saw the blurb on this one, I was excited to read it. Unfortunately, it was just too unrealistic for me. I wanted to love it, but I was disappointed.

Thank you @rararesources and @AnAutieAuthor for letting me be part of this tour and reviewing this book. Every step you take is a psychological thriller genre. The story is set in the past 2023 and the present 2024 which is at the London Marathon. The story is about Molly who is a runner and has moved to a new flat in London and is doing advertising to raise her profile on social media, and then she starts to have a starker who will not leave her alone and all Molly wants to do is to get the Olympics in Paris, but she has to have a good time from the London marathon to get through. The story is at a fast-paced and I enjoyed it from the get-go. I liked how the story went to past and present, it worked well. I had no clue who the starker was, and I did really feel for Molly sometimes. It must be terrifying go through this and no one is listening to you. I thought she was paranoid and jumping at any little thing, but that's understandable. There is a great amount of tension that you are on tenders hooks on each page. There are some great twists and turns that I did not see coming. While reading Every step you take I did feel like I was running with Molly at times. Brilliant read that will capture late you from start to finish loved it. 5 stars. Not read anything by M A Hunter but I defiantly will now.

I am a huge fan of this author and really enjoyed the missing children case files series but this book did not hit the mark for me. The premise was great and the ending was fantastic as l did not see it coming.
What I didn't love was the constant internal dialogue, it was a bit repetitive. Also I really don't know if a competitive runner could have constant distractions from her phone to chatting to other competitors and still continue to run. But what would I know, I can't run to save my life.

After a Slipped disc and operation Molly is back in training for the olympics in Paris. She has to complete in a marathon to make it into the team but sonmeone is out to stop her. She also has a stalker and is convinced its him but is it? I didn't expect the ending although I did guess who was behind it.Very good read fast paced and enjoyable.

I liked the premise of this book. It was a fresh take on all the typical thrillers out there. The writing style kept me engaged, and the suspense building was great. There were dual timelines - the past and the present. In the past, we see how Molly first came in contact with her stalker. In the present, Molly is running in a marathon, and swears that her stalker is out to get her.

What didn't work for me was the fact that all of these conversations and dialogue were taking place while Molly was running a marathon. That seemed unrealistic to me. I admired Molly's determination, but a good bit of this book is us being in her head as she deals with her paranoia. There was too much time spent on Molly's internal dialogue. Overall, it was enjoyable.

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Every Step You Take by M.A. Hunter had me feeling as if I was running a marathon alongside our protagonist, Molly. By the time we reached the finish line, I was completely breathless.

Molly is convinced that a stalker from her past has reappeared to torment her once again as she runs a marathon in a bid to qualify for the 2024 Olympics. Though she is assured that he is safely locked away out of the country, a series of disturbing texts, phone calls, and sightings would suggest that he is very much nearby.

While I quite enjoyed Molly's story and was tense with anticipation from the starter pistol, I did find it all a bit difficult to believe that Molly was laser-focused on the danger that the stalker posed, while simultaneously just as intent on running her best race as an Olympic hopeful. That aside, if you can suspend your disbelief, this is a pacey read that is sure to elevate your heart rate.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC.

While I wanted to love this book, I could not get into it. To me, it was basically 26 miles of the same story, and in the end, it wasn’t shocking. Most ARC books I get to review I end up loving, but this was overall a miss

This was a great concept but it fell short for me.

I did enjoy the suspense but it was really so unrealistic and far fetched.

How can you make phone calls, texts , getting in to an argument with a spectator, have a situation with the camera crew , consulting with the police and still manage to catch up with the front runners (Olympians) in no time at all. This was irritating me so much that I ended up skimming most of this book!

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.

I enjoyed this book about a runner who has experienced stalking. It is great to read about someone dedicated to pursuing a dream. The main character's former stalker is supposed to be in prison, however someone is actively threatening this Olympic hopeful's life.

The author has an engaging writing style, and this is a good book for fans of running and mystery novels.

What could be improved?
The majority of the book is spent in the main character's thoughts of insecurity and near paranoia. It gets to be a bit... Too much.... Less time spent solely on the main characters repetative internal dialogue would improve the story.

For example, the author could have also introduced us to the stalker's internal dialogue and switched back and forth between the two. Alternatively, the book could have gone into greater detail regarding the main character's past, or her plans for the future - beyond the Olympics - just anything else to give a wider view of the story.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed this mystery and I would be glad to read more from this author!

I really enjoyed Every Step You Take. I thought it was an original idea for a story and I really liked that. It was gripping throughout and had me on the edge of my seat so much so that my heart was pounding like it was me running a marathon! I just could not put this one down and I would highly recommend it.

Every Step You Take is a tense thriller by M A Hunter which follows famous runner, Molly, as she steps up her training to take part in the 2024 Olympics. This has been the goal she has been working towards for years, but a haunting incident in her past is once again threatening to make her life hell. Molly is terrified that a man, who once stalked her, has been released from prison, and is out to make her life a misery again. Molly becomes even more concerned when it is clear that her own life is in danger and she has no idea where he is.

I really felt Molly’s fear in this book, and especially her frustration, when it appears that no one, not even her own agent, appeared to want to take her seriously. I could also really sense her anger at the way some men were treating her, especially the people who were jeering at her from the side-lines, as she took part in races. This made me angry as I was reading it. I thought M A Hunter explored this really well and it does add to the tension and the suspense in the book.

The messages that Molly continues to get, really do get quite scary. M A Hunter shows us what effect these messages have on her. We can see that she is really distressed. Like Molly, I couldn’t believe that no one appeared to take her claims seriously. This leads her to having some dark and scary thoughts. I can imagine that many people, who go through similar situations to Molly, do have similar reactions from people. She’s almost told to put her fears to one side and forget about it, almost as if they don’t matter.

M A Hunter does a brilliant job of bringing Molly and her situation to life. I wanted to follow Molly’s journey. The tension is there on every page and I raced through this book really quickly as I was desperate to find out what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed Every Step You Take. It is definitely the type of psychological thriller that can be devoured in one sitting, and I’m sure it’ll be a hit with thriller fans.
