This author is new to me so I didn't know what to expect. It is a bit legal heavy and I don't normally read these type of books but overall I enjoyed the narrator and the plot moved along at a steady pace but I think I expected more and expected some thing else to happen! Overall a decent listen but nothing outstanding to me anyway. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for sending me this audio arc.

Thanks NetGalley, HarperCollins UK Audio publisher, and the authors for a great advance copy of the book in exchange for my honest review!
Warning: this book has Harry Potter spoiler
🧠 My thoughts
This book was like a movie. It was mysterious, thrilling and pretty well-written. Listening to the audiobook was a great experience, I felt like listening would be better than reading for this book.
However, although the book was mysterious, there was no really any twist. The book was pretty much all about the story not about the mystery or the twist itself. There was quite a big Harry Potter spoiler at the end also which was not really for the people who are planning to read the Harry Potter series
👍 What I like
- Good and thrilling plot
- Well-written
- The ending was pleasant
👎 What I don't like
- There was not really any twist
- Has a big Harry Potter spoiler
"The Intern" by Michele Campbell is a thrilling novel that keeps you on the edge. The story follows Madison Rivera, a Harvard law student who lands an internship with Judge Kathryn Conroy. As the plot unfolds, secrets are revealed, and a dangerous cat-and-mouse game begins between the two women.
I particularly enjoyed the perspective from Madison and Judge Conroy, as it added depth to the characters and kept me guessing their true intentions. The twists and turns in the plot kept me hooked, and I found myself unable to put the book down.
Sarah Mollo-Christensen's narration was excellent, perfectly capturing the story's suspense and tension. Her straightforward delivery and skilled intonation made the audiobook a pleasure to listen to.
Overall, "The Intern" is a captivating and suspenseful read that delves into ambition, family, and betrayal themes.

The Intern by Michele Campbell, an audiobook narrated by Sarah Mollo-Christensen is so twisted that I was constantly left with an open mouth! I absolutely loved it!
I love it when a book makes me feel real anger, frustration, anxiety, or sadness. And it all was there! It was hard to understand who was the good one and who was the bad one, everything was twisted together in such a web!
This book is told from Judge Kathryn Conroy and Harvard law student Madison’s point of view.
Judge Kathryn sees Madison as an ambitious law student and is happy to offer her an internship. Madison needs to help her brother so she must get to know Judge as close as possible. Unvilingly Madison is sucked into the dangerous world and all she is trying to work out is is Judge Kathryn a mentor, a victim, or a criminal?
Soon Madison learns that she is involved in a dangerous game that can destroy her future but there's no way out!
Sarah Mollo-Christensen did such a great narration, it was easy to follow the story, the speech was clear and there was intonation when needed. I absolutely loved this book inside out!
I can't express how grateful I am for this copy! Thank you, NetGalley, HarperCollins UK Audio and HQ!
I had no idea what to expect from this title as the author is new to me. I listened to the audio version and initially found the narrators voice a little Whitney and irritating. However, I settled into it and her character voices were delivered well as the story progressed.
It’s a complex tale of aspiration, murder, revenge and more. Michelle Campbell depicts the vagaries of the justice system well and I enjoyed the way one of the central characters was carefully groomed as a future asset. It was insidious, clever and plausible. Set predominantly in Boston, the corruption and mob element of police and society is alluded to throughout. It’s basically the story of poor girls with a brain make good, with conflict between right and wrong. Skilfully plotted, it moves back and forth in time between the central characters and there’s plenty of tension. It’s whiled away an enjoyable couple of afternoons and kept me listening wanting to know just a bit more each time. Different, but it feels relevant and well written.

Madison Rivera is a Harvard law student who manages to land a dream internship with her law professor who she has admired for many years. Judge Kathryn Conroy is a high court judge, professor at Harvard and a woman with a mysterious background.
Madison’s secret that her brother has been arrested and Judge Conroy is the presiding judge over his case may just threaten her internship.
The story unfolds as we hear Kathryn’s background story and how her past affects Madison and her brother. It was a nice story to listen to while busy with a crochet project.
Thank you to NetGalley for my audio ARC.
An enjoyable pacey, jam packed legal/political thriller. The plot was great and not entirely unbelievable, I felt it was just slightly too long, a few chapters and a couple of characters were a bit unnecessary they just added a bit of confusion. There are so many characters that weave the story together that it was easy to get confused, which was a shame coz there was no real who done it element to the book.
The two main protagonists were well written with the right amount of back story to keep you invested. I quite liked the mob element to the story, but it all felt a little “made for tv” movie. I didn’t dislike it though, I just wanted a bit less. The narration was excellent.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins audio for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook in return for an honest review.
